Before moving to this house I also had booked well in advance but the same happened to me and in the end, I had to share the van that the people moving out of this house was using. I found it all so stressful when in reality it should not have been. It was a well known company I had originally agreed to use- never again- I will be going out of here in a box.

Poor Hattie, those doleful eyes. If she would like a holiday and be cared for properly she can always come here and have her own bedroom. She will lick a bandage off but you have to start somewhere or it will become infected.

I think they rely on moving dates being altered so often at the last minute ,they do not want to be out of jobs.

It happened to a lady on the moving thread too. The irony is that he was wittering about a long move to West Wales. We know!! They are our good friends who followed here from Wolverhampton and are leaving at the same time. We told them which moving company we had chosen!!!

Morning all,

The peace of the morning has been well and truly scuppered as the F35's from the local base zoom overhead. Luckily , we have an earlyish start as the local Lady of the Manor is holding a charity coffee and cake morning ( and you know us- we go anywhere for cake !!)

Poor old Hattie Maw , hope she feels better soon ! Nothing worse than the threat of the 'cone of shame' ! Would she like a signed photo of Sam now he's going to be famous lol !!

So sorry to hear of your moving trials and tribulations NannyT , I can honestly say our last move was the most stressful of my life . So sending you a big hug and a bottle of something ….staying tiddly might be the only way to get through it !!

Our new hedgehog visitor paid us another visit last night, we are so thrilled( typical townies) that I have persuaded Grampy to make a hedgehog house which will allow us to leave out food safely ( so that Sam can't scoff it ) .

The washing dried beautifully Corner of course I now have a corresponding ironing mountain but that can wait for another day :-) ( or week) .

So sorry to hear about your stress with moving Nannytopsy. I think the removal companies deliberately overbook as this happened to my SiL recently.

Poor Hattie! Does she hate thunder as much as our lurcher Granddog ? She loathe the rain and getting wet too, so we wonder if she kept outside in her previous life.

We have a poorly paw - such thin fur gives very little protection from branches/car boot sills/doorsteps or wherever Hattie managed to take a strip of skin off her front paw. Won’t leave it alone so it’s the bandage tonight . Saw the vet this afternoon for booster jabs etc and she said it was not infected, but I am keeping it covered overnight (or trying to!)
Hoping it doesn’t involve the Cone of Shame ??

We are having TV troubles, can only watch at the moment via Firestick, so glad we bought it. An aerial man is coming on Thursday morning, I think that`s where the trouble lies.
I knocked the lifeline thing off the unit earlier, luckily it didn`t go off, My granddaughter has just picked it up for me, I couldn`t reach it.

Today was a nightmare! I have chivvied and nagged and finally got a completion date for our move next Wednesday. Phoned the removers to confirm and they deny having our booking. They can’t do anything for a month!! Lots of swearing at Chateau Topsy. Changed removers but can’t move until 4th. We go on holiday on the 6th. Really NOT impressed. And they can go and jump for all their cardboard boxes!! ?

Evening All. Goodness you lot have been busy. Me? Acupuncture, a really enjoyable and long lunch in our favourite restaurant overlooking the beach followed by a walk. Its a hard life

Once I stopped to think the hospital visiting is easily sorted and we need to change nothing at all. We will stay in our original location and simply drive 20 minutes to our god daughter (friend's daughter) who will take us to the city centre hospital. So little extra driving for us, no worry about a new location or city traffic. Result I call that . She's pleased to have the company for the journey. A while to go yet, lets hope they don't move our friend even further away.

Well done greyd, you're an energetic bunch. Looking forward to those biscuits tomorrow. We also think our grandchildren come here to sleep, suspect its because us grandparents don't pressurise the younger ones so they can relax and just 'be'.

annodomini, yes I ended up in A & E when 2 of our boys had typhoid aged 3 31/4 and 9, blue lighted from McDonalds of all places, youngest started uncontrollably vomiting, whilst I was in the loo with him the other passed out on the floor...........but they say the 3 month travelling compensated.

GrannyGravy, those jabs take different people in different ways. When we were sent to have typhoid jabs for a school trip to France in 1956, several of us had bad reactions, but in 1965, when I needed one for Kenya, it had no effect at all. A cholera jab that felled my dad didn't disturb me one bit. I'm sure you will soon recover and enjoy your trip to Kenya. It's a good time of year to go there - more exciting than Brighton, and warmer.

grey, what fun. I love Hardwick Hall, and its amazing history. Their 'summer of sport' sounds like an enterprising money-spinner for the National Trust. Glad the lads enjoyed it.

dragonfly My "knocker" is state of the art. All squidgy with a nipple thingy. It has it's own smart storage box. All pretty and posh. Some days, if I'm not expecting visitors, I enjoy wearing my sleep bra. The one intact breast sort of nestles in it. The other cup is empty. Tomorrow is ironing duty day. Best bra (superb uplift) plus squidgy and you would not know the difference. Knitted knockers might be a bit itchy, do you think?

I've been bitten all over my face and arms by midges. The garden looks slightly tidier. If I could have one wish granted...I would wish for a professional gardener. That's not going to happen.

Delighted to hear your positive news Dragonfly It does seem to have been rather a long haul,waiting can very much get you down,however your turn has now been booked in and the procedures are just around the corner.
Please know I shall be sincerely thinking of you,praying for the best of outcomes.Those of us that have been there can vouch for it not being that bad,this waiting game has been exceptionally challenging and yet you have coped like a trouper.

Well so much for “I won’t be having a go!” Every Tuesday through the holidays they have Summer Of Sport at Hardwick Hall, with the North Orchard given over to archery, badminton, tennis, cricket, football, rounders, and all manner of other daft things like sack racing, egg and spoon and such like. There was a tennis coach there but as you can see from the photo, some of the equipment was “challenging”? (there were proper sized rackets too for those who actually wanted to take it seriously!). The football was overseen by a coach from Chesterfield FC. GS was in his element and had a go at everything, but especially the football. Lots of folks there and it was all great fun, but now he has gone home and we are comatose with fatigue! A quieter day tomorrow, making biscuits and washing the car! Should keep him out of mischief!

dragonfly Thank you for updating us. You have been very patient. Not too long to wait for the surgery that will save your life.
My daily dose of Letrozole doesn't adversly affect me since I took that wee break from it. The bone strengthening infusion will be in early October. Today I am not wearing my false, squidgy titty. Just feel like a change. I never give the loss of the breast a thought. So grateful that we are truly well looked after. I think of you often.

Grannygravy Some gentlemen suffer on the quiet. Some not. You do keep in touch. You have little time to yourself. The holiday will help to recharge your batteries.
