Fun question - when did you realise you were getting older?

My friend was flattered when she presented her bus pass for the first time and the driver said "Sorry, love, I can't accept this". She thought he was saying she didn't look old enough to have one.

It was before 9.30.

When I was going upstairs to bed at 10pm one night, and met my 21 year old son coming downstairs, ready to go out lol

Also, when I was seeing my GP about some women's problem or other and she said to me "the most common cause of this problem IN WOMEN OF OUR AGE . . . . "
I felt ancient. UP to that point, I had only ever had GPs who were much older than me.

When the clerk at the bank asked me if I was coping with online banking! How dare she - I was learning Computer Basic when she must have been in nappies!

When I arrived at work after a half hour drive and the pillow marks still showed in my cheek, I was fifty! Now it's me who leaves wrinkles in the pillow slip.

When I told someone my age and they didn't say 'oh you don't look it' like they used to.
When the wolf whistles stopped.
When it takes me ages getting out of a car.
When young lads started to let me on the bus before them.
When I couldn't bend over to do the weeding and having to kneel down on a pad.
When 'modern' music started to get on my nerves.

I suppose moist evening events do get more likely as we get older!?

Yes - I remember that Bren's mum in Dinnerladies had that problem! For me, 2 already mentioned- being offered a seat on the bus and shop assistant ' I expect you don't have an email address'. With the former I smiled and declined, with the latter I unsmilingly gave him my email address!

When my son in law started to assist me in getting out of his car - quite shocked me at the time, but can laugh about it now. (I think).

Looking at face cream in Boots. When the No7 sales assistant told me the mature cream was on a different shelf. I’m 56. The mature cream is for mature ladies not youngsters like me!!!

When I realise I prefer comfort ahead of very fashionable, in everything from comfy shoes and clothes, to not going out to moist evening events..

netflixfan - Indeed! It seems to happen to me a lot when I bend over! Hugely embarrassing in company! It always reminds me of Petula Gordeno (Brens Mum, Julie Walters) on Dinnerladies. She had a problem in that dept, which I found highly amusing when I was younger. Not so much now!

I decided at 60 to age in reverse....made sense. So I am not 68 I am 52...hahaha

When I struggle to get out of the bath! Have to turn on to my knees and put a flannel on edge to get a grip and haul myself up,I do aqua twice a week so reasonably fit.Also can’t stay out late drinking to much! Takes to long to recover!

In myself I honestly feel 55 ( nearing 79 ) it's through lack of exercise that the limbs let me down. I don't do half as much walking as I should----weather not conducive. My excuse !

Yes, there's the odd day that I feel about 100 but fortunately it's short-lived and I find that I can soon " bounce back ".

Then again I'm not running a house, just a 1 bedroomed s/c flat and neither am I looking after anyone-----both of which make a huge difference to health and well-being.

When after being called Nanny by all my Grandchildren for over 25 yrs my eldest GS started calling me Granny and when I asked why, he said well Mum (my daughter) is Nanny now I’ve got a baby so you’re elevated to Granny position. ?

Now all of them call me Granny.

The first grey hair! Since then it has been highlighted regularly so they don't show.

I was browsing in M&S on Monday when a quite large teenage girl, about 16-17 pushed past me. A man following her called to her to say ' be careful you nearly knocked that old lady over'. I was lost for words, my DH thought it was very funny. I did not.
To add insult to injury, the man had more grey hair than me. ?
And yes I too see my mother when I look in the mirror.
