A happy thread (to counteract the moaning one).

Husband and I are off to visit our daughter in Scotland next week. Husband not driving this time - such a long way to go. So, yesterday down to the railway station to buy our tickets, and a 2-together card, for which you need 'passport' photos.

The photo booth was so complicated - we couldn't understand it at all. Two staff members came to our rescue. (And I can't remember the last time I had so much attention and kindness!)

'It's £6 each,' said the man, 'But if you get in quick, and then swap a bit sharpish, you'll get both photos for £6.' Lady sat me down, made sure I was in the correct position for my mug shot, and then the man gently handed me out of the booth and urged my husband in. Lots of banter and laughter between us all! They were an absolute joy, and British Rail (is it 'British Rail' any more?) should be so proud of them.

Pain in the bum DGS aged 12 who has me run ragged picking him up from random friends at a moment's notice and expecting all football kits to be clean and ready when required and who usually shrugs and grunts while attached to his mobile phone, tonight just came up and hugged me. 'What's that for?' I asked suspiciously. 'Cos you're nice,' was the reply.

The morning began sunny after goodness knows how many days of torrential rain, so I was able to start the long, long overdue laundry.

Got four loads done and, very fortunately I have a covered deck where a portable rack can stand to dry a few small things and lingerie.

As soon as I went to hang the towels and jumpers out the back, it began to rain. Well it IS the rainy season.

Then I saw the first Spring bulb in bloom - a lilac freesia. What a lovely thing; who cares about endless rain?

I'm home alone and can do just what I like.
As my wee son used to say, 'I'm the boss of me.'

So I'll make a cup of very hot chocolate and sit down with my knitting and a Lindsey Davis audio book about Falco.

What bliss. Life is GOOD.

Oh, sorry my last post was a bit moany - I forgot where I was

I was really looking forward to buying my new grandson lots of lovely clothes - first grandchild! - however my daughter has been given so many bags of baby clothes from different people I've only managed 3 vests and 1 babygro!
Plenty of time in the future to buy him stuff I guess

Buying baby clothes online for the expected new GD .Her parents who pop in daily,realised all the 0-3 months things they have stored will be massively big on her after seeing a friends new baby.They are happy for me to get her some newborn and tiny baby things .Monsoon,,Debenhams ,M and S and Mothercare so far and some lovely things bought to be delivered at the weekend .I love buying baby clothes .

My new cleaner came a couple of days ago and it's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. We both work f/t in pretty demanding jobs, and between that, dealing with a 12 year old and adult children, all the house maintenance stuff, elderly parents and volunteering the housework was becoming a source of much tension (DH has slightly different <ahem> standards than I do).

The joy of walking into a spotless, clean house was indescribable. I could have cried.

I found a nice t shirt in the sale but haven't tried it on yet.

So glad that wide-legged trousers are back in, I can wear my old linen trousers now!

Very happy now. Had the grandsons today. Me and small dog are exhausted. I love the bones of them but the peace and quiet now is lovely. But my ears are still ringing!

I have a few quiet moments at work to log on to Gransnet!

I'm confident the sun will shine once it breaks up our coastal fog, and later will enjoy sitting in my garden with a good book. Reading The Clockmaker's Daughter

Bought a pair of wide leg trousers in a sale, collected them yesterday, and wanted a top to go with them.
of course you realise I have no tops at all, popped into a shop in town, and found one on the sale rail. Result.
DH's radiotherapy was cancelled this morning, as the machine broke down, so we had coffee and cake in a new shop, lovely, and he enjoyed his 'day off'.

The last tine I got my hair cut/done ( just last week) my DH came in , took one look at me and said “ I thought you said you were going to the hairdressers”

The calm before the storm!

Lovely morning having coffee with friends in the sunshine.

Had my hair cut this afternoon and not looking too bad, at least DH liked it, although did have to sit and look at myself for a long time but tried to concentrate on my good looking hair dresser.

Enjoy your treat Gillybob spontaneous outings are always the best.

I went out to lunch today with a friend. Unfortunately there was a notice to say no cooked food available. We had to make do with a toasted teacake then cake!

It was earlier though Fennel so thank goodness I didn’t hang my washing out this morning !

And it's NOT raining on Tyneside, gillybob. ( as on other thread.) It's lovely and warm and sunny.

I do hope so River although I don't normally partake of alcohol on a school night, I might make an exception for this momentous occasion . He will be thinking " that's her happy for another 6 months"

Sensing my misery, sitting alone in "this damned place" my DH has just telephoned and suggested we go to the pub for supper. I mean I know its just a pub supper, nothing remotely posh or exciting about it, but hey ho, its better than nowt. I'm smiling, which hard to believe I know, but I am.

BBBevan, much easier, she will only be just over an hour away and is going to buy a car. Lot closer that Cornwall ?

I am happy because I thought that I had to go somewhere and I didn't want to. But I don't have to go now so I can relax and chill
