They can still do it!

Saw the Who at the 02 three years ago.

The only thing marring the experience was the fact that they we were up so high, we could hardly see them.
It felt very precarious.
We could certainly hear then though and did end up enjoying the music.

First saw Rod Stewart in his Maggie May days. Have seen him a couple of times since and hes still got it. Saw Led Zepplin, Il Divo and the Who. By far the very very best was Roger Waters(pink Floyd) absolutely brilliant.

Leonard Cohen's last concert in Birmingham was absolutely spellbinding. What a loss.

I saw Paul Mc Cartney at a fabulous concert in Brooklyn, two years ago. Whilst his voice was not that of a twenty year old, he kept an audience of 20,000+ on their feet and singing for almost 3 hours. An incredible experience.

Eric Clapton, still epic after all these years!! Also seen Steve Harley twice in recent years, he's still amazing.

Will be seeing Sir Tom Jones on the 14th July, an open air concert in our county town's beautiful park. Really looking forward to it as he still has the most amazing voice. It's a relatively small venue so no problems with seeing him on stage
Two years ago at the same venue we watched Status Quo give one heck of a performance. Rick Parfitt was sadly unable to perform but his son filled his place brilliantly on the night.

AllTheLs I've seen the Monkees 3 times and although Davy Jones was my favourite, Micky Dolenz had the most incredibly clear sweet voice!

I've also seen Rod Stewart a few times too and I have a recording of me screeching singing along on my phone. I didn't realise that the microphone was on my side. I just blamed the friend I was with!

The first time I saw Rod, he slipped and cut his leg, which was tended to, onstage, by a doctor. He sang "The First Cut is the Deepest" and kept pointing to his leg. He carried on regardless but had to cancel the next couple of concerts because of his injury. What a trouper!

Went to see Cream, in a pub, in Norwich, in the sixties. The Orford Arms. They were excellent, but it did cost me half a crown to get in! I believe that the cellar venue is still going strong.
Went to see Status Quo, a few years back, at the Bournemouth BIC. A great performance spoiled by the fact that everything was too loud. I know rock music is meant to be loud, but this was over the top. Francis Rossi's daughter's group were the supporting band and you could not hear a thing that was sung. Shame. Still got me a night out!

Hugely jealous - I would love to see The Who.

And being a huge Pirate Radio Fan I was beside myself with excitement when I finally got to meet 60s legend Emperor Rosko.

Alima we've seen RS live a few times. Wasn't so keen on him years ago but think he is great now. Recently seen Alfie Boe and he has improved now he doesn't try to do everything and no longer has a silly haircut! Il Divo are great too. Our small local theatre has some lovely shows for us oldies, going to see the Manfreds soon and maybe book some of the tribute sing along shows. Theatre is always full.

Mamar we've seen James Taylor several times and his voice is just as good now as it was back in the 70's the first time I saw him.I saw the late John Martyn just months before he died ,I had seen him when he was a young beautiful man with golden curls .The John on the stage bore no resemblance to the young man.He was massively overweight had lost a leg through drink/diabetes and his voice wasn't exactly as good as it was....but he was still magic .It was a very small gig only about 100 people in a hotel and it was fantastic .I am so glad I saw him as he died soon after
My favourite artist to see is Eric Bibb we've seen him 24 times ...and every one is a spiritual experience.If you haven't heard him I'd recommend you do .he's brilliant

I grew up in the same town as Peter Noone. He wasn’t so glamorous at 8am on a wet Monday morning as I was waiting for the train that took me to school.

I saw Ray Davies of the Kinks in concert a few yrs back. Fantastic! Also saw James Taylor ( 'You've got a friend' fame). Melted me away. About four times now I've seen Lionel Ritchie. Last time was at Edinburgh Castle at an evening performance. Just magic!

Seen Elkie Brooks .. amazing. Seen Janis Ian 4 times .. last time she was sharing the stage with Tom Paxton. Just wonderful!

I was given tickets for Elton John in Mannheim a few years ago. I wasn't much of a fan, but he certainly gave a great concert. I also saw him in 1979 in Mannheim.

Also Chris de Burgh - I'm not really keen, but he gave a great performance and connected with the audience. (Also in Mannheim).

We saw Sting and Eric Clapton in Stuttgart - both great concerts, but we only had ticket for the middle where you stood, and that got a bit tedious.

I went with my son to see Gary Moore in quite a small venue (Mannheim again). But he didn't interact with the audience at all, which was rather disappointing. Glad I saw him live at least once, though.

The most disappointing was Kate Bush - again saw her in Mannheim about 1978-9. Everything was choreographed and timed to a millisecond and totally encapsuled on the stage - no chance for her personality to come across or for any audience participation.

I would love to see the Who - I once saw a recording from 1968 on TV and thought that their music does not date, unlike so many others from the 60s.

I'm off to see Sir Tom Jones on Sunday evening- outdoor venue and sun is forecast to be shining! Anyone seen him on this current tour?? If you have. what did you think? I think that he always sounds great when he sings on 'The Voice'...in fact I didn't like him at all when he was younger, but I think he's aged really well and his voice still sounds strong, so fingers crossed for a lovely evening

I went on a Solid Silver Sixties concert in April. Saw a group called Vanity Fare (Hitchin' a Ride), Bryan Poole (Tremeloes) and Dave Berry (and the Crusades). Although these acts were good in that they were professional and knew how to connect to an audience, one person's voice had totally gone. But the star of the show was the final act - Peter Noone (Herman's Hermits). Oh, he was so good. Looked fantastic and sang wonderfully. He stole the show. Last time I saw him was 53 years ago when I was 4 years old (my mum took me to my first ever pop concert).

Always regret never seeing the Monkees perform live, and David Cassidy when he was young and gorgeous.

In my late teens/early twenties & thirties I adored Orchestral Manouvres in the Dark. Later this year I'm going to see them again for the first time in ages - it will be the thirteenth time! They are so good live (well, they used to be - I'm hoping they still are).

Yesterday in Hyde Park, Barbra Streisand proved she still has it ALL.

NanTheWiser, the Who's "roadie" was my cousin in those days too. Latterly he became tour manager to Jimi Hendrix.

We saw Elkie Brooks (still got it), Peter Green (early Fleetwood Mac) who was great, and the Eagles who were fantastic.
I would have loved to have seen Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.

Dh was given two tickets as a birthday present to this Who concert. I'm not enough of a Who fan to want to go so ds2 got lucky and went with dh. They had a great time. I see the Guardian gives it a four star review today!

I took my daughter and her fiancé to see The Who twice in the last 4 or 5 years (at the O2). They were fantastic, Roger still has the ability to sing all the old hits!
Back in the very early 60s, he lived just round the corner to me (not that I knew it then, and before they hit the big time), Pete Townshend went to my junior school, and John Entwistle also lived locally (I actually dated John's cousin, briefly), so they've always been pretty special for me.
