Well this morning i got up put my tights on and they felt a bit loose so in my wisdom decided to put a pair of pants over them
Fast forward to sainsburys I'm stood looking at a shelf and try and turn round to get back to my trolley , and i fell over , a bit flustered i stood up and looked down to see what i had fallen over , to my horror the extra pair of knickers had made an impromptu appearance round my ankles , luckily the assistant was lovely
But i have never felt more mortified when i had to reach down take them off and stick them in my handbag
I left very quickly after
Am i the only one these things happen to ?

I have suffered the total embarrassment of having my clothes stolen from a locker at a swimming pool, and having to go home wearing a large towel, cardigan and flip flops borrowed from the lost property at the pool. I was about fourteen so the mortification was huge; the police called later as I was evidently not the only one to have my locker emptied, and later an article in the paper informed all that the culprit was - the attendant, who kindly helped me with lost property!

I refused to buy a pair of shoes and decided that I was setting a new trend
Trend-setter! Just tell them you have a matching pair at home. hmm

I did the knickers over some tights thing. I was out with dh and we were walking back to the car and I felt everything going southward. I walked on with knees clenched together - luckily I had a long skirt on but had to stop in a doorway and call dh back. Hes always ahead as he walks much faster and obviously I was slower than usual. He had to shield me while I tried to stick my hand down via the waist band and hoist them up. It didn't help much!!

Sassenach512. Thanks to Spike God bless him. That’s my definition of a day well spent - making someone laugh.

Hi to the lady who enquired why i was wearing tights in the summer, after my ill favoured supermarket trip i was on my way to visit a very proper old lady who is always impeccably dressed and always makes me feel like a refugee from oxfam, i didn't tell her about my adventure

I was a barmaid for many years, and one day I was wiping the tables down and as I passed a group of lads one of them pointed to the ground and said ".,it was a l think youve dropped ssomething " it was the silicone fillet thing from my bra!I was mortified lol

Relish in the idea that you have lost weight and treat yourself with some new underwear - sexy and the right size.

Purplepoppies Wed 17-Jul-19 13:06:46

I bought a pair of sexy knickers that had suspenders attached. I put them on before a night out. I got to the end of the road heading to the bus stop when I felt the whole lot sliding down.....
I turned around and rushed home before anything too embarrassing happened thankfully

A good friend of my mother's was wearing a pair of French knickers one day in 1944 when elastic was unobtainable. Her knickers were sewn with a waistband and a button and buttonhole. Due to rationing, the summer dress she had one was extremely short.

She was crossing a busy city square when the button on her waistband gave up the ghost and popped off.

You get the picture? Young girl in very short skirt with her French knickers round her feet.

Asked what she had done, she replied, "I kicked them off and walked on!"

Scottiebear Wed 17-Jul-19 12:43:08

Who remembers their mum mending knickers elastic?

vanessahumphries Wed 17-Jul-19 12:38:55

I was on a coach holiday and got up late for a trip so shoved some shoes on. It was only when we stopped that I noticed I was wearing one white shoe and on black! My friend was mortified but I refused to buy a pair of shoes and decided that I was setting a new trend

Another 'moment' saw me cycling to work with a bra flowing out behind me. My bike was kept in the hall. And clothes that needed washing were flung over the banister on the landing and picked up and taken to the Laundry Room as we descended to the lower floor. Sadly, I missed the black lacy bra and it was attached to my pannier bag, flowing in the wind. Never noticed it until I arrived at work and was parking up o-0

When I worked in London I was on the up escalator when a lady in front of me suddenly stepped forward only to leave her knickers on the step. She carried on as if nothing had happened. Shortly after that the escalator was ‘out of order’ - no doubt the knickers had got stuck in the mechanism.

Happens to the young members of the family as well. My dd took a pair of jeans straight from the TD to put on. Later that day a pair of tight appeared down one leg.

Margs Wed 17-Jul-19 11:51:30

Oh, you poor thing! That is a classic embarrassment-horror episode.

We've all been there, if that's any comfort.

At the end of the 60s my husband and I were headed to the Far East for a job in Japan, by way of India. Somewhat nervous we booked a proper hotel for the first night in then Bombay although we intended very different accommodation for the rest of our tour, basically anywhere we could safely lay our heads.
The hotel turned out to be super luxurious with staff dressed all in white with magnificent turbans waiting on us hand and foot. It was hot and I washed my bra and knickers and hung them up in the bathroom to dry. Next morning we packed our rucksacks and prepared to set off to find a more modest place to stay but as we reached the door a resplendent figure came running down the stairs, arm in the air with my bra and knickers dangling from his hand, “Madam, Madam, you have forgotten these”. Red-faced I thanked him and bolted.

Caro57 Wed 17-Jul-19 11:31:33

As a child we had to wear 'navy bags' at school. the waist elastic on mine broke and rather than go comando I let them dangle. End of the day in bus station waiting to go home - gust of wind, gathered dress skirt blew right up - 'luckily' so far it covered my blushes!!

Once when my partner was off to Karate, in the changing room full of men he pushed an arm through the arm of his karate top and out popped a pair of my knickers. All the men roared and I’m still embarrassed to this day even though I wasn’t there.
Also once I was in an office me and a man and I pulled out a pen out of my bag and a tampon shot to the floor.
I picked it up very quickly but we both knew he had seen it .

Charleygirl5 Wed 17-Jul-19 11:24:09

My ex boss did not possess a pair of knickers or a nightdress so of course went everywhere commando.

Frannytoo Wed 17-Jul-19 11:15:27

I hate tights. Many years ago my tights began to slide towards my shoes. I was in a computer shop and once they reached my ankles I had to do something. I had to ask a male computer guru if I could use the loo and explain why.

Wiltshiregrams Wed 17-Jul-19 11:10:29

Minnie - that so made me laugh. My daughter, when about 4, went into the bathroom where her great granddad was brushing his teeth. For whatever reason and like your daughter, she yanked his pyjama bottoms down. He was quite a private gentleman so very shocked but did laugh later. My daughter did get a ‘talking to’ I might add.

Semiruralgirl Wed 17-Jul-19 10:57:58

Having just written to you regarding a friend, and then reading other people’s posts I am reminded that when I was attending a private View at Sotheby’s, the v.smart auctioneers in Bond Street, London a while ago, I was waiting in a queue ready to show our invitations when someone tapped me on the shoulder ( a woman fortunately) and said I had a piece of loo roll hanging out of my knickers, which in turn my skirt was tucked into! I felt really embarrassed but got over it quite quickly and had forgotten the occasion until now.

Semiruralgirl Wed 17-Jul-19 10:51:09

I appreciate your embarrassment. However it reminds me of the occasion a friend of mine was at a university ball, dancing with someone she definitely fancied but didn’t really know very well, when all of a sudden her knickers broke loose and fell down round her ankles. She calmly stepped out of them, picked them up and carried on dancing. I’ve always admired her sheer aplomb. Don’t give it another thought!

inishowen Wed 17-Jul-19 10:37:27

My mum loved to tell the story of when her pants fell down. She was pushing me in my big pram when her pants suddenly fell round her ankles. She went to side of the pram and stepped out of them and quickly put them under my blanket. This was on a busy high street but she convinced herself that no one saw anything.
