Gosh so
Much since I was last here. Have just posted in the moaning thread and now need a rest as it took me ages to sort it out and remove typos and so on. May pop back later with home made jam

Welcome back MawB!

ckinstarner Sat 03-Aug-19 20:13:05

We lost our cat last November aged 18 and a half. They grew old together!

NanaandGrampy Sat 03-Aug-19 18:45:15

Evening all,

welcome back Maw - its like you never left lol !!

We are determined to watch the end of Chernobyl. Its so dark I can only watch it a bit at a time but we have had it recorded for a while so its time to get it done.

Its been a day of bits and bobs and tomorrow looks the same , so I shall wish you all a good evening and see you all tomorrow---I'm taking an ice-cream with me :-)

kittylester Sat 03-Aug-19 18:39:18

Hi maw, nice to see you back. wine

I'll just nip up with my ironing soop, it wont take long. grin

We had a lovely day at the Space Centre and the children were enthralled by the special shows that whizzed us through the sky. I really could have done with a sick bag!

The day was rather spoilt by getting a message from a niece (daughter of the lothario) asking to chat about a problem. I haven't been able to contact her since so heaven knows what that's about.

I'm envying those of you with small families at the moment.

Back tomorrow but TOYA in the meantime.

soop Sat 03-Aug-19 17:51:02

Yo! Ironing done. I am all sweaty/hot aglow. I sense a heaviness in the air. We haven't had a storm thus far this summer. Perhaps a little later.

Please will you lot keep a close eye on Maw. She is confined to the kitchen whether she likes it, or not. wink

Time for a quick shower. I shall then slip into my comfy 'jamas for a restful evening.

TOYA smile moon

soop Sat 03-Aug-19 14:58:42

I have never seen so many offers of shared ice cream. Best tuck in. It's a very warm day. The kitchen will need a packet of wet wipes at the ready.

Off to do my ironing. Someone has to do it. Might as well be moi.

soop Sat 03-Aug-19 14:56:35

soop Sat 03-Aug-19 13:53:36

Wishing our lovely Kitcheners a peaceful Saturday. Peace is priceless, methinks.

N&G We cannot get enough of the tranquility of the sea and watching the wee creatures busying themselves in the untamed back garden. We shall be going to the big city very soon, to meet up with son number three. To be honest, apart from spending time with him (and Baggs, on the journey home), I have no wish to linger in the hustle and bustle of city life.

Hello, Harrigran, it's always good to have your company. sunshine

Maw...Why are we waiting? Your chaise awaits. I may even share a choc ice cream with you, providing you return pretty damn quick!

NanaandGrampy Sat 03-Aug-19 09:25:57

Morning all,

You hit the nail right on the head GrannieQ . Having lived ina city all our lives we love everything about our new rural life. We marvel at the machinery that trundles down the lanes , not moaning about the 5mph drive. We revel in the sight of the pheasant or deer , slowing down and even pulling over to avoid squashing anything lol

And our view to us, is priceless. When we mention it to villagers who have had the privilege of living here all their lives the usual response is ' but its just a field' . But to us its a window into nature with the passing wildlife and ever changing seasons.

I also know what you mean about GDs , our is 12 , going on 24 :-) I love her endlessly but am delighted to see her testing her wits with her parents and not us !!

Happy days all !

mumofmadboys Sat 03-Aug-19 06:46:12

So sorry to hear morethan's news. Wishing more than strength and courage for the days ahead.
I have been away for a week so just getting used to being at home again without our dog. It is odd as for the last 15 1/2 years I have walked her first thing in the morning and now I don't have to get up!
Hope Maw comes back. She will be much missed.

harrigran Sat 03-Aug-19 05:07:04

As I am up, pacing the floor yet again, I thought I would catch up with GN.
Sending best wishes to morethan, thinking of you.

galen can you ask *maw to re-consider. She always had something interesting to say and being Scottish I loved the link to the broons

grannyqueenie Fri 02-Aug-19 23:08:45

For whatever reason I’ve not really made it into the kitchen, even to peep, for a few days. We enjoyed having dd2’s lovable dog with us at the beginning of the week then had a day on granny duty for dd1. Said gd is 11 and having always been independent is now desperate to widen her horizons in preparation for high school in September. I love her dearly but I’m glad I’m only the granny and not her mum!

Hope maw reincarnates after a rest away from the contrasting and sometimes confusing world of gransnet which can be uplifting/frustrating/depressing/inspiring - all depending on where you hang out!

Ann once again you’ve suffered at the hand, or should I say the tongue, of a thoughtless “friend”. Even if unintentional, such comments are so hurtful. I guess it’s just the sort of thing you’d automatically have told your dh about, with a wry smile, which makes it all the more poignant. flowers

soop with a beautiful sunset like that to enjoy you’ve every excuse for getting nothing done! Let’s face it all the jobs will still be there in the morning, but some things are too important to miss. That’s my excuse anyway!

corner like you I’ve no siblings, I'm sure that’s why I had so many children! Even now I often wish I had a brother or sister, but then I spend a bit of time with my bil... kitty you have my sympathy! I’ve told my children that I definitely got the “best brother” and they know just what I mean!

N&G so glad you enjoyed meeting up with the greydusters and cake too, perfect! The views from your garden look great, do you think folk who’ve moved from a less rural environment take greater pleasure in the everyday stuff? I know we do, even after almost 11 years here it still tickles me that I can see hills driving along towards our road!

panache, I’ve loved hearing about how your new apartment is gradually becoming a much loved home, tone you’re both taking such pleasure in creating. Good luck for the garage sale this weekend.

Time for bed apologies to any I’ve forgotten, as always toya! Night all, sleep tight.

Carillion01 Fri 02-Aug-19 22:37:54

It's late but I hope ann that you have been able to manage this day. ?

Lins1066 Fri 02-Aug-19 22:14:37

Best Wished to Maw. She has been very kind to me since joining GT. I wish her well, please come back.

Hope the garage sale goes well for the Panaches tomorrow.
TOYA

Nannytopsy Fri 02-Aug-19 21:40:58

Galen please send best wishes to Maw. She is missed and we all think of Paw too x

callgirl1 Fri 02-Aug-19 21:36:03

Ann, I can`t believe the insensitivity of your so-called friend! doesn't she realise what you have gone through, and are going through? Ignore her and cut her off, she isn`t worth your friendship.
Panache, good to hear that your new abode is gradually coming together.
Nice pics N&G.
One last thing...………………..

Maw, get yourself back here, NOW!!!
