Prescription sunglasses

I wear varifocal glasses all the time, and also have varifocal sunglasses for driving.

I always use Asda for my glasses, no hidden extras with them. Always been great quality and never had a problem with the glasses. Two pairs of varifocal [ one sunglasses ] two years ago cost me £140. You can't get anything that price on the high street. Boots and Vision Express usually want well over £300 for one pair!

I have always had prescription sunglasses I get them on a "bogof" free offer,I always use them when reading in sunlight and find they take the strain from my eyes.
I will order another pair when I go to be retested after my second cataract operation next week as my prescription will change considerably.

I have prescription sunglasses, Jackie Kennedy type large ones and they are brilliant but are not varifocals as I could not get away with them.

My goggles never cost less than £400 so a sunglasses pair would be very expensive, and my prescription frequently changes.

I wear sunglasses that go over my glasses - cheap and cheerful from amazon and no marks on the lenses as you get with clip-ons.

I've got prescription varifocal glasses which go darker in the sunshine. I wouldn't and couldn't do without them.

My (independent) optician gave a 20% discount on the sunglasses which probably ended up about the same.

Somehow the 'free second pair' always works out expensive for me. There always seems to be a clause about 'special' lenses or similar and extra charges accrue. Very frustrating.

I've had prescription sunglasses for many years and I wouldn't want to be without them. I only need glasses for driving now but, as I've got older, I find that I can't cope with bright light as much as I used to. So I use my script sunglasses a lot more than my ordinary ones and not just for driving.

I got mine as the "free 2nd pair" too.

My husband took advantage of the special offer and got his varifocal sunglasses free. He is very happy with them.

I always used to have prescription sunglasses. However, this summer I was found to need a very big change of prescription and last year's sunglass lenses now don't do at all. I was too stingy to fork out for yet another pair of prescription sunglasses.

I have sunglasses for driving and reactolite reading glasses as I often read in the garden wouldn’t be without either. I am considering getting varifocals to save keep switching but I tried varifocals years ago and didn’t get on with them.

I have varifocal glasses which I wear all the time and I wouldn’t be without the sunglasses. They are great for driving all year round, even in the winter when the sun is low in the sky. Afraid I would look like my mother if I had clip ons!

I wear varifocals with colour changing lenses. Would not be without them. Saves all the hassle of carrying another pair of glasses.
More recently my husband and I have treated ourselves to prescription swimming goggles. Cost around £30 and these are fantastic. He is really shortsighted and I use to have to shout to get him to locate me. I found they really helped me see to walk to and from the pool. Being able to look up and watch the birds etc after swimming was a treat.

I treated myself to varifocal sunglasses (Joules) when I get my last pair of glasses.
I had previously had photochromic lenses which, while useful because I didn’t have to carry a second pair, went so dark in bright sunlight that entering a darker interior- pub, restaurant or shop- rendered me quite blind for a few minutes while they cleared!
I prefer the sunglasses! ?

I’ve also got a pair, these are my second pair and now would always have them for the summer.
They make driving more comfortable and have a different light filtering from the reactolight lenses in my normal glasses.
Most opticians have a wide choice of frames.

If you wear glasses all the time, as one of my daughters does, they’re great, but I only wear them for reading, so if I’m reading in the garden, and look up, it’s very disorientating, I’m constantly switching sun glasses

I've got some. Mine are 'designer' and really impressed one dgs! I'm so impressed I cant remember the designer!!

I think they are worth it because the way our eyes deal with light changes s we age. I do forget to put them on though

I'll perhaps only change them onalternate years.

I got some as my second discounted pair. The frames are nothing like as gorgeous as my non prescription designer ones ha!

But they do come in handy - although I shan’t upgrade them over time. They’ll do. They are varifocal for distance and reading.
