We sometimes get spuds with mud on them from our son-in-law. Better still, they're free, because he's a farmer!

Good size too, often supermarket ones too small for jackets!

We used to buy them by the sackful but don’t use nearly so many now. Quite often have pasta, rice or noodles instead.

Always loose dirty ones in Morrisons during cropping time. Great local Cornish spuds

Mine come from the local farm shop like that.
You can still buy them from there by the sack but it's paper now.

Potatoes from Pembroke were wonderful.

Our Asda potatoes often have a use by date of the next day. I hate this washing of vegetables and then packing them in plastic.

We also used to buy a hessian sack of potatoes and store them in the garage.

I remember we used to get a sackful of those. 55 cwt I think. How come they kept so well when supermarket washed ones last about a fortnight before they sprout?

I often buy mucky spuds at a local market ..sometimes even Cyprus potatoes with their lovely red earth ..I know I should only buy local and mainly do but Cyprus potatoes are fabulous for chips or roast and its only now and then the market stall has them ...oh and they are great in a moussaka
