What are your facilities like ?

We once had a large Victorian house which had a generous bathroom and separate loo next door. We had a wc put in the bathroom, and a washbasin in the lavatory, and doubled the facilities.
This house also had an outside loo with the name proudly inscribed on the overhead tank....Niagara!

When we bought our house it had two bathrooms so two loos, but my husband is planning on putting a third loo downstairs in his workshop cos he reckons whenever he goes down there he gets the urge lol

We have a bungalow with 3 beds, two shower rooms with loos and family bathroom with loo. Spoilt for choice!!

My house has 8 toilets, but it is a 4 storey Victorian Guest House.
Desperate to sell if any of you would like a house with more toilets.
The more toilets you have the more there are to clean

We live in a 3 bedroom bungalow, three loos, 2 bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms and there is a bathroom. It’s a bit much when there is just us 2 but handy when the family descend on us.

When we moved in, we had one of those traditional late victorian or early edwardian 3-bed semis with the bathroom on 1st floor (2nd for American readers) and the toilet next to it in its own tiny room. First thing we did was have a loft conversion with an en-suite, then we combined the original toilet and bathroom. I agree you need at least one toilet separate from the only bathroom in case someone is in the bath for hours, but once we had the second bathroom that didn't matter any more. And finally, when I got sick of running up and down the stairs we had a small extension built outside the kitchen door to make a little enclosed porch with a toilet and handbasin room off that. I guess you call that a cloakroom, except we don't keep coats in it. Cloakrooms I always think should be near the front of the house. So I call ours the "gardeners toilet" lol.

I was brought up in a house that had a loo at the bottom of the garden.There was a bucket and a water barrel next to it. I now live in a house with three loos. Don't have to go outside to use any of them or do I need a water barrel and bucket.

Over 60 years ago, I remember visiting my aunt. Her loo was in a brick outhouse, with tidily cut squares of old newspaper on a hook for the wiping of one's posterior. It was at the end of a long path. The neighbour's ferocious dog had to be negotiated. No fencing. He was tied up. I was only a toddler but knew to the inch how far he could reach! I was so scared, but I always arrived at the loo just in time. We now have a ridiculous 5 loos and no dog, but there's no longer any guarantee that I'll arrive there in time.

Eloethan, in our previous (Edwardian) house a loo under the stairs was the first and best alteration we made. It was tiny but perfectly usable, and it made toilet-training three children much easier, as it was a long way from garden to bathroom! We now have a 4-bed 1995 house with bathroom, en-suite shower room and downstairs cloakroom, and though it did seem overkill at first it's a godsend when we have all the family to stay (and useful as DH and I both have gut-related ailments).

2 ensuite with basin shower and toilet, one family bathroom with bath shower basin and toilet all upstairs and a downstairs toilet with basin !!

Absolute luxury as I grew up with an outside loo which had to be manually emptied - a 'proper' bathroom didn't come along until I was about 12.

One proper shower-room with very nice walk-in shower, and toilet and wash-basin, plus one little cloakroom with toilet and wash-basin.

Four! Two en-suite, bathroom and cloakroom. We should only use our en-suite and the cloakroom leaving the rest only needing “domestic maintenance” when we have guests. Unfortunately OH is like a dog with lampposts and he has to pee in every one! Is it an ownership thing?

Downstairs cloakroom, ensuite shower, basin and loo, family bathroom with loo, so three altogether.

I live on a narrow boat. One loo. Oh and I have to take the toilet cassette to empty once a week. I put it on my little wagon and have ten minute walk to car then short drive to elsen point to empty.

Just decided to transform one of the toilets in the back 'ex Parish room' in a downstairs shower, just in case. The other WC next to it is very wide + wide door for wheelchair, with outside wheelchair access - be prepared.

Recently moved toa ground floor flat,2 bed,new build. Have 2 walk in showers Urge Gns to think about baths, they can be lethal in old age,chose not to have one here Family and friends staying with us do not seem to mind

dare I admit that I live in a house with 6 loos!! I moved a few years ago to a 5 bedroom house with 3 bathrooms; one downstairs loo and 2 on half landings!!!! Ridiculous I know but brilliant when toilet training grand-children as they can try out a different loo each time! Mostly I only use one bathroom and the downstairs loo but when the tribe descends on me, its useful to have the other bathrooms/loos. My house really isn't that big - honest! My grandchildren think I'm very 'cool' having so many loos.

We took the bath out of the larger bathroom upstairs and installed a walk-in shower for my Mother - who now lives in sheltered accommodation. I hope having no bath doesn't cause problems when we downsize in the next few years!

We have en suite bathroom for us, I need the loo at least 2 or 3 times in night so necessary for us, a family bathroom used by 1 foster son, a shower room Jack and Jill style in loft extension for 2 ac and a downstairs cloakroom. All are used. I know we are well off for loos with 4.

Most on here seem to be very well facilitated (if that makes sense).

I remember the tin bath and outside toilet, even a dreaded earth closet at one stage, progressing to a bath with hot water boiler above curtained off from the kitchen and eventually the inside bathroom, hurrah!

All we have now is a bathroom with bath, over bath shower, basin and toilet. We manage fine, just the two of us, and I don’t remember any problems when we brought our three children up here. I can’t imagine it now though!

I've lived in a small Cornish cottage for 6 years now (it used to be a smithy for the mine in 1890s). One room with mezzanine level for the bed. 32m2 in total.

No toilet. Bath under a worktop in the kitchen area with hot water from the back boiler (log fire). OK in winter when the log fire makes the hot water but in summer we connect a pipe up to the little gas water heater above the kitchen sink. Takes about 1/2 hour to fill the bath with enough water to cover the essentials! .

Toilet is a compost one outside. Wood shavings. Not ideal in bad weather or if you get caught out in the night. Wellies and coat are always ready by the door.

We have almost finished building our new house. It stands next to the cottage. It is a 94m2 bungalow. Bathroom and ensuite (shower) so 2 inside loos. Luxury.

The compost loo will still be used as we work outside such a lot. It is also good for the compost bins. (grin)

BTW - cottage is staying as it is. Need a spare bed for family/friends. Thinking of airB+~B for next year though.
