Young guys racing round supermarkets SO impatiently!

Speed shopping is right up my street.

My pet hate is more than one person going through the checkout with the same trolley. Not necessary and takes up valuable space.

In Aldi I always tell DH to bugger off wait for me at the packing area.

I do love it when people shoot off to another checkout though - just as the red 'closed' sign goes up.

I sometimes dash to Morrison’s at around lunch time if one of the lads happen to pop back to work. I have about 15 minutes in all and usually might pick up 3 or 4 things. I tend to make for the self checkouts where you can guarantee some doddery old man will be attempting to self scan his “woopsies” even though he hadn’t got a clue how to use it .

I feel like shouting down his ear trumpet “Oi , that’s what the bloomin’ checkout operators are for !”

As I said earlier, perhaps that supermarket didn't have self checkouts or maybe they were closed or maybe the queue at them were too long?

If he is in that much of a hurry he should learn how to use the self checkout.

My beef about supermarkets is couples, blocking aisles debating the virtues of each particular item they pick up, Waitrose is by far the worst

Here's a bit of advice which might help you.

Next time you see someone doing something which annoys, irks or angers you, try to work out why they might be doing it abd even sympathising, instead of getting yourself all worked up and posting on GN as if it's actually a problem.

I rush around the supermarket, if DH isn’t doing the shopping. I am never rude to anyone but shopping is a chore and I cannot “dilly dally”.

Maybe they don’t have them or maybe they were closed or maybe the queue at them were too long?

If he was in that much of a hurry he should have used use self service.

I'm very rarely in a rush shopping, so if I see someone who obviously is and they are behind me in the queue, I always offer to let them jump the queue in front of me.
Same when I'm driving, I try to let people in when ever I can.

I rush round supermarkets and tut and mumble and I'm not a young guy.

Maybe, like me, they hate shopping.

But what really annoys is when the checkout girl has swiped all the items and the owner of said goods hasn't even started putting the items in bags or back in the trolley. They wait. And then they have to find their purse. Which is usually at the bottom of a cavernous bag.

I've been tempted to leap over and pack their bags for them but of course I just smile and say 'it's fine!' if on the odd chance they turn and apologise.

So I hate shopping and leave it to my dearly beloved who is far more patient than I am.

No need for that kind of language.

The local supermarket I use has young males literally zipping around, on their scooters, and the staff make no attempt to stop them.
Fortunately I know their headmaster, so when one nearly crashed into me I said, 'I'm sure Mr. L.... won't be very impressed to learn what you are doing.' and he stopped instantly. It works every time, but I shouldn't have to do it; the staff should.

He probably didn't want to be there doing the shopping! ?

He's probably just really busy and trying to squeeze a supermarket shop into everything else he has to do - I'm not an alpha male but I often do this. Everyone goes at their own pace round the supermarket and if he's not actually bashing his trolley into you or similar then it really doesn't matter what speed he goes at, does it?

Septima I thought mine was the only one like that. I am the one who rushes round in a hurry but these days I leave him to it and do something else. Only when family are coming do I go and get the extras.

I haven't seen the impatience at the checkout for years, luckily. I admit I used to get impatient at lunch time with the people in the limited items queue in M & S. They would stand there doing nothing, apparently falling asleep when it was their turn and then fishing around for money to pay. I always had the money ready and sympathy for the checkout person who had to keep yelling 'NEXT'

Some people are just impatient and rude.

Some people dither and block the aisles thoughtlessly. Yes, we all need to look for things, or decide between items sometimes, but we don't need to take up all the space.

My DH isn't an Alpha Male (!) and dawdles round the supermarket. It drives me up the wall. I like to get a move on, but not if it means leaving a trail of knocked-aside shoppers behind me!

Maybe he was shopping in his break? Or maybe he was just an impatient twat ???

well perhaps he had to pick up the kids from school, or his wife was having a baby and needed supplies- maybe he had a real emergency on his hands? Patience goes both ways, perhaps.
