Bad teacher's

I found some teachers really liked me, and some just didn’t, I don’t know why. I suppose something about me rubbed them up the wrong way. Teachers are no different to anyone else in that they prefer some pupils to others.

When I went to grammar school I had the same teacher as form teacher and for two subjects. She took an instant dislike to me and picked on me constantly.
After three years of this my best friend developed a passionate crush on her, adding insult to my injury!

I'm afraid my phone does autocorrect plural endings so apologies to those offended by my misplaced punctuation.
I'm also recovering from quite a serious medical condition so struggle to check properly at times.

Iam64 - thank you for your kindness. I know of many other people who experienced issues going through school and you're right, we can't let it upset us in adult life.
Generally I don't think about this particular teacher, I reached the conclusion a long time ago that they obviously had a problem of some nature, it was just brought to mind by the other thread.

I do think nit-picking about punctuation is out of order, especially when the OP is writing about past experiences that upset her.

In fact I find nit-picking about punctuation, spelling, grammar or proof-reading is generally out of order.

Dee1012, in my working life, part of my role involved training adults who were working with children. Without exception, attendees would begin to talk about negative school experiences, that left them feeling vulnerable and hurt as children. That's your experience and you share it with many people. Please don't let the snipey comments here make you feel worse than you did when you posted.

Well, I was too busy reading the original post to notice what apostrophes were put where.

May I point out that this is a website for slightly older women, and we do have 'blips' brainwise now and again.

Yes indeed Bridgeit. The comments here that focus on misplaced apostrophes rather than the content of the post say a lot about the people who posted them.

It is a shame that Some who( whom ) have been/ were taught excellent Grammar at school,were not taught good manners , kindness & consideration OR/NOR the ability to imagine themselves in someone else’s shoes, ( if you are one of those who needs to have this explained to you ,then YOU ARE someone who has never been taught anything of true value!

I remember one teacher in primary school when we were doing needlework. I had made a mistake, so she hauled me to the front of the class to berate me in front of all my class mates.

Consequently, I have always hated sewing!

Normally of course it is not the done thing to point out grammatical mistakes in posts but the irony here can’t be ignored!

Dee1012, so many adults sad or difficult memories involve school experiences. I suspect that when we were at school there were more teachers like the one who left you with sad memories. We may not forget but we can certainly not allow those criticisms to made us upset in adult life,

I have mostly good memories of my teachers. Except for one, when in Infants school. I must have been cheeky and she got hold of me by the shoulders and shook me. As she did this my hands must have touched her so she accused me of smacking her!
In those wartime days many of the teachers were unmarried older women who were embittered, disappointed in life.
