I have just come home and I have been reading through the posts on this thread and I must say I am disgusted that any person, especially female could say it was just a domestic and we wouldn't have called the police. Also GG Ij think money on your education has been completely wasted if the only word you come up with is cretin, a word that was used to describe people like my daughter with a learning disability. Even the people you wouldn't want living near you wouldn't use it now. Shame on you.

Quite correct in my view Anniebach, but surely if those in the public eye are not the type of person to engage in a stable marriage and domestic life, then perhaps they should seek a career outside of public view.

Saw a comment from a person who just commented that a few years back his lovely 22-year old daughter was killed by her boy friend, whilst living in a multi-occupied flat. Others had heard their arguement, but had not reported it to the police. had they done so, they will probably have saved her life.

Well, the above is a constructive post, which begs the question "why post if you have interest in what is being discussed?

BJ is not PM material whether he's blotted his copybook or not. The fact that he must have been " tanked up " to have exploded like he did does not bode well with anyone who could well lead a country.
What of his heavy nights of drinking then speeches to make each day ? There's little sense out of any of them at the best of times, there'd be even less sense coming out of someone whose mind was already addled.

Well, Anniebach, i feel that my wife Carol and me have enjoyed a quiet and very stable married/domestic life for the last fifty years.

Bringing up our three daughters in that stable and loving environment was our first priority in the early years of our marriage.

And that's the way it should be we believe.

The person who reported this has indeed been named - but the idea that he should be shamed is quite frankly ridiculous as is the idea that two people were having an argument in the privacy of their own home - if this were so they would not have been heard out on the street at ground level - the young married couple who called the police had only been in that block for a year and made the recording because of the loud bang and the fact that she told him to ‘get off’ her - so what should they have done? Closed their eyes to a potential rape or beating of a woman - I’m pretty disgusted with the comments on this thread that Boris is entitled to this and that - get real all of you who feel that a politician who thrusts himself in the public eye first with one policy and then another is entitled to a private life - he isn’t and let’s face it Boris is the first to leak stories of others’ indiscretions to the press for his own gain - he’s up for public scrutiny in all his relationships - surprised that sone women are now arguing for the rights of a misogynist!

Posters seem worried Boris may eventually be an embarrassment on the world stage.
I suppose John Kennedy would have caused embarrassment if his philandering had been public knowledge at the time, and as for Bill Clinton......?

Can't believe the support for Boris shown by majority of gransnetters on this site as far as I am concerned this was a case of domestic violence and for all that the neighbour knew that girl could have been injured or dead I am sure he recorded what he heard incase it was ever needed what he did with it next is up to him many other neighbours also concerned disgusted

Callistemon, you are entirely correct to bring to the attention of all engaged in this thread that domestic abuse is not solely against the woman in any relationship. Many men are victims of such violence, and I should have referred to that in my above posts.

Some forum members making posts on this thread are now attempting to "play down" the significance of her shouts of "get off me" and the noise of breaking crockery etc.

However, this very strong domestic dispute was being carried out within the confines of a flat that enabled others the hear all that was going on, but unable to see what actions were possibly being perpetrated of one against the other. Therefore the recording of the incident was justified should any injury occur to ether persons involved.

As i have already started, if anyone wishes to become the next Prime Minister of the United Kinkdom, having a stable and quiet domestic life would be a huge advantage should you not want the press to have that domestic life as their lead story for any number of days.

His and Carrie's ages are of no consequence. Would it be ok if she were 40...or 60?
Who are you to criticise and we have no idea what went on in his marriage to Marina or his reasons for leaving. It's all supposition as none of us lived with them.
We only know what is reported and many of you dismiss reports as 'fake news' or biased journalism.. when the occasion suits, of course.

It isn't a question of defending him, more a question of being uncomfortable at people immediately jumping to the conclusion that it is "domestic abuse" and he is the perpetrator - no-one knows what really happened.

I don't think he is suitable to be PM but I would rather he was defeated on known facts, not supposition.

Had you read my post properly, you would realise that I referred to people who have 'dirty hands' pointing a finger, in other words, if one is 'guilty' (and I use that word advisedly) of moving on to another partner before properly ending one relationship or marriage yet feel it's ok to castigate Boris for doing just that.
As that doesn't apply to you then obviously I'm not talking about you or anyone who has not, in the past, emulated Boris's modus operandi.

really! I'm glad they put their smartphone to the wall after phoning the police. This is after midnight not paper thin walls - victorian substantial residence (obviously!) and woman screaming 'get off - get out of my flat'. AND supposed to be next PM? Too right it should be reported. I think you are all mad to defend him as a human being let alone someone with the highest power in the land. Do you not take domestic abuse seriously? Do you not have disdain for 55 year old man dumping his wife for woman 25 years his junior...is she to be our first lady? A man who wont even acknowledge all of his illegitimate children? what is it that makes people think he is worthy? What is it that makes people want him as a leader? What is it that makes people defend him to the ends of the earth. At what point would they say...perhaps not?

A lot is being made of her shouting "get off me". It reminds me of a time some years ago when DH and I were waiting to board a plane. A couple next to us were having an argument. He said something along the lines of they were on holiday so why not forget it and just enjoy themselves, he then picked up her hand. She shouted at the top of her voice "get off me".

There are a number of different scenarios where these words could have been used - it isn't necessarily the one where he was attacking her.

We have no way of knowing exactly what happened and there is a lot of guessing going on. Unless one of them decides to give a detailed account, and why should they, we will never know.
