The land is dry, and the people are ...stupid?
Engagement Party and then Hen Party
Welcome to all...it's good to have your company. You are special peoples.

Nannytopsy I do love a busy British beach! ? n&g I hope it’s bette than your fear ?. Will pop back later toya
Morning all
I am sitting at the dentists waiting for the guillotine to fall ! I should brought my knitting !
Let me just say diazepam has done NOTHING for me flight response ?
If Grampy wasn’t sat in the car with the keys I’d make a break for it !!
Can cake be liquidised? ?
I am sure I have posted this before but the American SiL of a friend of mine, who was a Realtor , estate agent to us, used to advise clients whose houses were not selling, to bury a statue of St Joseph in the garden , it apparently works.
He is the patron Saint of craftsmen but also of selling houses!!
Perhaps you should try it Panache.
Pleasant morning here and I must reluctantly "get on" I have lots to do.
Morning all! How busy is this kitchen?!
Galen I hope you are up to date with your vaccinations if you plan to visit the Argy again.
Panache I am sorry to hear your news - it is a worry I have in my mind but I have not put into words in case I jinx our sale.
If any of you were listening to the cricket on Sunday afternoon, my nephew and his son had a long mention from the TMS team, after taking them a chocolate cake. They gave a “get well soon” to my brother too!
We went to see DS and family yesterday at their glamming holiday near to Woodbridge, than spent an afternoon at Southwold before back to camp for a BBQ. Then we drove home.
The photo shows clouds which luckily passed us by! A lazy day today I think!
Goodness gracious me Galen I'll have to go and look in the argy, not that I'm nosey mind.
Greyd you've had an awful day, four hours is ridiculous and then to have them tell you that. As N&G says, we'll keep your spirits up. ?
Panache what a let down for you both. I'm sure that that you'll have a buyer soon, your house is in a lovely spot.
We shall keep your spirits up too - mine's a G&T.
corner, what a palaver when all you wanted was to return the wallet. You deserve a medal.
Maw, that poor child. I can't imagine what his parents are going through, such a senseless, barbaric act.
I loved Izabella's entertaining descriptions. Also your Tales from the Country N&G. I was brought up in lovely countryside and although I love living by the coast for nearly 35 years now, I miss the trees. I can tell you the name of most trees from seeing each leaf. My DH is a townie and couldn't tell an oak leaf from a sycamore.
My foot is aching, I've done too much walking today so I'm off to rest it. I have a hydrotherapy session tomorrow, probably the last one. They have been so beneficial, I am now walking without a stick and less like a penguin.
TOYA.
Gordon Bennet!
I just looked at the argy ??
What sort of people are they?
I’m really shocked and I’ve come over all peculiar!
Think I’ll go and have a quiet lie down in a dark room.
Blimey dragonfly 'they' certainly need lessons in communicating with patients. Ignore them, after all what can anyone know of another's physical experience?
I can now see the beds. Just a little pile of receipts to put away and we are as prepared as we can be for the invasion. It will be enjoyable, just wish I had more energy to even think about it. I've discovered that long days out (6.30am to 11pm yesterday) take more than a nights sleep to recover from. Wimp, that's me.
Thanks Baggs for letting us know about soop, I imagine there is blue air.
Your description of the wildlife is just magical n&g, not much here today other than cats with their noses in the air as they wander past and the occasional seagull, noisy creatures they make their presence known. I did watch a hedgehog run around out the front a couple of nights ago, no idea where he/she lives, perhaps under the shrubbery at the front. Certainly a busy little soul, fortunately nothing to disturb the rummaging.
See you all once the young ones have departed and the usual level of Corner-Chaos has resumed.
TOYA.
Dragonfly
The worst bit was when they told me I would never feel the same again!! Still it is what it is
What a rubbish thing to say - I hope you can look forward to feeling much better!
People can be so unhelpful, can’t they?
Annsixty I just wanted to say I fully understand your reluctance to go away, even although you know you will enjoy it. I think it is very understandable and actually quite common to hunker down after a bereavement in the security and familiar surroundings of home.
I had to make a mammoth effort to join DD, SIL and his parents plus Flynn the other week in Norfolk - for two pins I would have cancelled. I was also not altogether sorry when my visit to my brother in Wilmslow last week was cancelled (but sorry he is poorly) and am secretly worrying that I will find it hard to go on holiday in September. And I think I am getting worse, not better in this respect.
The thing is not to give in - you will enjoy it, just go with the flow.
Afternoon all ( except The Soops !!)
Glad it was just your router Baggs!
Dragonfly that was incredibly unhelpful comment from the medics. For goodness sake positivity is key , not trampling your soul ! Don't you worry - we'll help keep your spirits up.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your visit once you get there Ann .
I am stunned at the news of the little boy being thrown from the 10th floor and there is a part of me that says surely not.... who could even imagine anything so horrible.
The sun is out here and we are awash with wildlife. Sam and the resident hedgehog came nose to nose last night - I'm not sure which one was most disconcerted ! Then the newly harvested field is full of partridges running hither and thither on important matters. And our morning coffee was serenaded by a nest stuffed with baby birds in the hedge. I think they are blackbirds but we don't want to get too close and interrupt the mum and dad.
I am away to throw together whatever is in the fridge for dinner. I am back to the dentists for extractions tomorrow so may be missing in action ( hopefully not forever lol) so don't eat all the cake- I might need some !!!
Hello kitcherers! The Soops are suffering internet connection woes again. I’m the messenger.
Thunderstorm a few days ago fried our router. We heard it sizzle. Had to get another.
Also they are not sure when the op is - which is a bit disconcerting.
Maw that story of the little boy sent shivers down my spine also. As you say danger lurks everywhere. I am acutely aware of how vulnerable we are when using the tube in London. It is so easy to be pushed on the tracks.
Sorry to hear you are low Ann - maybe you will pick up at your daughter's. I know how you feel though about not going but it will be good for you to go.
Corner I found a credit card in a machine once. Trying to ring the bank was a nightmare - they kept sending me round in circles until eventually I managed to convince someone I was doing them a favour.
The pre-op took hours. Fortunately nobody checked the ticket on my car. The worst bit was when they told me I would never feel the same again!! Still it is what it is!
So sorry ann but I forgot to comment on you falling, hope no physical ill effects, not a buoyant time for you at the moment on any level. I hope you can get the strength to gather things as once you get to your daughter I’m sure you’ll feel better. Motivation can be in so elusive sometimes, be gentle with yourself. Take care.
I’ve just had an hour’s chat to a friend on the phone, not my doing as she called me, so back to those flipping beds. They are there somewhere
.
Sorry to hear your news Panache
One step forward two steps back.
I am tired and low today and trying to get a few bits together to go to my D’s on Thursday, quite frankly if I could get out of going I would, but I know that would be wrong.
I need a good dose of motivation but it doesn’t come in bottles.
Izabella you are an inspiration.
Dragonfly good luck with the pre-op.
To all the rest of you kindest and best wishes.
Agree maw, the news of the child at Tate Modern sent shivers down my spine. Our Littlest also talks to anyone within hearing distance. How to balance natural friendliness and safety is a worrying tightrope.
Cornerland is grumpy with tiredness and has its frustrations today. Yesterday morning I noticed a phone wallet by the side of the road, phone , cards cash and all sorts inside. No address.
We were off to catch a coach for a day out. Both imagining the owner’s panic and worry once at the bus stop I tried 101 to report it was safe if on its way out of town for the day. No luck, not permitted to report ‘found’ things, they have to be taken to a police facility. I then tried the emergency number for one of the cards in the hope the bank would tell it’s customer. No luck, without a date of birth couldn’t navigate the phone system.
So this morning we’ve driven 6 miles, paid over £3 to park the car to deposit it at our nearest police drop in facility. Of course the right thing to do but what a frustrating process. When did life get so complicated
. We did manage a coffee afterwards and yesterday was good if exhausting so not all bad
Beautiful photos grannyq and soop, so sorry about the house sale panache, chin up, you’ll get there. One of ours is always late barmyoldbat, I plan for it now
.
Doesn’t a good nights sleep make the world a better place izabella? I’m jolly tired today so taking more notice of life’s frustrations. Thinking of you today with your pre op assessment dragonfly, hope it has been reassuring. Good to see you back Greyd.
Right, tasks calling. We’ve got two of our young ones here for the next two days, I could probably fill a skip with the ‘stuff’ on their beds at the moment so had better get clearing.
TOYA, I’ll try to be less grumpy next time I pop in.
Barmeyoldbat What is your dear son's excuse?
Has he arrived? Is he making himself useful?
Panache Us lot are your invisible back-up army of supporters.
Maw It is nigh on impossible to understand how anyone could do such an evil thing to that young boy. It's natural for Us lot to fear for our grandchildren. A nightmare for anyone with the responsibility of taking care of a child. Why are people more brutal than I can remember as a child? How on earth do the parents of the offender cope with the actions of their son? I would die from shame.
Izabella Your posts are delightful.
Dragonfly You are never too far from my thoughts. Please keep us updated.
granniequeenie...ain't Mother Nature grand! We have lace-cap hydrangeas in our garden. I love the contrasting shades of blue/purple in the flower head.
Exactly Panache - what hell must that poor mother be going through? I kept imagining (and trying not to) a situation where I was looking after a grandchild- and it doesn’t bear thinking!
So sorry to hear about your house sale, but it sounds as if it was outwith your control, chains so often break down- but sometimes revive, so all may not be lost.
Thank goodness you were able to move when you did though and were not hanging on.
I am sitting waiting for my son to arrive to do a few jobs for me. He did say he would be over about 8.30 to 9 but so far he hasn't arrived. This isn't a surprise he is always late, the only time he was on time was when he was born.
Your news Maw was awful, just so awful and it will just keep going on around and around your mind. I hope you all recover soon and that the nightmare starts to fade.
I suppose I could phone my son and see where he is, cant waste anymore of the day.
If feeling off colour and in need of a pick me up drop by Izabella`s after reading her posts you are sure of smiling all day!!
Thank you for such humour and descriptions that bring us to the spot.
Actually an Auction was actually discussed a while ago but discounted when we were told we would loose out massively........but again,in the light of what has happened it may well be re considered. You are all so full of helpful suggestions, thank you my friends.
Bless you one and all for your caring messages.
Again it seems much less important to your post Maw relating this most awful tragedy at Tate Modern,of course you would be thinking of your own Flynn..........but at the same time, very sadly, the little lad was someone`s son.
What on earth is happening to our little world?
Such scary times.
The weather has again picked up with practically no rain at all,in fact another dry and sunny week ahead here on our western coast it seems.
Sending love and blessings to you all,may you enjoy each new day and may those buggerations vanish sharply!!
Oh God, no, Maw, I didn’t hear that news. Having a very friendly 6 y o grandson I shuddered when I read your post, and he was nowhere near Tate Modern. Truly awful.
I really enjoyed your long post and your wonderful descriptions of the unusually quiet birds. I liked the PS too. What a lovely god daughter you have!
I wonder if anybody else felt as sick as I did last night when I heard of the poor little 6 year old boy who had been thrown off the 10th floor of Tate Modern by what has to be a psychopath?
I have had nightmares and imagined all sorts of horrors in the night thinking how close anybody can be to tragedy.
DD, SIL and Flynn were meeting friends at Tate Modern yesterday afternoon, and Flynn is such a sociable and friendly little boy he will engage with complete strangers (mostly men) and say things like “ Hello man, what’s you name? “ and show them his Spider-Man/Wolfie/Spongebob Squarepants or whatever toy he has brought with him.
Thank God the little boy is now said to be stable but could so easily have been killed. Shudders.
