Dame Judy certainly knows how to dress. See todays DM.

Lovely shop Hampstead Bazaar. I bought my silk jacket and trousers for DD3’s wedding there.

Amagran Sat 27-Jul-19 10:05:54

Am I the only one who doesn't have a clue what DM is??

ToadsMum Sat 27-Jul-19 10:05:51

I believe she is a fan of Hampstead Bazaar.

We once spent an evening with some people we didn’t know very well, friends of friends, when we left my husband asked why the woman in question kept this huge pashmina over her shoulder all night, draping over her stomach, because she’s fat of course, I replied, rather ungraciously, I’m hardly Twiggy! But it’s such a stupid look, fools no one (except possibly my husband)

ha ha Alexa, no it was up a mountain somewhere. Being the daredevil I was, I just carried on. Years later, it turns out I had a broken leg.

Alexa Fri 26-Jul-19 14:57:14

Was the horse in John Lewis?

(Sorry !)

Lessismore Thu 25-Jul-19 12:41:42

I'm a bit old and my body shape has changed drastically post menopause.

I quite like clothes, perfume and a little jewelry sometimes.

A horse stamped on me, so one leg is an awful shape. I usually wear trousers.

Alexa Thu 25-Jul-19 12:31:39

Right Gabriella. I'm old and my body shape has changed yearly so I have enjoyed trying to disguise my dowager's hump and swollen ankles while not appearing dowdy. Not beaten yet!

Thanks Phoenix for advice re VO5 gel spray.

What do they say - when you get older it's either your face or your figure.

merlotgran Wed 24-Jul-19 23:04:43

I do agree with the scarf over one shoulder habit.

Makes a big woman look even bigger.

It would drive me mad and probably get trapped in a door.

Nico97 Wed 24-Jul-19 23:02:01

Ooh so am I so I must be gorgeous too grin

lemongrove Wed 24-Jul-19 23:00:59

Yes, Judi is too ( although you would never guess)?

lemongrove Wed 24-Jul-19 22:59:27

I certainly am BradfordLass grin

BradfordLass72 Wed 24-Jul-19 21:35:32

Of course she's gorgeous - she's a Yorkshire Lass grin

As regards linen, I travelled 30 miles by car wearing a linen shirt recently and arrived looking like a large crumpled napkin.

lemongrove Wed 24-Jul-19 20:18:03

I don’t like Judy Dench’s ‘style’ at all, it doesn’t suit her ( you need to be tall and slim for it.)

lemongrove Wed 24-Jul-19 20:15:50

I bet that you’re not a shrivelled old prune either Less....
In fact I think I would put money on nobody on GN being a shrivelled old prune.I do like prunes, with plain yoghurt.
But not shrivelled ones.wink

Lessismore Wed 24-Jul-19 19:54:37

Coolgran.....stuff it. I bet you are a nice person and a good laugh, and not a shrivelled old prune.

Coolgran65 Wed 24-Jul-19 19:42:39

Fabulous long white coat.
I'd love it. It's typical of a couple of woollen long cardicoats that I have.
I think Dame Judi dresses beautifully, with grace. It's very much how I dress.

GabrillaG54 your post cuts the feet from below anyone who is overweight, like myself, and who tries to still dress as well as possible. It would have been sufficient that you commented on the style and not got sneeringly onto the fat shaming.
Indeed I often wonder if your purpose is simply to 'poke the bear' and see if you can make him roar.

seacliff Wed 24-Jul-19 19:06:48

Ha …. I knew it wouldn't last smile

phoenix Wed 24-Jul-19 18:50:40

blush

Callistemon Wed 24-Jul-19 18:14:11

I remember shopping in Bath many years ago with a friend; we looked in one small shop window and my friend said "this shop is full of Judi Dench clothes"!

I suppose if you find a style which suits you (and can afford it) why change?

phoenix Wed 24-Jul-19 17:55:08

GabriellaG54 you forgot Jenny Murray.

Full of goodwill & kind thoughts as ever.........

Lessismore Wed 24-Jul-19 17:52:08
