Its a quiet Monday here at work. I'm bored stiff as the lads are out on site and the phone hasn't rung since 10am !

I have all the lights on and its black dark outside. Looks like there's a storm a comin'...… I'm picking the older DGC up from school at 3.15 and have no coat so will no doubt end up soaked to the skin. Might rummage around and see if I can find a high vis knocking around.

What's it like where you are?

Sounds like a family get together next door was waiting for the BBQ smells to waft over the fence but that hasnt happened so i think they are just all chatting laughing and having a nice time.smile

The children are playing 'What's the Time Mr Wolf?'

The mum was at playgroup and school with DD2 so I wonder if they played it together?

Clouded over and a strong, very chilly wind. What a change hmm.

Hot!hot!hot! But now a lovely breeze. So been sat in out of the sun all day now enjoying a balmy evening.

Toddler next door has been enjoying his paddling pool, now all is quiet. Bathed the dog to cool him down as he feels the heat. He’s just come back from an evening stroll.

It would be the most perfect summer evening here in my corner of Kent if t were not for cows wo have clearly been separated from their calves today, the sound they are making is just heart-breaking sad

nanaK54 Sat 29-Jun-19 20:13:42

who not wo

Whitewavemark2 Sat 29-Jun-19 20:15:24

Oh nana what we do to our animals?

Washerwoman Sat 29-Jun-19 20:19:14

We heard the cows bellowing yesterday. It went on all day.I must admit I'm not vegan ,nor vegetarian although trying to eat a lot less meat but I did feel very uneasy hearing them.It was only when we moved nearer to farmland that I realised just what a terrible noise they make calling out for their calves.

Urmstongran Sat 29-Jun-19 20:40:38

Oh Washerwoman that’s so sad to read. Would that we could all just enjoy to eat meat after the animals had died a natural death. Never happen I know.

On a lighter note, it’s cooler here now. It was sooo hot at 4pm I was melting. Downstairs (we live on top floor apartment, 2nd floor above commercial - the commercial being a lovely, buzzy bar!) people are enjoying their Saturday night drinking/eating outside with friends and family. Lovely to hear whilst we are up here, in our pj shorts and tops by the patio door, sharing a chilled bottle of Pinot Grigio blush!

As my dad used to say “it’s not bad being poor”.

gillybob Sat 29-Jun-19 21:03:54

Thats exactly why my DGD1 (13) became a vegetarian washerwoman .

FarNorth Sat 29-Jun-19 21:27:53

Lightning and massive thunder!

Urmstongran Sat 29-Jun-19 22:03:44

Where are you FarNorth?

merlotgran Sat 29-Jun-19 22:15:07

Hot hot hot today in Cambridgeshire. Much cooler now though. All the windows wide open and because we have no neighbours to worry about The Killers are on Glastonbury. Full blast!

gillybob Sat 29-Jun-19 22:21:47

BBC news have just reported the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures topping 34 degrees , Well not here it wasn’t where we had 20 degrees at the most .

Sara65 Sat 29-Jun-19 22:30:17

Fell asleep on the sofa with the french doors open, woke up decidedly chilly

EllanVannin Sat 29-Jun-19 22:33:01

18 degrees here ! Rubbish, I'm freezing and off to bed sad

gillybob Sat 29-Jun-19 23:31:40

It’s bloomin’ lashing down here. Okay so it’s 11.30pm but it’s the end of June for goodness sake. A severe weather warning now in place for this part of the North East.

FarNorth Sun 30-Jun-19 00:02:48

North of Scotland, Urmstongran.

Landline phone got hit. Looks like the phone's had it, but the line's still working.
Just a bit breezy now.

A little bit noisy here on this lovely sunny day.

Visiting grandchildren next door are playing a fun game of who can squeal the loudest, the six year old is winning hands down.

Next door to them the power washer is going full throttle as the conservatory roof gets a good clean. Hope he doesn’t fall off the ladder, it’s looking a bit precarious!!

There’s also the inevitable hum of a distant lawnmower. All quiet at the front however. Happy day.

Glammy57 Sun 25-Aug-19 16:15:54

Way too hot in West Wales. Our cat is sleeping under the canopy which we erected in July. So quiet - no lawn mowing, no children screaming. Flowers in full bloom and very pretty??

MissAdventure Sun 25-Aug-19 16:20:32

Absolutely stifling here.
Home from work and sitting outside.
All very quiet, actually.

Spoke too soon, the people in a nearby flat have just put their music on.

Lovely bright sunny day - just come back from a nice foray/walk with doggie and OH - I can hear cow bells and motorbikes in the distance- our area is well known for circular routes with motorbike groups - just far enough not to be unpleasant. At the back of the house, tractors are turning the hay cut yesterday- and a few more cow bells ;)

Our surrounding neighbours of which there are three are in their gardens, one having a barbecue and wine. Can't see others but hear them dotting about. I've been sitting out in garden on my own as DH has been a bit unwell with ongoing stomach and back problems. Went out for a lovely breakfast this morning but he is now suffering for it. Alas no tea for him tonight and it's not quite the same having tea on your own so may just have a snack. Would have been totally different this afternoon if it not were for DH but can't be helped. Hope everyone is having a good day, enjoy the sun.

Charleygirl5 Sun 25-Aug-19 16:40:34

I live in a London suburb and if I did not see houses around me I would have thought I was in the middle of the country. Nobody is making noises with machinery in their gardens. I have just returned from shopping so a few items to tempt the palate tonight and for a few nights.

M7S carpark food store was nearly empty- it suited me but probably not Marks!
