Oh yes, and to those who say the neighbours were seeking to make more by selling the story. Clearly, that is not the case since they gave it to the only paper that does not pay for stories (The Guardian)! They state that they gave it to them because they feel it is in the public interest since he is running for Prime Minister. This man has a history of showing that his values include seeing women as objects, racism, sexism, irresponsibility in respect if his relationships and his children. The character a person has in their private life, is the same character they have when making policy in government.

There is a distinct line between abuse and a row over spilt wine.
Both may have had more than one glass of wine and who wouldn't go mad if wine was spilt.
Of course it depends on how much was spilt and if the sofa was a pale colour and/or new.
I'm always wary of friends gesturing when holding a glass of red as the carpets and my sofa are cream but I have insurance...as you do.

Wow! I’m stunned that so many gransnetters would see this as a ‘non-story’. Two women are killed every week in the UK by their partner, or former partner. The neighbours didn’t just here a row. They heard banging, crashing, his partner screaming, then shouting “get off me”, and later “get out” (of her flat) and him refusing. They discussed how concerned they should be. They went around to the flat and knocked. There was no reply. It continued. They went and knocked twice more. Still no reply, so they started recording (as people often do to provide evidence of a potential crime) and called the Police. Contrary to what Johnson’s defenders say, the Police have not said everything was fine and no crime was committed, they said that they spoke to both parties, who told them ‘everything was fine’, so there was no evidence APPARENT to them of an offence. This happens all the time in cases of domestic abuse.

In short, that wasn’t a normal row. Normal rows don’t generally involve screaming and shouting “get off me”.

No one is criticising Boris for drinking too much or swearing annie.

They are criticising him for his lack of judgement and lack of self-control in having a loud, abusive argument with his g/f at 1 o’clock in the morning and questioning his suitability for the office of Prime Minister.
It’s nothing to do with your drinking or smoking habits.
When someone puts himself forward for high public office, we do have the right to judge and criticise and Boris will be well aware of that fact, which makes his arrogance all the more angering.
But I agree with whitewave that the most worrying aspect is his association with Bannon and Farage.

I add my voice to those who say it is an invasion of privacy. What kind of person puts a recording microphone against a neighbour's wall when a couple are having an argument? Then sends their recording to the Guardian? What an utter revolting creep!

Maybe if one is worried, one should call the Police since we could not know if someone were in danger. However, to make a news story out of an event that proved innocuous is pure spite. `Very nasty indeed.

We should simply listen to the Police report on the matter: having been called, they found;

" all safe and well. There were no offences or concerns apparent to the officers and there was no cause for police action.”

No more to be said.

The neighbours admit to being left wing and hating Boris and the Tories. Yes, Boris and his partner should be more discrete but it makes you wonder if left wing newspapers are (paying) or at least encouraging people to dig up dirt.

Scenario.
They both have a glass of wine or two.
He spills some on her sofa.
She goes mad and accused him if being careless with other people's possessions and calls him spoilt.
He tries to calm her down in measured tones.
She starts throwing plate(s) and glass(es) at him.
He tries to restrain her.
She shouts 'Get off me, get out of my flat'.
She then grabs his laptop.
He then raises his voice and shouts 'Get off my f**** laptop'.

His fault or her fault?
Nothing unusual except for the nosey neighbour.
Boris was apparently not shouting until she grabbed his laptop.

The Grauniad doesn’t pay for stories. Had t got any money. The people living there are wealthy as are Boris and his tottie, both benefitting from family money . I don’t see how that makes them any worse than Boris.

It is heartening that BJ's poll rating has gone down - but that just leaves us with JH, the NHS-wrecker. I will never forgive him for the political manipulation of the junior doctors. But at least he seems passingly sane - wrong, but sane. God help us all!

I don't think anyone is saying they were wrong to call the police - I would have done so myself. What is questionable is after being told by the police that all was well they sent the recording to the press.
