I see the thread has meandered slightly, but can any of those posters who commented on the Duchess of Cambridge’s weight/body, please explain to me why, now it is almost a hate crime to ‘fat-shame’ anyone, it’s acceptable to have this sort of thread, drawing attention to the fact that a young woman is slim, and comparing her unfavourably with others because of this?

He was gorgeous! I think I dropped the ball in confusion at least once, but I have tried to forget that bit.

I'm sure I just spotted John Newcombe at Wimbledon just now. My Mum used to always say she'd leave my father for him!

Merlotgran Kate and William have taken George to the garden centre in our village on a Sunday afternoon for a potter around . Michael is a frequent customer at the swimming pool company based there and keenly maintains his pool himself. On one occasion he said that he needed to get a move on with a repair because his grand son was coming for the weekend Just like any granddad , so lovely.

I was a ball girl! It's my only claim to fame. Not at Wimbledon which back then was reserved for Dr Barnado's boys, but our school provided the ballgirls for Queens Club, the Wimbledon warm up, when I was in my element throwing balls to the likes of suntanned Newcombe and Roach, cheeky Chuck McKinley, the brilliant Rod Laver and Roy Emerson with his quirky serve. They were so polite!!

Ball boys and girls in great shape! they reall are role models (unlike the lines people..)

How nice to read that Michael and Carole Middleton took George and Charlotte to a village fete yesterday while Kate was at Wimbledon.

Apparently they had a great time going from stall to stall and chatting to other children and the best bit?

No sneaky photos were taken and sent to the tabloid press - at least none so far. How nice for the children to be able to enjoy normal activities with their doting grandparents.

Take note, Harry and Meghan. The more you insist on all things Archie being kept secret and keep making announcements to that effect, the more security he will need and will never be able to have a few snatches of normal life.

I’m sure they were slimmer in WW2, but women also wore corsets and girdles in those days which hoisted you in a bit.

We've been gasping in horror at some of the line judges as well, Bellasnana. The uniforms don't do them any favours but they're not exactly good ambassadors for a sporting event, even though they are not competitors.

Sorry if that's seen as 'fat shaming' but we have an obesity crisis so good examples should be set.

I normally like Meghan's style but a pleated, patterned skirt with her blouse tucked in and a belt?

It's the kind of thing my MiL would have worn and not a flattering look IMO.

Kate has a lovely figure. The same cannot be said for a large proportion of the linesmen and women officiating at Wimbledon. I wonder who is responsible for the old-fashioned uniforms they are wearing which don’t seem to look flattering on any body type.

She is tiny but I think it is just how she is built! She has a very tiny frame. She looks healthy though. She’s always been slim but running around after 3 kids probably keeps the weight off!

SirChenjin, your observation rings so true. I spent two separate long periods of time on two different days this week in A and E and was absolutely shocked at the obesity there - in both patients and staff. In each of the several waiting rooms I spent time in, the majority of people were obese. Not chubby or well-built, but seriously obese. And for the first time ever, I was seen by a very obese doctor.

The only "food" available was from the two vending machines helpfully sited in the entrance hall where they couldn't be missed. Chocolate, sweets and crisps to eat, and carbonated or flavoured drinks (with a couple of small bottles of plain water in that machine too). All plastic packaged, and dispensed through a flap almost at floor level! Exactly what sick and injured people attending really, really need. Not! I was asked by a woman in a wheelchair if I'd lift out the bottle she'd bought as she couldn't bend to reach it.

Staff as well as patients were using the machines and many continued on outside to smoke. What a way to fuel those doing arduous 12 hour shifts for the National HEALTH Service.

There needs to be a genuinely positive way to help these people and deal with "the elephant in the room". Not by hectoring or fat-shaming. And I know they are cash-strapped but the NHS should be deeply ashamed at making profits from peddling junk to sick people and overworked staff.

Some people just are naturally slim, but there are so many porkers around nowadays, it's come to seem almost unnatural - 'Oh, she must be anorexic, or at least starving herself....'

As someone who (once!) had a very small appetite and was naturally very slim, and had a fatter, permanently-dieting so-called friend spreading a rumour that I must be anorexic, I really feel for anyone suffering this constant barrage of comment about their weight, or lack,of it.

Who’d want to be in the public eye eh? Not me for sure! My shape (or lack of!) being commented on, the lengths of my skirts, my posture etc. Awful. Not for all the tea in China!

She looks a very healthy young lady to me. Her skin is glowing and her hair is shiny. She looks a very happy young mother and has three lovely children.

I wouldn’t worry they ve got specialists and doctors for everything She looks happy and well it must be awful to be commented on all the time too fat, too thin, too bald, too ginger, too clingy just leave them to get on with their business
