Celebrity Crush

I must confess to occasionally getting an attack of palpatations that have nothing to do with a badly digested jammy dodger when certain CHAPS appear on the telly.
Even at my advanced age I'm not immune to a celebrity crush!

Mine are - Monty Don
Kim Bodnia (thanks to Lessismore for reminding me)
Michael Portillo
Jeremy Paxman
Simon Schama
Andrew Scott ( I know, black armbands all round ladies)
And the winner of my Nobel Prize for Hunk of the Year.......DAVID OLUSOGA ( A House Through Time)
I just love to see him staring gravely at the camera when he's about to announce another resident wiped off the face of the earth by typhoid, bankruptcy or lunacy.

I keep a picture of him I cut out of the paper stuck in the back of my diary. He's between my Sacred Heart prayer card, and my Farmfood coupons.

Who do you secretly long for?

CaroDane Sat 24-Aug-19 21:54:43

Sarah65 or even HE IS confused

CaroDane Sat 24-Aug-19 21:53:53

Come on Rufus2 come and play in the Argy Bargy! Poor Jude Law and George Clooney need a rest from all the voracious minxes that frequent that den of iniquity!
PORK SCRATCHINGS. POTEEN. POLE DANCING.
What more can a man want?

CaroDane Sat 24-Aug-19 21:45:25

Sarah65 I know for a fact that Paul Mac has loads of cousins back home and sends all of them a hamper for Christmas. He really is as nice as you think you is!

katyk

So many missed opportunities!

Glammy57 Sat 24-Aug-19 21:23:12

luckygirl I had Douglas Henshall on my list!

KatyK Sat 24-Aug-19 21:14:15

Sara Paul would have definitely spotted you and dumped Jane. I could never understand what George saw in tall, blonde, willowy super model Patti when I was there in the back streets of Birmingham!

My secret passion is Toto Wolff, the head of the Mercedes Formula One team. Tall, dark and gorgeous with a sexy Austrian accent and a lovely smile. Unfortunately he also has a lovely wife, the beautiful Suzie Wolff!

Sara65 Sat 24-Aug-19 20:42:29

My friend and I had massive crushes on Cat Stevens, we would sit on my bed singing about the ill fated Lady DeBanville. (haven’t the slightest idea if that’s the correct spelling)

BBbevan Sat 24-Aug-19 20:38:53

My very first was Eric Fleming as Gil Favour in Rawhide
Bryan Ferry
Suzanne Jones ( as Anne Lister)!!!!
Colin Firth ( as Mr Darcy)
there must have been loads of others but can't recall them

Barmeyoldbat Sat 24-Aug-19 20:21:30

Oh how could I forget David Essex, I use to sleep with his photo under my pillow.j My sister use to have a crush on Rod Stewart and when we use to have arguments I only had to say he looked like a toilet brush with his hair and she would cry. Sisterly love.

WOODMOUSE49 Sat 24-Aug-19 20:16:08

Luckygirl

How could I have forgotten Douglas Henshall. I'm a huge Shetland fan. Love his eyes ...

Luckygirl Sat 24-Aug-19 19:52:07

Douglas Henshall doesn't seem to have got a look in yet! He'll do for me!

GabriellaG54 Sat 24-Aug-19 19:47:58

It would have to be someone with the looks of Tom Cruise in 'Cocktail', the wildlife knowledge of David Attenborough and Steve Backshall, the Steelyness of Vladimir Putin, the homeliness of Bill Bryson, the peacefulness of Monty Don the ordinaryness of Barak Obama, the cooking skills of Mary Berry, the kindness and dress sense of my OH, the humour of the Seinfeld team (as was), the attitude of BJ, gardening skills of Adam Frost and love horses and cricket, massages and the outdoors.
Still looking....??

kircubbin2000 Sat 24-Aug-19 18:59:41

ineedamum Sat 24-Aug-19 18:48:37

Simon Reeve- he's such a kind man (if only I was younger)

Sara65 Sat 24-Aug-19 18:44:43

You are one lucky girl! If I’d been a bit older, and didn’t have to put up with my dad rubbishing their lyrics and haircuts, I’d have run away and become a groupie, that way, Paul would have spotted me in the crowd, our eyes would have met, and it would have been goodbye Jane Asher

KatyK Sat 24-Aug-19 18:37:18

Sara Members of my family refer to George 'your George'. I wish! He chatted to me and a few others once (well he chatted, I gawped). As I have bored on here many times, I have many Beatles stories and a picture of myself sitting behind them on stage.

Sara65 Sat 24-Aug-19 18:28:58

I also think the late John Thaw was very sexy, as is the actor who plays young Endeavour, sorry, can’t remember his name, and of course, on the subject of detectives James Hathaway, although I worry he may find me a bit thick!

Sara65 Sat 24-Aug-19 18:22:37

I totally understand. I’ve had many crushes over the years, but I fell in love with Paul McCartney when I was about ten, and I still think he’s gorgeous

DannieRae David Essex autographed my arm (many years ago blush)

I didn't wash that section for weeks!

Lessismore Sat 24-Aug-19 18:20:56

Sorry Caro, if its John Majors lips or a bit of haughty Russian or smelly Dane, there's not contest.
