We measure how well the City of London is doing by the amount of “active cranes” and there are an awful lot at the moment. New building and regeneration projects.

Where were you staying in Bristol? The public transport system is awful - expensive and unreliable, unless you are using the couple of metro buses - which have their own lanes for part of their journeys. The rest of the service is laughable.

The constant roadworks are a nightmare - did you try travelling from Temple Meads into Broadmead?

The (so called) 'knowledge quarter', pretentious as it sounds, is the area where science, innovation and learning projects are based. There is also a 'fabric' quarter.

Why does everything now have to be in a "quarter"? It's supposed to sound all buzzy and trendy but it really grates on me. why isn't there a Grumpy Old Woman smiley?

Nothing is being done in our area of Scotland. Funds are going to Edinburgh and Glasgow and the rest of Scotland can go hang, it seems.

I expect if a Labour government were doing these things you mention, Gabriella, then some people on this site may be a bit more impressed but, in general, you won't get them to be positive about anything the 'nasty' Tories do. Sadly, that's very often the socialist mentality.

I'm damn glad I don't live in Liverpool. My brother can't wait to get out and he's in a " decent " area. 2019 isn't the 50's/60's Liverpool.

These ideas have a habit of being pie in the sky. Look what happened to Carillion and the building of the new Liverpool hospital-----millions spent, for what ? An empty shell of a building left half finished and no more funds left to finish the job.

On the positive side this town is a relatively safe place to live as we don’t have much in the way of serious crime.

I was in central Bristol several months ago and they had lots of activity going on including new roadworks. They have great bus services and there's a vibrant feel to the place.

The traffic in Bristol is terrible and the pollution is extremely high. I hope they are trying to tackle that - perhaps more park and rides for larger towns and cities would be a good idea.

I suggest they reduce the crime and cannabis farms that are being found on a regular basis. Latest being in Speke and the value of the haul is half a million.

Local and government.

Haven't used a bus in Guildford since the days when there were 2 bus stations either side of the river. I mainly used the Onslow Street one but used to meet friends under the clock in the other. As for the railway station, has it changed much since I went with my aunt to see the steam trains? It was always exciting to use the 'passometer' bridge. Tunsgate hasn't been the same since they closed the cinema!

I should think that new bus and rail stations are well overdue for Guildford. Shall have to keep an eye on progress and arrange a visit to see what's been done.

I now live in a small village. The only changes are the building of 5 and 6 bedroom houses on very small plots. Can't underestand why anyone would want a big house in the country with virtually no garden. Spoils what was a nice little moorland village, so maybe we should have invested better for our future.
