Whats happening outside where you are?

Its a quiet Monday here at work. I'm bored stiff as the lads are out on site and the phone hasn't rung since 10am !

I have all the lights on and its black dark outside. Looks like there's a storm a comin'...… I'm picking the older DGC up from school at 3.15 and have no coat so will no doubt end up soaked to the skin. Might rummage around and see if I can find a high vis knocking around.

What's it like where you are?

Only early so the busy main road we live on is very quiet still. I can hear wood pigeons. There are 3 people on the station platforms across the road.

Two are waiting for the Liverpool train and the lady on this side is looking down the line for the train into Manchester. I should use the trains more often myself really.

Jackdaws tap dancing on the roof. Sky is pearly bright. Another warm day?

Urmstongran Fri 28-Jun-19 15:39:03

Very hot here in the sun but with a soft breeze which is nice. School’s out - mummies walking their little ones home. A train has just pulled into the railway station across the road and commuters are coming up the station steps. And peeping over our verandah (we are on the top floor of our apartments, only two floors) people are sat outside in the bar below - drinking wines, beers and cool drinks - sunglasses and shorts in proliferation.

Very hot today but a good breeze which helped at the school sports this morning. Great fun and Parents/Grandparents/Carers all brought picnics and sat in groups with their children apart from one Mum , of a dear wee reception child, who had obviously rushed in from work, had her phone clamped to her ear on 4 or 5 calls for a full 20 minutes paying little attention to her son and then rushed off leaving him with a teacher. Where was the joy in that for either of them...?

Beautiful day in Birmingham - at last.

harrigran Thu 27-Jun-19 16:08:23

Just arrived home from lunch out, put up the parasol and sat down with novel, neighbour has started up his noisy mower and spoilt the peace.

Just woken up and it is warm here. Birds still asleep and no breeze so very quiet. Forecast says hot later so may get up soon and do the ironing. Or I may leave it to another day.

It’ll soon come gillybob
?
It’s warm here. I’m glad as it’s our grandson’ sports day in the morning (maybe sensible if it’s going to be hot). We shall be cheering him on at 9:30am!

The sky over the North Sea has turned a lovely shade of pink. High hopes for some good weather to come. Roll on Friday PM.

Callistemon Wed 26-Jun-19 20:53:05

It must be birds’ teatime, I think.
Grandma70s

They seem to come at set times of the day - 7.30 am , 9.30, 11.30 and so on.
They must have had their 'tea' at 3.30!

It's quiet and still here. There's a squirrel, eating the nuts I left out for him. Next-door's cat is sitting watching, but not bothering with it.

jura2 Wed 26-Jun-19 17:44:13

hot, hot, hot - scorchio

sun has gone around to the back now- but still too hot to go and water the borders. Had to have a siesta this afternoon

KatyK Wed 26-Jun-19 17:42:25

This part of Birmingham is cold and dull. Hoping for better tomorrow sunshine

TerriBull Wed 26-Jun-19 17:40:12

It's brightened up here in the south east this afternoon, but very breezy washing is blowing about which makes a nice change from yesterday.

As much as I like sunshine I'm not particularly looking forward to the heatwave coming our way, sounds awful if France's current weather is anything to go by.

gillybob Wed 26-Jun-19 17:15:49

Well I’m outta here in a minute. Thank goodness. There’s only so much lorry watching you can do in any one day. It’s brightened up a touch but it’s still pretty chilly.

GabriellaG54 Wed 26-Jun-19 16:33:59

Sunshine all day. Sleeveless weather and 23 degrees outdoors, even warmer indoors.
People sitting at pavement cafes. Here at Winkworth NT arboretum, it's wonderful. I've had a huge slice of triple layer choc cake with vanilla buttercream and a cappuccino.
All's well in my world ATM. grin

Grandma70s Wed 26-Jun-19 16:16:26

A dog has just barked. I can’t see it.

Grandma70s Wed 26-Jun-19 16:14:14

Exactly the same here, Callistemon. Not a thing. There is usually a blackbird singing, but not at the moment. It must be birds’ teatime, I think.

Callistemon Wed 26-Jun-19 16:10:04

Nothing.
Apart from a few leaves waving in a light breeze. Not even a bird or squirrel to be seen, they must all be snoozing.

Marmight Wed 26-Jun-19 15:33:19

Watching my rotary washing line in the courtyard. It snapped off leaving the bottom bit stuck in the 'ole. So I've shoved what's left of it into the sun brolly base but it's at a rather jaunty angle & keeps taking off into the hedge between me and the sheep... Probably too much washing on it - not mine - the 'temporary' lodgers (DD, SiL & 2 GS. 9 weeks so far ?). Oh, well keeps me on my toes

gillybob Wed 26-Jun-19 10:45:02

What a vivid picture you have painted DoraMarr I can almost hear all the commotion !

I'm stuck in the middle of an industrial estate, vans going backwards and forwards outside and that's about it really. Its grey, damp and chilly too.

DoraMarr Wed 26-Jun-19 09:20:27

Below my window ( I’m on the fifth floor) a man is doing face painting on other men. Someone else has a shopping trolley full of flags of two nations. Some very smartly dressed people are going by, but most people are dressed for changeable weather, and quite a few are carrying cushions. I can hear the sounds of chanting, singing and vuvuzuelas, but no drums just yet. An open- topped bus carrying men dressed in green and waving huge flags has done a couple of turns. Yes, it’s the Pakistan v New Zealand World Cup match at Edgbaston Stadium. I hope the rain keeps off!

Well it’s been “Baltic” here too BlueSapphire (not in a good way mind you ) bloomin’ freezing tonight . Heating on , boots and puffa coat back out of wardrobe ready for school run tomorrow . Brrrrrrr

chocolatepudding Tue 25-Jun-19 20:33:07

Update - there are three kestrel fledglings!

BlueSapphire Tue 25-Jun-19 16:21:10

Been a lovely day here on the Baltic, bright sunshine and a calm sea, and have spent the afternoon reading on deck.
