Glastonbury

Just got home from visiting my daughter in North Dorset, Glastonbury is in between us and on the drive home Kylie was on. We had the windows down and singing. We were just about a mile from Worthy Farm and I am sure I could hear, at one point I could see the tents.

I m definitely an aging rock chick, (62) loved the Killers, great performers loved Foo Fighters too when they were on a couple of years ago, have a huge crush on Dave Grohl, watch as much of Glastonbury as I can each year and have recorded it all . Remember age is only a number, growing old is compulsory, growing up is not ???cx

Yes,I saw the killers last night and thought they were brilliant! Also watched stormyz but not to my taste.Enjoyed George Ezra too!

Came to work in London in 1970- so I could go to the Isle of Wight. Yes, Jimi Hendrix, the Who, Stones, but also Leonard Cohen, Joan Baez, Simon G.

So Rock all the way, not 'Pop' and never was a Kylie fan for sure.

And saw Jimi Hendrix at Tooting Granada - those were the days before "celebrity status" set in.

The sound system at Glasto this year is very poor.

Good to see the weather is playing ball this year after so many years of pouring rain. I've always done Download and Leeds but the number of times I've nearly drowned in a sea of mud has finally put me off - my son was at Download this year and many poor campers left before it even started calling it Brownfest. He was lucky enough to be in the better camping but spent the entire time he was there in waterproofs and wellies. In previous years they've also televised some of these festivals but not this year so I've been reduced to looking on You Tube for uploads by those who were there.

I've seen so many great rock & metal bands over the years I've lost count and festivals are amazing but there's nothing like seeing them in a venue with their own concert - the louder the better - my husbands says he can always hear me coming down the street with the noise from my car

Born to be Wild is going to be played as I an carried in at my funeral. I love late 69s early 70s rock. I am an ancient rock/hippy chic. Oh and I would love to go to Glastonbury

Since my DC left home and raised their own broods, I have not been obliged to listen to pop music. DS1 was a Prince fanatic and I could never see the attraction. As far as I know, they didn't go to festivals. I'd avoid Glastonbury like the plague. I don't dislike all popular music, but the amount of noise would leave my ears burning and my head throbbing. Proud to be an old fogey! (As far as music is concerned)

I'd love to go to glastonbury, I'd probably get a rainy year and need wellies up to my armpits mind, I'd also like to go to Cornbury festival .
I thought Janet Jackson was very poor yesterday but Killers and Sheryl Crow put on a good performance.

GabriellaG54, why are you always so dismissive of anything you don't like? Just because it may not be to your particular taste doesn't necessarily make it "unmusical crap"!

D used to follow Prince and even went to Minneapolis to his nightclub and met him. His backing singer even rang my D up one Christmas. Chevy Chase was also at this nightclub.

I have never heard of the killers. However I do have a soft spot for George Ezra! Have watched a bit of it. Never been to a festival though.

Haha...I mean it. I hate loud 'rock music' and most of the stuff nowadays is little more than repetitious un-musical c**p.

No. I used to watch Brandon Flowers in his early days, 'Bette Davis Eyes' 'Magdelena' 'Hard Enough, the last two being acoustic versions which I prefer.
I don't like any others nor would I ever go to a music festival, not even for £10m.
Horrible, messy, noisy.

My son is there for the fifth time. Each year, my husband and I have brought him and three or four friends down to Somerset, where they stay the Tuesday night with us in our holiday accommodation and one of us drops them at the coach pick up point at the crack of dawn on the Wednesday.

We have the week to ourselves before picking them up and taking them home on Monday.

However, it's my husband's 60th in September, and my 60th right around Glastonbury next year, so we are planning on going next year. Fingers crossed we manage to get tickets

Forgot to say that my favourite band from recent times was Future Islands who appeared in 2015.
The lead singer looks like a dishevelled tubby Marlon Brando but I couldn't take my eyes off him, what a mover!

My favourite band of all time is Pink Floyd, I saw them in 1994 at Earls Court. I've also seen Bon Jovi twice, they are brilliant live, Dire Straits, Led Zeppelin, U2, The Rolling Stones, Phil Collins. Sadly most of them are older than I am now !!!
I also like The Killers, Bruce Springsteen, early Coldplay. Not so keen on the music of today especially grime and rap.
I'm so pleased that I'm not the only gran who listens to rock music in the car.

Another Linkin Park fan here; although there aren't many albums to draw on I never tire of them.
