They can still do it!

I saw the Stones in Barcelona about 2 years ago on their current tour. Mick was amazing, Keith was awful to the point of embarrassment.
The first time I saw them (over half a century ago) they weren't even top of the bill! They finished the first half of a Little Richard concert.

Deviating slightly here BUT has anyone ever seen (or even heard of) the saxophonist KENNY G? Played on the Celine Dion recording of My Heart Will Go On (Titanic).
He’s ill regarded by many jazz musicians but nevertheless he is one of the best selling instrumentalists of modern times.
I love his music and find it very relaxing. Unfortunately the same doesn’t go for his stage persona, he can be very smutty (I’ve seen him live both in London and the U.S) which put me off a bit but still can’t deny he’s a great musician.

Saw The Eagles couple weeks ago, excellent. Still sound the same and great musicians. Glen Freys son stood in for him, he would have been proud

Saw the Stones at our local park in 1982...they were fantastic. Paul Young Joe Jackson and Dr Feelgood were accompanying acts. The weather was glorious and we could take a picnic. Also saw Genesis there with Phil Collins in the 80’s. Going to see Ed Sheeran there in August and it’s only a 5 minute walk from where I live.
Still go to see Alan Price when in London. He always puts on a good show and his voice is still strong. Also Shakatak..still really good and such a distinctive sound.

Olliebeak Leonard Cohen's concerts were fantastic and so many good songs to choose from. I just got Jennifer Warnes album. Don't like it all but Joan of Arc fantastic. Can hear it on youtube. (apologies for going offthread a bit everyone )

Blondie, Lionel Richie and ELO.....all still got it live!

I'm so pleased to see that there are other Leonard Cohen fans on here. After being a fan for 40+yrs, I only ever saw him perform on one occasion - August 2013 at Manchester MEN Arena - when he did an extra date after his World Tour. I just felt so grateful to be able to see and hear him 'live', and at 79 he STILL HAD IT! When a man of that age can 'drop to his knees' singing, stay down for a while and then stand back up again WITHOUT HAVING TO USE A HAND TO GET UP .............. well, what more can you say ;-)!

Saw Cliff Richard a couple of years ago, at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, and again, he's still got it :-D.

A few years ago, I went to one of the Solid Silver 70s shows at Liverpool Echo Arena to see Les McKeown's Bay City Rollers (brilliant), Osmonds with Jimmy but no Donny (fabulous), Leo Sayer (pathetic and thought it was 'all about him') and David Essex (woo woo!!!!!).

About 15yrs ago, went to see Yardbirds, Spencer Davis Band and The Troggs (at Liverpool Empire) - absolutely ROLLICKING performances from all of them .................... Reg Presley was an amazingly good 'entertainer' with lots of banter and hilarious tales to tell.

I love The Who and saw them live eventually about 10 years ago and they were amazing. I had tickets to see them at Celtic Park in 76, when the late great Keith Moon was still alive, but I was only 15 and my Mum refused to let me go! It was 100s of miles away and I was to travel in the back of a van with 3 male friends. No idea why she didn't think it was a good idea! I was reading an article about the recent Who Wembley concerts and at the end of one gig Roger apparently said - “Our glamour is gone, our youth is gone, but the music still sounds fucking brilliant.” Sums it all up excellently I thought!

Last year my daughter, who is in her mid 50's went to see Adam Ant, she said it was fantastic.

Rod Stewart last year he was amazing he's still got it

Love Rod Stewart, but i have never seen him live,if he came to where i am , i would go to see him,
Neil Diamond will be doing a show in the next town to me this summer, might go to see him,
Cliff Richard will be in my town this summer, but i wouldn;'t pay to see him, went off him after seeing a documentary on TV ,and he was very scathing about ,homeless and jobless people ,saying they didn't need to be, if they didn't want to
I did see him when i was a teenager when he first became popular, also saw Billy Fury, Marty Wilde, Jess Conrad, at my local theatre in Halifax ,where i lived at the time,
Also saw Freddie and the Dreamers at a nightclub here in the 80s

I went to my first concert last night at the Roundhouse in London. Van Morrison was magical. What a performer; who still manages to give to concert goers nothing but his best. I could only get a ticket for standing only. I had dead legs and feet by the end of the evening. Thank goodness for Volterol!

I saw Tom Jones a couple of years ago in a park in Bedford, we were very close to the stage and he was fabulous. He’s still ‘got it’. Also Tammy Wynette at the NEC about a year before she died. They had to carry her onto the stage and plonk her on a stool. She was terrible !!

Saw Tom Jones a couple of years ago -his voice is still so strong -wasn't a lot of chat from him but a great show. Wasn't particularly a fan when he was younger-never a fan of the knicker throwing but love him now. Saw Neil Diamond and he was Amazing!! His voice is still great-there was a back video of him growing up which was so moving, Rod Stewart was so good-takes the mickey out of himself.

I am very envious as I love The Who and would have really enjoyed it. A few years ago we saw The Strawbs live, and a brilliant night was had by all attendees in a small (300 ish) but packed venue.

I 've seen Sir Elton 3 times and going to see him again next year. He is brilliant live. Doesn't chat much but his music speaks volumes. Saw The Christians a couple of years ago lead so get charged a lot cos his singing voice had gone! I took my daughter to see the fabulous Nina Simone, Nina chatted a lot and sang a lot brilliant.

Best live performances for me were
Neil Diamond -seen twice 35 and 20 years ago.Outstanding then.Not sure his voice would be as good now so would prefer my memories.
Bryan Adams.Wasn't a particular fan and got given a ticket last minute but he was fantastic.
And ELO.So good I got tickets 2 weeks later and took my DD.

We saw Status Quo a few years ago & they were fab, really good fun and we enjoyed Sir Rod a year or two later. My favourite is Van Morrison, I've been seeing him for more than 40 years and I just love his music

Glad you had such a great time. I've been to see The Police, Kiss, Scorpions, Rush and Blondie in the last decade or so. They were all excellent but by far Blondie was the best. Absolutely incredible. She must have been well into her 60s. It was about 7 or 8 years ago now. Excellent

I saw The Who some years ago at Hyde Park. Then over the past few years have seen Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen. Also the late great David Bowie (my all time favourite ) as well as Prince. Just a few weeks ago saw Rod Stewart at our football stadium and on Sunday saw the legend Stevie Wonder at Hyde Park. He ended with the sad news that he is taking a break to have a kidney transplant, but his performance was fantastic.

I remember seeing the Who at Hammersmith when I was pregnant with my older son. It was great but so loud I panicked and piled everyone’s coats on to my bump! The son is now a professional musician so it obviously had an effect.

Saw The Who during the seventies when Keith Moon was still alive, Brilliant.
Also during the 70's David Cassidy, drop dead gorgeous then.
Rod Stewart a few years ago, also excellent for his age, a young 60 then.
Bryan Adams, a couple of years ago, good but venue didn't capture the atmosphere..

I've been to lots of concerts and festivals over the years but the artist who still looked and sounded the same as she did in the 60s was Buffy St Marie who I saw at a small venue about five years ago.
I was persuaded to go by a friend and really glad I did, she was fantastic.
