Just been reading that the wet weather in Mobberley, Cheshire yesterday tea time was actually a hurricane gillybob! Trees uprooted, roofs blown off sheds.
This was in the news:
A miniature tornado ripped through the Manchester area on Friday afternoon 4pm
Strong winds uprooted trees, smashed cars and tore roofs off buildings
Areas hit include Tatton Park Flower Show, Mobberley and Stamford Park in Hale.
You have been so unlucky to come over the Pennines for this.
Sorry you feel a bit down today about not being on that flight with your cousin.
Good morning everyone - is it still morning?
Not sure what we are doing today as DD and SiL with dog are visiting. May take the dog to the woods as the sun is shining and it is very warm in Leicestershire.
So sorry to hear about your holiday Gilly how mean of your cousin to go without you. Maybe you should just bite the bullet and book a week away somewhere - not Cheshire where it seems to rain all the time!!
Late to join you this morning as I couldn't find you all! Been away in Paris for my DD's 50th today. Quite a quiet day by comparison, but family dinner booked this evening.
Enjoy the day despite the rain.
Good morning all. don't know what this weather will do today in Bristol. Wont be going out as feeling really under the weather today cant put my finger on one thing, just feel awful.
Jeez EllanVannin I’m used to sh*tty weather ( living in the North East as I do ) but I can’t remember seeing so much continuous rain fall in July ! It’s Impossible to be outside. Typical of my luck though .
I’m feeling a bit sick as a chip as last year my cousin and I chatted about the 4 of us having a holiday abroad together this year . It was always a pipe dream for me but they went ahead and booked and flew out yesterday. Feeling a bit sorry for myself today and wishing I was home where I could at least be doing something constructive .
Good morning from a (now) dry Godalming. Patches of blue and some sun showing through grey/white clouds. It simply hammered down last evening/night through the early hours but 19° now supposedly rising to 22°.
I'm off to M&S for food and flowers and one of the Cornish Pasty Co's cheese n onion gob-stoppers which I will eat at home - so delicious. ?
Better get my skates on as I don't want leftovers. We're lucky in that Marks and the pasty shop are only 30 or so steps from the bus station so I won't get wet if it rains.
I've been to Tatton many many times in my younger years gillybob and it was wonderful then. I hope it was just as enjoyable for you although the weather does play a big part.
Here's hoping everyone has a good weekend and plenty of relaxation after a busy week.
Good Morning All x
Cold, blowy and wet here in Wirral-----as usual !
Missed you all yesterday as I'd got up, showered, breakfasted and hurtled out first thing in the lashing rain to Asda as there were a few household things that I needed.
By the time I got back, put everything away, had a bit of lunch I was all-in and it was afternoon before I'd gathered myself together.
Will be going to see GGD later as she turns 11 and will be showing off her new bike which my D has bought her. I doubt she'll be riding it yet until the wind and rain gives off.
Gillybob, the weather you experienced is normal for us in the NW, no wonder folk are miserable here when we have beaches and proms which we can't visit because of the damned weather, BBQ's few and far between too.
Hope Mick's weather is decent while he's on his break.
Have a good day everyone.
Morning and thanks to Beechnut;Annie and all.
It has been raining here also. I am another who had a disturbed night, just could drop off to sleep. So looks like we are a sleepy bunch this morning.
Usual coffee with friends a bit later, then shopping to do.
Hoping you all enjoy your weekend.
It looks like another miserable day (weather wise) here in Cheshire . I can honestly say I’ve never seen rain like yesterday ( made worse by the fact that it was warm and dry at home ). Heading home tomorrow morning . Enjoyed my day at the flower show on Thursday but nothing much else you can do in such heavy rain .
Have a good Saturday everyone x
Morning all from a grey and windy South Notts.
Out soon for the newspaper with a giant crossword and TV guide. All the rain over the last 24 hours may mean that the lawn can't be mowed but no watering required either. I love my little garden but not so keen on mowing.
Hope all is well with everyone.
Good morning all, Thankmyou Beechnut.
Still have thunder here in SE Essex it is very grey, just waiting for the rain to recommence ☔️☔️⛈⛈⛈
Sar53, our Daughter has moved into her Brothers house, round the corner from you, as he and DIL have escaped to Ibiza for 5 days, 2 dogs and 3 children all scared of thunder and lightning!!!! I am waiting for a phone call???
The rain has just started here again and it is torrential!!!
Have a good weekend all, keep safe.
Morning from Leicester! It poured during the night and what with that, the cat and a phone call ( by mistake!) from DD at 1.30, if feel like a dish rag this morning!
Just a bit of provision shopping and housework today. And quite possibly a nap!
Hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Hope everyone has a good day x
Good Morning to all from a wet Fife. We've had some rain since yesterday evening. We have no plans today will take things easy and just do whatever comes up. This week has been quite exhausting emotionally but will survive. Nice for those who are away for weekend - enjoy. For those like me at home still enjoy, home is a lovely place to be.
Morning all from a grey North Leicestershire. It appears we had rain overnight but I didnt hear the predicted thunder if there was any.
Off hunting for curtains this morning!
Morning all.
Thunderstorms in Kent over night and has just started raining again. Didn't stop one of the fox cubs making an appearance just now., think it was a cub but they all look like small adults now.
A day of pottering for me as the forecast is for more rain.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all , I had a sleepless night , what with the thunder and rain I had a thumping headache , but it in quite good this morning , sun is breaking through and the garden has perked up with rain water instead of my attempts with the watering can !
Nothing planned , might do some more pennants to match the crochet blanket , then I have another 2 blankets to start
Good morning all from a damp Glasgow. Thanks Beechnut for opening up.
I've been up for hours and there is a gingerbread and sultana cake just ready to come out of the oven, in anticipation of the usual, hungry, weekend visitors!
After four days of looking after DGD, (I'm too old for this, but exceptional circumstances), I'm off out for a spot of retail therapy. I deserve it, but certainly don't need it!!!
How long I will last, is another question, I'm pretty tired.
Kate, your cottage sounds lovely and Mick, I hope you are enjoting your trip. Maw, safe journey.
Have a good day, whatever you are doing!
Good morning indeed. I have just put the heating on .
Rain forecast and the house feels cold.
It's very blowy out here.
Good Morning from a very damp Black Country. Thanks for opening the thread Beechnut
Off in a couple of hours to Upton on Severn for the Blues Festival. Think we will be dodging showers today! Booked into Travelodge tonight, and Sunday looks like a better day weather wise. Meeting up with some friends there today.
Lyminton is lovely NanKate , not been for about 8 years, must make an effort to return to that area.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Hope everyone has a pleasant and peaceful day.
Good Morning from our S Welsh coast. A damp start after heavy rain yesterday and last night, due to clear later - I hope so as it is the town's Summer Carnival this afternoon.
I will go into town shortly to do a little shopping before the crowds descend. A coffee shop has been renovated under new ownership so may try it out, any excuse!
Have a good day.
Good morning all.
I am very glad it has stopped raining as I am off to Norfolk for the weekend to meet up with DD, SIL DGS, SIL’s, parents and their French friend who is visiting them in London, and I was not looking forward to a 2 1/2 hour drive in a thunderstorm!
Wishing you all a pleasant day.
Good morning from an overcast NE.
Need to prepare GD's bedroom because she arrives tomorrow for the first of holiday sleepovers. Shopping to stock fridge too before family descend tomorrow.
We didn't get the predicted thunder yesterday.
