Hearty thank yous for all your birthday messages. You are very kind.

The sun is shinining brightly. I need to prepare myself for the return of MacSporran who lost part of his top front tooth earlier today, and is, at the moment, having nasty growth-like things zapped off his scalp.

We'll be going to the best coffee shop in Kintyre for the best home-baked cake on the menu. It will most certainly not be calorie-free. Then, this evening, we'll be going out for a meal with a pals who live in the village. Just the kind of birthday treat that we both appreciate.

By the by, received letter from private hospital in Cornwall - they have no record on file of my surgery in 2003 for pelvic floor repair. My GP phoned to say - next step - she's to try to arrange for me to have a specific scan, to be carried out in Edinburgh, that will show mesh, if it is present. All I want is the truth. If mesh isn't causing the ongoing problems, then something else is amiss. I remain hopeful.

Away to make myself look presentable. Back again this afternoon. TOYA x

Have a lovely birthday soop. MacSporran did what I did two weeks ago but my tooth is luckily not in full view. I have had a white filling covering the old but I was told I will have to have a crown if the tooth becomes a problem.

N&G I am so sorry but I am keeping my dentist also. He is a fabulous dentist and puts up with my phobia. He is very young, about 17 I think!

Seriously folks with dental phobia, a decent CBT (and other types if trained properly) therapist could teach you strategies that will reduce the anxiety to less overwhelming proportions. Never too mature for it and yes it does work as long as disbelief is suspended.

You lot really are lovely. Thank you for your good wishes. I am having a lovely lazy day. Super cake! With cream! A botanics Kintyre gin with elderflower tonic. Sat in the sunshine. Opened cards and gifts. MacSporran gave me a very pretty shirt blouse. Photo to follow. He also gave me enormous sunflowers and the special Gin, which is very refreshing and a little fragrant.

Had a letter from Cornwall hospital yesterday. Records not available after six years. How convenient. GP rang for update. I shared content of the letter. She is hoping to arrange an appointment in Edinburgh for a special scan that will determine once and for all if mesh is present in the pelvic area.

My birthday wishes are somewhat belated, soop, but I’m glad you are having a lovely day. The blouse is very pretty, too!
However did they manage to “lose” your medical notes, one wonders. That would have been at a time before electronic notes were kept I am guessing? I thought all physical notes were microfiched and stored away but I suppose there’s not much you can do if they say they can’t find them. I wish you luck with the scan that hopefully you will have done in Edinburgh.

The shortest period of time that medical records may be kept in England is for 6 years. How very, very convenient.

In the NHS as Bellanonna says, notes are microfiched and this has happened for many years. It is different in private hospitals.

soop I tried to find the date of an operation I had privately in 2004 and the hospital told me they had not record of it as they do not keep records longer than 10 years.
Fortunately my GP had all my records.
Six years seems a very short time.

No hold ups but crossing London took for ever.

Just heard 1000 people stranded at Euston due to signal failure.
Thank goodness my train was earlier.

soop I am not sure about private patients but I also discovered (apart from GP patients) that ideally notes should be destroyed after 30 years but they were jumping the gun.
Luckily you have a helpful GP.

Well, my darlings, I have just finished blethering with my son on the phone. It's hot and sunny and I need a shower.

Happy Birthday Soop, have a 'sooper trouper day' ???

Don't know if this pink flower is the same as the one you were enquiringly about, 10 days ago now I think GrannyGravy13?? Ours has only just flowered.
Our pear tree has about 40 pears this year, though I don't know how it will fare over the next couple of days with the dire weather forecast.
Today has been warm and intermittently sunny. We had a walk on the prom earlier and a lot of children were jumping from the pier into the sea. The RNLI and Coastwatch were keeping a close eye on them.
Some of our RNLI team were sent to Whaley Bridge last week, fortunately they weren't needed. Glad to hear that the residents have been allowed home now I think.

Am I just in time to wish our favourite "hostest with the mostest" a very happy birthday........especially filled with all manner of attention from dear MacS and what seems like a whole lotta of creamy cakes!!!

Here`s hoping that you get some better news of these supposedly "lost" or "mislaid" notes from the Surgeon of long ago.............seems a little "Too Convenient" for my liking.
As far as I know the period these notes are held is 10 years.

Now I know you ladies are partial to some burly firemen,so what I am about to say will make you green with envy!!!!
In our new abode we have Fire drill weekly, whilst the other evening around 10pm the alarms went off...........loudly and incessantly.
The natural thing is to rush to the windows to check for any signs of flames or smoke, and of course the arrival of the fire Engine.
However I was in bed asleep..........early nights are a must as my contribution to resting this sore leg of mine.
There was a knock on the door and yes a very burly firefighter stood there and asked my dear man if we were all fine,whom immediately said yes but come and check.............which he promptly did ..........visiting me there in my bedroom if you please!!!!!
Life does not get any better than this!!!

An uplifting few viewings.......4 or 5 in fact have been booked in for the next 2 weeks, so once again we are simply holding our breath.......and hoping.
Of course this weekend the heavens are due to open and we are in for a gale...........but we shall carry on hoping.Our luck must change yet again.

As yet we have still not had enough rain to wet the bottom of a teacup!

I'm a bit late but Many Happy Returns Soop, hope you have a lovely evening. August 8th is a very special day, my youngest daughter is 40 today and her daughter, my beautiful eldest granddaughter will be 11 tomorrow. There is to be a joint party on Saturday although the weather is not supposed to be very good, gales I think.
N&G sorry to hear about your trials at the dentist. I used to be petrified but after finding a very sympathetic dentist some years ago I am reasonably ok now.
We have had a lovely sunny day here. I went for a walk along the seashore earlier and the local nature reserve, it was so peaceful.

Glad you are safely ensconced at your DD’s Ann - a cup of tea in the garden sounds delightful.

We ended up at Wentworth Castle again today, doing the walk around the park to try and photograph some deer, as we missed doing it on our last visit. We were up close and personal with a whole herd of them and very accommodating they were too, even the big royal stag with his twelve point antlers, shepherding his ladies around. We also looked in on the Victorian garden which was not planted up last time we visited but is an absolute delight now.

We are in for some fierce weather over the next two days, so will not be going very far, but concerned for DD and her menfolk when they fly back to Birmingham on Saturday and then drive home. Everything will be crossed!
