Dame Judy certainly knows how to dress. See todays DM.

lizzypopbottle Sat 27-Jul-19 18:17:55

I wear all white several times a week. It's called a karate suit! But everyone else is dressed exactly the same, regardless of size, shape or age! I accessorise with a black belt and support sock! ?

White linen + 4 year olds shock

Nothing against linen but every time I wear anything white I spill something down it.
Well, I spill stuff quite frequently in fact, but it shows up more on white!

Lessismore Sat 27-Jul-19 17:05:39

Ah kwest, How I envy the height thing.

Fairydoll2030 Sat 27-Jul-19 16:40:14

Seriously, I know Tracy Ullman is a brilliant impressionist, but no one surely believes she could be Judi Dench in the Youtube clip.

Now, Tracey Ullman as Camilla, that’s another story......

Hilarybee Sat 27-Jul-19 16:38:16

It’s Tracey ullman doing an impersonation of dame Judy.

kwest Sat 27-Jul-19 16:32:49

She is my style guru. Same sort of shape, hair and height.
I think she always looks good. She has found shapes that suit her. The drape over the shoulder is supposed to elongate the body and another perpendicular line is meant to visually slim. I have never managed to 'carry off' extra bits flapping around , I am too clumsy and find them irritating.

lemongrove Sat 27-Jul-19 16:31:08

Yes agreed, a certain amount of crumpledness is part of the linen look, but......it does no favours to larger ladies, (or men) let’s be honest ( and I include myself in that).

lemongrove Sat 27-Jul-19 16:27:29

crazyH ! ?what were you thinking of? An off white linen dress for a 4 year old’s party?! ?
Well, when you return home, straight into the washing machine with it...you know how chocolate cake stains.??

oldgaijin Sat 27-Jul-19 16:22:01

That’s not dame JD in the uTube clip...it’s Tracey Ullman.

Sara65 Sat 27-Jul-19 14:44:16

CrazyH

I had that dilemma yesterday, I too opted for the see through look.

crazyH Sat 27-Jul-19 14:37:40

Right now I am in an off-white linen dress - going to grandson's 4th bday party. Only thing is, I haven't got a slip underneath, just bra and knickers. Who cares? Comfort before decency ?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sat 27-Jul-19 14:26:10

I love Dame Judi's style and think she looks very elegant. We're about the same height and my hair is similar in the way it's cut but it doesn't look half as good.

Amagran: DM - Daily Mail: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7279043/Judi-Dench-leads-celebrity-support-Mails-dementia-care-campaign.html I'm getting used to the acronyms....!

Maccyt1955 Sat 27-Jul-19 12:42:06

I am confused. The YouTube clip was Tracey Ullman dressed as Judy Dench, yes!

Sara65 Sat 27-Jul-19 12:25:21

Saggi

When I put on a linen dress in the morning, I know I’m going to end up looking creased and crumpled, but I like that look

Barmeyoldbat

I agree, cool, comfy and becoming

Saggi Sat 27-Jul-19 12:06:19

To all..... linen is SUPPOSED to look crumpled. I have a friend who won’t wear this glorious material because she’s addicted to neatness and ironing! What’s that all about?

annodomini Sat 27-Jul-19 12:03:45

How does anyone keep a scarf like that over her shoulder? It would constantly slip off mine. Is there a secret? Velcro, perhaps?

Quizzer Sat 27-Jul-19 11:57:44

I love Dame Judi. If I had her money and her stylist I could probably look that good too! envy

Barmeyoldbat Sat 27-Jul-19 11:57:03

Gab54 I wear loose shapeless clothing but I am far from overweight and people think I am younger than I am. Its suits me, I feel cool in hot weather and I can move around easily. Its a dress code I have followed after living and staying in Asia. Try it

PenJK50 Sat 27-Jul-19 11:48:37

Her style is the Sahara type - for the middle aged ladies who no longer have perfect figures but want to look stylish. Expensive but timeless clothing. I’m certain Dame Judi shops there.

cc Sat 27-Jul-19 10:57:59

Calistemon I live in Bath and I know the shop you mean, it is actually a branch of the same shop and have shown pictures of Dame JD in there.

cc Sat 27-Jul-19 10:54:35

Those square, loose hanging clothes certainly don't suit everybody - they make me look like a tank wrapped in dust sheets.

Lessismore Sat 27-Jul-19 10:14:21

dear me, fat women with scarves, outrageous. They should be locked away and not allowed out.

Nanny41 Sat 27-Jul-19 10:10:26

I love Dame Judy, brilliant actress, and I adore her hair style,I would love my hair to be like that.I havent seen the photo everyone is mentioning, but in my eyes she cant go wrong.
