A happy thread (to counteract the moaning one).

It probably won't be as popular, but let us hear about good things that have happened too.

Yesterday I was given a huge bunch of flowers just because I did a couple of loads of washing for my neighbour while her new kitchen was being fitted.

My garden is a picture, best yet I think.

Will not now kill my brother. He has found me a gardener
who will weed, prune and pot shrubs

Have just finished painting the 7th door.

Number of doors in my flat = 7.

The sun is shining and I am still glowing from a glorious day yesterday with my D and GC.

We went to my dear friends sailing club, weather was glorious, children had so much freedom and fun (if somewhat muddy and smelly)!!

lemongrove
We went to Trenwith!
However, no sign of George, although I thought I caught a glimpse of Elizabeth disappearing into the distance.

Just returned from possibly the same NT house and gardens as Camelot ( we also had a cream tea!)
Weather kept threatening to rain, but didn’t, everyone we met was full of smiles, very enjoyable.?
(Buscot Park? Camelot ?)

Witzend Wed 07-Aug-19 17:01:20

My right thumb, on which I managed to slam the car boot door a week ago, is much better. ?

Camelotclub Wed 07-Aug-19 16:48:42

Went to a nearby NT house and had a walk in the woodland path up to the obelisk, followed by scone and cream in village hall!

Newquay: I don't know if you live there but I wonder if you're glad that festival is cancelled?

Minniemoo Wed 07-Aug-19 16:46:09

About to take my small dog to the woods for an early evening stroll.

We've been unable to go for a few days but tonight's the night.

She'll be so excited.

Spent several happy hours pottering about in the garden - always good
Sorted out a load of old paperwork for burning
Finished the book that I was reading
Looking forward to salmon, new pots and salad for dinner

grandtanteJE65 Wed 07-Aug-19 16:09:58

Spent the forenoon at friends, who had asked if DH could fix their trailer's lights, which he could and did along with the husband of my friend.

She and I and a granddaughter of hers had a great time talking, playing with dolls (granddaughter is 9) making and eating lunch.

That news must have cheered you up Marydoll it cheered me!
Like others I have never heard the like. 2 of my DS work for Banks so there must be some good people about.
I hope it makes up for the insurance blow and that your trip to Rome is still on.

I haven't happy news only fair to middlin' today. wink

How lovely for you Annie. Is the house going to be, south ,north or west Wales? We are SW but all are beautiful .

dragonfly46 Tue 06-Aug-19 10:45:55

Fantastic news Annie it will change your life - maybe give you the confidence you need.

How lovely Marydoll although it doesn't surprise me really as you come across as a really lovely person.

I’ve just walked to our local newsagents-like most days-to buy a morning paper. Lovely sunshine, folks going about their business, saying “good morning” as we pass. Am so grateful for such peace. . .aren’t we blessed? Despite all this Brexit fandango we have no wars here.

A lady from the University of Auckland came to see me today to ask about the psychological and physical effects of losing personal transport. They are doing a major project on aging in the community.

She wanted to know, amongst many other things, what I did to counteract these effects. And how I felt things could or should be changed to help others in my position.

She arrived at 1.30 and left just after 4pm and I think we laughed the whole time.
She was from Lancashire, bless her.

A happy afternoon which went a long way to counteracting my sad weekend.

And don't tell me a sentence shouldn't start with a conjunction or I'll spit in your G&T grin

Well Mary, that's a first I would think for a bank. I would not only put that news on this thread I would publish it in your local paper smile. Never ever heard of that before but well done to you for being so nice smile.

My good news is that my cousin's daughter just got her higher results and she got 1 x A 2 x B - she's off to do her chosen subject at Dundee uni. I am so pleased for her.

Pantglas1 Tue 06-Aug-19 08:44:35

How lovely Marydoll and wine does keep.....!

And Anniebach, it seems apt that the Eisteddfod is on this week and they sing ‘ Unwaith eto yng Nghymru anwyl’ for Welsh people who live away from home!

Persistentdonor Tue 06-Aug-19 08:27:59

What a lovely thread. So happy for all you happy people.

On Saturday my husband sweetly volunteered to drive me a couple of hours each way to an event he didn't want to attend, as I was not able to go otherwise.

I had such a lovely day I am still buzzing! smile

kittylester Tue 06-Aug-19 08:11:28

And me!! What a nice bank, marydoll. Hope that made you feel loads better.

Great news Annie.

gillybob Tue 06-Aug-19 08:00:08

Yes me too Nortsat Great minds eh?

That is absolutely lovely Marydoll what a lovely surprise for you . I’ve never heard of banks being so kind and generous. smile

Nortsat46 Tue 06-Aug-19 07:21:56

Marydoll I read your Good Morning Tuesday post and hurried over here to see your good news. How lovely to receive that compliment and the hamper.

It must be true that good things come to good people (though sometimes we have to surmount a lot of hurdles first). Enjoy the treats in the hamper (and hopefully the wine, when you are able ...) ?

Marydoll Tue 06-Aug-19 07:06:45

After a pretty miserable and stressful morning yesterday having had my travel insurance cancelled, as I was too high a risk, something really nice happened.

I phoned online banking ( putting my affairs in order) to try and sort out an old account that was dormant. We have been trying to sort it out for a year, to no avail.
I was a bit low after the travel ins debacle and explained that I was trying to make things easy for my family, especially after BIL's recent death ( IT and banking problems) and my deteriorating health.

The young man said that despite my complaint, I was one of the nicest customers he had dealt with and asked, as I was having such a difficult time at the moment, if could he send a food hamper on behalf of the bank to cheer me up!!!! shock smile

The only downside: there will be wine in it and I can't have alcohol at the moment! grin

LadyGracie Mon 05-Aug-19 13:39:13

I had my one tooth dental plate repaired this morning-that’s good news.
