Summer?

I’m further North and very close to the sea Septimia . It kept going black dark then thundering, then torrential rain . On and off all day . Quite warm now though . Heavy flooding in some parts too . More of the same forecast for tomorrow too.

Gillybob - we seem to have missed the torrential rain so far in our corner of Co. Durham, although the weather was less good this morning. Did it pass north or south of us, I wonder? We've had glorious sun all afternoon.

Ah, MiniMoon, summer seems to have arrived in northwest Durham today. I wonder if it will still be here tomorrow...... But if it is, I might have to do some gardening.

It's been wet and warm here in Cheshire where we're not very far north but not quite in the Midlands. We've just had a heavy downpour and a short thunderstorm.

Lovely here in North Essex today, yesterday was hot and sticky but today is not do humid.

It's been lovely in Yorkshire today. I'm on the bus waiting to leave the show ground. I've walked around in my loose summer top!! I've not been able to wear it at home, and it hasn't rained ?.

I don't like temps much above 24c so often yen for God's country that is Northumberland, but I can't get my other half to move their (I've been trying for 35years.)

I am always so envious of London temperatures in the summer, compared to NE Scotland. We are often one of the coolest places in Europe, apart from the Northern Isles.

It's been lovely here and I'll send you some warmth minimoon, if you send us some rain to water the garden, especially the pots (rain just overnight though, please).
It was cloudy today but still in the low 20s.

I hope the 'African plume' brings you summer.

Well, the day improved as it went on. I walked down to Knit & Natter in pleasant warmth, but I took my raincoat as there were big black clouds on the horizon. I walked back home in beautiful sunshine. It's cheered me up no end.
tedber, I'm not looking to move, DH and I love Northumberland and all our family are fairly close by.
It's just started raining, I can hear it on my velux windows.
Great Yorkshire Show tomorrow, hope it's a good day.

Overthehills I do love County Down. We actually live in in Co. Antrim and my husband won't move so this is a compromise. There's so much in Co Down. So scenic. And great shops. I must say I have enjoyed travelling round Scotland too. I hope you manage to visit sometimes.

We moved there about the same time with Dad’s job with an oil company. I must admit I loved (still love) the hot weather, I’ve never quite got to like the cool Scottish summers and harsh winters (in comparison to Kent)

I'm from Kent, too. I can't say that I thought the weather was too bad when I first moved here in 1979, in fact it was a relief after the scorching summers of 75/76 down south! Also, I grew up on the N Kent coast which can be extremely cold in winter, brr.

Where we live now is usually a sun trap, as we're inland and in a valley but it's been so changeable this year, from hour to hour almost. I keep a fleece at the ready!

I lived in the NE of Scotland too for many years after we moved up from Kent - my first winter there was a shock to the system! We were on Deeside, a lovely part of the country

Awww SueDonim I used to live in NE Scotland for many years. Never really noticed the 'bad' weather t.b.h. but when friends from England came they told me how cold they felt! (Was in Keith) I guess the scenery outweighed the cold for me then eh?

My daughter now lives on the east coast of England (Newcastle) and I notice how COLD it is there!!! She absolutely adores it though and would never move not even for the weather.

So Minimoon ...are you wanting to move? Because maybe there is more to the place you live than the weather?

But...really can't understand why Britain is such a small island in the grand scale of things and yet has so much diversity with its weather?

Mad weather today here in NE Scotland. It was damp but warm first thing, followed by brilliant sunshine and it was 24deg when I went out at about 2pm. Came home about 5pm, bucketing rain, temps down to 16deg. Then the sun came out again - very nice - and now it's thick mist and raining again!

I bought a new summer dress for an event yesterday but ended up in trousers and a jumper, it was so cold

Too warm here today for me, we need a lovely fresh breeze and some rain overnight to clear it.

Glorious at Trentham Gardens, Stoke on Trent today. Cloudy sunshine, around the low twenties I'd say. Plenty warm enough for me.

I hope it will be around soon, and will stay until late September, as husband and I are going to Kielder Forest for a week in a beautiful cottage right on the lake side. We also have an evening booked at the Kielder Observatory for his 60th birthday, and the last time we went, two years ago, it was the PERFECT night, so we are hoping for a repeat this year.

So I will keep everything crossed that you get your summer really soon - and that you hang onto it for a few months

Lovely weather now in NE61 (Northumberland), warm and sunny, 23 degrees. I’m sitting in the shade enjoying a cool drink but keeping an eye on a few dark clouds.

It’s very muggy here in South Yorkshire. We keep getting bursts of sun, then ominous clouds but so far no rain (apart from a very brief spot or two when I posted on good morning earlier) - that’s forecast for tomorrow along with thunder.

MiniMoon, we moved from the Midlands to the South Coast a couple of years ago and every night as we look at the weather forecast we remind ourselves how cold we used to be. There is a downside though, we get precious little rain and keeping the garden looking good is difficult. Small price to pay !

25° (Met office) or 24° (Accu weather) whatever...a light and welcome occasional breeze on a very warm, overcast day.
At least it's not 'muggy'.
