Morning all .

Happy ,Happy, Happy, Happy, Birthday Soop !! I hope the sunshine shines on you all day and you have a wonderful day.

Have a lovely day grannieQ with your girlies, the unexpected ones often turn out to be the best.

There's very little 'good eggyness' going on here grey LOL I am lisping like I was born to be in Just William , and I am sick of it !! But I shall just have to suck it up and see what next Thursday brings. Trauma I fear as the reluctant tooth is no where near as wobbly as the the one already departed and I am not sure removing it is the best course of action - my dentist wont be happy I fear .

Thank you all for your kind words about my dental phobia . Its irrational and I seem to spend my life apologising for it. The worst thing is I know I'm not a scaredy cat - in my youth I was shot at , rioted round and blown up LOL and not once did I ever look to hide behind the sofa but the mere mention of dentists has me quaking in my boots !!

Kitty would the dentist you are sleeping with come out of retirement for me- he sounds wonderful.

We are now prepping for the arrival of the 2 little boys next week + Mummy. Our little ones , to ensure that ALL the best snacks are available at our house usually send me a list - I have attached the picture of Jacksons !!

Thee you all later ;-p

Good morning! Just a quick visit to this very quiet kitchen before the giggly 12 and 10 year old gds descend. Not a visit I was expecting, wouldn't have planned to entertain 8 friends tonight if I’d known! But dd2 has a busy work week, so it’s granny to the rescue, and granny it will be as grandpa conveniently has a volunteering day to be at! I’m hoping they’re on good form and happy to potter. Oh here they come...have a good day all!

Nannytopsy Thu 08-Aug-19 08:06:26

Ooh chocolate for breakfast! Thank you FMA!

Feelingmyage55 Thu 08-Aug-19 00:46:35

Evening all. My heart aches for the panaches. dragonfly I hope your nearest and dearest are cosseting you. soop. Are you still cut off?
I am back from a week with family. By tacit agreement we ignored our phones and tablets except for quick checks. A lovely time was had by all as we chatted and enjoyed the companionship. The weather was irrelevant, we made time to listen and laugh together.
I am awake listening to the rain lashing down outside and thinking about all the problems it is causing. The roads here closed briefly and have reopened but are dangerous with surface water. quiet day for me tomorrow sorting out the garden and getting ready for visitors. I bought some special chocolates on holiday and will leave some on the side for coffee time tomorrow. So even if the the sun does not shine there is at least chocolate. TOYA

I found Mary's scone recipe quite poor, until I found the one for devon scones. It makes a lovely scone, especially with sultanas added. Not looking forward to the next couple of days. We are having new flooring in the kitchen before it being decorated. All the appliances have to be removed so the 2nd bedroom will be full of cooker, fridge dishwasher etc; Will have extension cables all over the place. Oh well, it will be worth it (Ihope). TOYA.

Hello thekitchen! I am a long way behind in the kitchen gallop, having failed to post since Sunday, as I was still on North Norfolk time! So I will beg your forgiveness as I can just about remember Panache’s sale falling through, Soop’s internet falling through (buggeration!), *Ann going to stay with her daughter (I hope she is safely arrived and will have a nice time!), and N&G who is a good egg, holding up a good egg, and then being seriously let down by her dentist who doesn’t sound like a good egg, unlike the dentist Kitty sleeps with who is definitely a good egg! Phew! Any post it notes to spare, Izabella?
Since our little holiday, our life has been filled with fun stuff like looking at carpets and curtains ?; DH putting things in the loft and me sending him back up to take them out again; cutting recalcitrant hedges and watching heavy rain and wind batter my poor garden to bits! On the plus side, we found a box of DH’s camcorder discs of GS’s early years and have been working our way through watching them on the TV. Such things are a complete joy - so much stuff we had forgotten about (when I was able to get down and play on the floor, for one thing!!). He is on holiday and we have missed him sorely this week, so it sort of filled a gap!
I made some scones this afternoon, from a Mary Berry recipe. She seriously let me down as once again they didn’t rise to the occasion, but they tasted good, so I will leave some on the side with strawberry jam and cream.

So sorry to hear about your trials at the dentist N&G. My mother had a phobia of dentists consequently when I was 15 and decided to go on my own I had a multitude of fillings. The dentist was so lovely I have not been frightened since. I now have a mouth full of crowns and regard the dentist as my friend.

I can imagine your fatigue Kitty. I love my DGC but they are exhausting. I don't know where I got the energy from for my own children.

I do hope you have a lovely time with your D Anne.

Took DH to the physio for 8am this morning but after that had lunch with an old friend. Had a lovely day.

No more hospital visits this week. Just a CT scan on Sunday.

soop Wed 07-Aug-19 17:37:16

Internet connection restored about twenty minutes ago. That blue light was akin to being told that I had won something in a raffle. grin

No way can I read through and take on board all the latest news. Thank you, Baggs for being my trusty messenger.

I did read with utter dismay the comment that dragonfly shared with us. What on earth is wrong with some folk? Whatever happened to a considerate bedside manner? I am feeling angry on her behalf.

I see mention of dentist appointments. I cringe at the very thought of sitting in that chair, mouth agape, trembling with terror. I will learn more on the matter tomorrow.

MacSporran has an early appointment with the hospital tomorrow morning. He's having the regular removal of sun-damaged growths removed from his scalp. When he returns, we are away to our favourite coffee shop for elevenses and cupcake (the calorie rich kind). Then, in the evening, we are going to have a birthday celebration meal with good pals of ours. I shall be a very young at heart 78. Woop woop!!!

Until tomorrow morning, unless the internet is down again, I shall leave you all with TOYA and hopefully, I shall return to spend a little more time with you.

Here is last night's sunset. smile moon

Hello everyone! Just been and had 4 new tyres fitted ?. It’s only money!! Worth every penny as it is the car with the car seats for DGC.
Bulky waste items on the drive ready for collection tomorrow, bin full and my jam jar collection in the recycling! (Well I kept a few! ?) We may be ready when we get a moving date if we keep this up.
My sympathies to all who dislike dentists - I have got better over the last 28 years with a very kind chap but now I shall have to find a new one.
Ok, feeling like Soop, I am off to start ironing!
TOYA

So sorry for those with the dentist phobia. I have had hours of dental work after an RTC some years ago and I have no fear of it. I used to be the worlds worst arachnophobe but now cured after being immersed in them in Africa during a trip in a dugout. Life is so much better without phobias, so perhaps some sort of therapy would help?

Panache I have messaged you. kittylester i hope you are less jiggered this afternoon. I am a little discombobulated today having eventually arisen at 1100hrs so I will leave you all in peace, in the knowledge that tomorrow is another day. TOYA

Doodle Tue 06-Aug-19 20:58:31

ann sorry you have not had a satisfactory outcome with the care home management but I think you are wise for your own sanity to put it behind you. The problem with all these things is that the emotionally uninvolved can distance themselves from the unfairness and just carry on as normal. Hope you get on well with your DD.

Doodle Tue 06-Aug-19 20:54:40

kitty I am so glad the dentist you sleep with wouldn’t keep you waiting for an hour. If the man I sleep with kept me waiting more than 10 minutes I would be so deeply asleep nothing would wake me up. Do you have to make an appointment? ?

annsixty Tue 06-Aug-19 18:53:01

So sorry for you dental phobics, it is truly awful.

My GD is needle phobic after several ops as a small child and then meningitis when she was 4.
She knows it is irrational, it doesnt make it easier.

I have had a very long involved conversation with head office of the company who ran fhe care home my H was in.
They are in no doubt as to the shortcomings of the management team there.
I will now pay the unjust last bill and put it all behind me.
I need to do that to move on and try and do things.

Partly sorted things to go to my D"s, just need putting them in a bag tomorrow .
Just having a glass of red outside.
I am in need of chilling.

angelic Tue 06-Aug-19 18:03:55

N & G
You were very brave to go and it must have taken a great deal of courage, and now you have to go back again!!!
I also have a dental phobia after my last appointment 5 years ago (I will not go back) the appt was horrendous and I suffered greatly after.

kittylester Tue 06-Aug-19 17:59:04

Just popping in to see how everyone is. Completely jiggered having had a 7 year old hyper active boy here for 2 days.

I'm sorry about your dental experience n&g. They are not all bad and the one I sleep with was renowned for putting nervous people at their ease. He would never keep you waiting for an hour. That is counterproductive. He would suggested you rebook if he was that far behind. And, you would have heaved a sign of relief. grin

Expecting Ds2 in a minute so TOYA and hope to come back later.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 06-Aug-19 16:18:00

N&G sending you love and hugs (I have a phobia of all things dental) you have been very very brave ???

Charleygirl5 Tue 06-Aug-19 16:04:58

N&G what a pity it could not all have been sorted out today as you had mentally prepared yourself. That really is a buggeration.

Susan56 Tue 06-Aug-19 16:02:02

N&G how awful for you.I share your fear of dentists and have only admiration for you that you waited an hour without running out the door.Hope you feel better soon?and I’m sure the little boys will cheer you up.
TOYA

Carillion01 Tue 06-Aug-19 15:34:55

Dear N&G only a quick opportunity to have internet access today as our live box is having a 'funny do' but I wanted to send big hugs (((xx?))) to you after what you've had to put up with today at the dentists.

As I said, haven't been on for a few days but have had a quick read of the kitchen and love your photograph! Xx take care xx
Hope our internet access will soon be resumed as normal!

To all kitcheners TOYA xxx

grannyqueenie Tue 06-Aug-19 13:24:13

An hour for any ? patient is not good, for a nervous one it’s dreadful. Hope the little boys are as good as gold and a tonic too. ?

Nannytopsy Tue 06-Aug-19 12:56:21

N&G thanks

NanaandGrampy Tue 06-Aug-19 11:46:05

It was worse Grannieq ?

After keeping me waiting an hour during which time I got up to leave half a dozen times , they took out one tooth but couldn’t get the other out .

So I’m left with a gap , a lisp and another extraction apt looming over me in the middle of the week
I have the little boys !!

I could cry ! I hate dentists !!

I’m going home , I’m going to bed and I’m not getting up till my next apt on Thurs week !!!

And to add insult to injury I spent an hour watching their information video and cringing every time their grammar was off lol !! ????
