Do you know how much is in your purse / wallet?

Having just found a wee surprise £10 in my purse, I wondered if there are people who can tell you exactly how much cash they have to hand ( I know there will be many!)

To finish...I know the pension doesn't always cover everything. Perhaps make sure you aren't entitled to anything more.

Many people live like that downtoearth. I remember many years ago dreading the post coming looking for brown envelopes with final notices..
I realise how fortunate I am and am so thankful. My life is totally different now.

I usually know to within a pound now much I have in my purse, and what if any I have tucked into the sewing basket.

I know exactly as it is all I have till my pension arrives next week, unfortunately I am I suspect one of the many who have to live hand to mouth and live on a very tight budget

I rarely carry cash these days, I know I had £19.20, but that was before OH went down to the shops for a lottery ticket. No doubt a bottle of wine jumped off the shelf into his hand too!

In my purse probably nothing. In drawers, cupboards, coat pockets, sofas probably a fair bit.

Don't really use cash for anything these days.

Couldn't tell you exactly, but I do take out some 'allowance' in cash for DH and myself every other week. We mostly use either debit or credit card but it is nice to have a bit of cash on hand.
I think these days there are not many of us that watch our pennies very closely. I use the term pennies loosely since Canada no longer uses them! My mother would have known exactly what she had in her wallet, as does my MIL who is 89.

I got £50 cashback in Morrisons and had around £11 in coins before that .I prefer to have cash on me for small things .

gillybob Wed 28-Aug-19 19:31:13

Probably about £18-£20 . Definitely one £10 note and lots of mixed coins. I panic if I don’t have change and can’t park .

Well it was 4p but I've just found the 2p that my grandson dropped under the sofa so my cash balance has increased by 50% just like that grin

SueDonim Wed 28-Aug-19 19:14:03

I often have no cash at all in my purse though at the moment, I'm flush, with about £15.

I do know how you feel, Daddima as I spotted a £10 note in my bag last week - no idea where it came from but it made me v happy! grin

Beckett Wed 28-Aug-19 18:53:17

Always know how much I have in notes an £1 & £2 coins, less sure about coins of lesser denomination.

BBbevan Wed 28-Aug-19 18:52:22

Not a lot. I rarely have actual money. Perhaps £I for the Tesco trolley

NotAGran55 Wed 28-Aug-19 18:50:40

Always in the region of £5 in assorted coins for short car parking charges or the shopping trolley at Aldi for my monthly visit . I use debit card for everything possible.

petra Wed 28-Aug-19 18:48:05

No idea.
It won't be much as most stuff is paid for contactless.

Sara65 Wed 28-Aug-19 18:46:27

Probably about five pounds, I’ve never got any cash these days.

Fennel Wed 28-Aug-19 18:44:33

Between £15-20.
I try to draw out the same amount of cash each week to cover expenses. I only use my credit card if there's no alternative.
I don't trust the bank's interest rates, heard too many bad luckstories.
I was brought up with the principle that if you can't afford it, you make do without. Or save up for it. But that's out of date now - I don't care smile
We do have a small mortgage though.

Grannycool52 Wed 28-Aug-19 18:43:25

I have a sterling purse and a Euro purse & I know roughly what is in each, but never precisely.

annep1 Wed 28-Aug-19 18:40:27

No idea. I often find money in coats/trouser pockets / bags. I get cash out and then use contactless.very careless.

Gonegirl Wed 28-Aug-19 18:36:23

A few euros. And I can't for the life of me remember where I put the English notes I took out. hmm

maddyone Wed 28-Aug-19 18:34:02

Actually, that was incorrect, it’s one credit card and one debit card.

maddyone Wed 28-Aug-19 18:32:58

Approximately £35 plus two credit cards.

Chewbacca Wed 28-Aug-19 18:30:43

To the penny!

callgirl1 Wed 28-Aug-19 18:14:29

Rough idea, but not exactly.

kittylester Wed 28-Aug-19 18:11:56

I can at the moment. I usually have a good idea of at least the notes!
