Recording Boris and partner

This is totally ridiculous as a news headline. Can't a couple have a row without the world knowing. I'm not a Boris fan but this is out of order imo.

Think if they are in any high profile job it goes with the territory. Awful as it seems impossible not surprised. Not keen on the neighbour who recorded apit I'd be watching out if I was him!

It was reported that the neighbours heard a woman screaming and shouting "get off me" - I'd be very concerned if I heard that coming from a neighbour's house. And, as others have said, if it had merely been reported and there wasn't a recording, it would have been dismissed as "fake news" (now it can't be). Why was it given to a left wing newspaper - because the right wing ones wouldn't print it (they support him). Overall, I can't see how it won't affect someone's work life if their private life is so messy - and his has been messy for decades. He shows poor judgement, a lack of self-discipline, a lack of loyalty; a lack of self-control, a lack of a good work ethic, and dodgy choices in his private life - I can't see how that won't spill over into his job as PM. We don't become a completely different person at work.

They turned the volume DOWN on their TV as they couldn't hear it! Most people would have turned it UP. Politically motivated.

Having heard the "transcript" that the neighbor recorded, it sounded to me like Boris had decided to stay up late probably researching for his hustings the next day, while the girlfriend was feeling miffed at the lack of his presence in bed. So she grabbed his laptop from him, he was heard saying "get off my laptop", he went to wrestle it back from her, she was heard yelling "get off me" and in the tussle some wine spilt on her sofa, and it all escalated. Although I hate Boris, I think this argument was largely the woman's doing.

HOWEVER... what worries me is, this woman doesn't sound like the typical prime minister's partner who usually kind of put up with the fact the role in office is going to come very much first for a few years and tend to remain in a quietly supportive role. How is he going to function at his best with a woman who is making relationship demands on him that conflict with him needing to spend long into the night working, like pretty much all PMs have been known to?

The neighbour is a remainer, so the lowest of the low, and must have set up some listening device. Omg, This is becoming more like a soap opera. They didn’t get any money for it btw.

NainGymraeg Sun 23-Jun-19 10:35:16

How would those neighbours have felt if they hadn’t reacted - twice went to knock loudly on their door to check for safety and then, because of no answer, contacted the police?
Sadly, we read of too many cases where neighbours “mind their own business” and turn up the TV volume only to find later news of domestic violence resulting in death.
Wannabe PM or not, he is still accountable for his actions and particularly as wannabe PM his behaviour should be above suspicion.

Thanks Annie I really appreciate that.

Boris wasn't shouting she was because he was on her laptop she shouted "get of my laptop" then plates being thrown about it wasn't Boris it was the female.

The amount of conversation this lovely neighbour, who is a Remainer, heard seems very detailed, so either the walls are paper thin or he has some kind of listening device. When I have heard my next door neighbours I don't usually hear every detail. I live in a terraced property. Contacting the Guardian is enough for me.

Being honest I would have called the police just incase someone was badly hurt. There was a loud bang and smashing glass/crockery with a woman telling him to get off and leave. Just because it's a politician doesn't mean DV can't happen behind closed doors. Do not condone giving the recording to the press though

annep1 Sun 23-Jun-19 10:28:51

Hmmm. Interesting to hear other views.

Rosina Sun 23-Jun-19 10:28:35

I wonder how much this neighbour got from the Guardian to hand over the recording. Nobody else reported the row; I am indifferent to BJ but this is just too much when people, if they want to shout at each other, can't do it without having their private life blown up on the front page . As the police decided there was no need to investigate I also wonder if the neighbour, who is hostile to BJ in any event, has been lurking to pickup anything he can to record.

More to the point is it right that someone who is going through a divorce should be in charge of running the country? His mind must be all over the place. Is he able to focus on the importancy of running the country?

Camelotclub Sun 23-Jun-19 10:24:01

I think that a man who might well be our future PM should not have secrets. If this is how he conducts himself when thwarted (probably) what might he be like in power?

crystaltipps Sun 23-Jun-19 10:23:41

Maybe blame the press for printing the story? Or us lot for reading it and talking about it? Or maybe a thoughtless drink fuelled row that just happened to be between an aspirational prime minister and his much younger tottie? Oh no, let’s blame the neighbours who have to put up with it. Let’s face it, it’s a bit of gossip and we are indulging it, so just as much to blame.

Authoress Sun 23-Jun-19 10:21:25

The guy banged three times on the door after hearing what sounded like a rape going on, audible from the street. And another neighbour said that she was going to call the police as the police van turned up.
I think I would have called the police too.

maxdecatt Sun 23-Jun-19 10:17:14

"Mt & Mrs Smith". They were a married suburban couple of assassins. Some great fight scenes! Did you see the movie?

Anniebach Sun 23-Jun-19 10:17:08

trisher I agree with you , i think it will strengthen support for Johnson

maxdecatt Sun 23-Jun-19 10:11:12

The recording and the press....the sum total of those two = money.

Every single journalist saying that the neighbours shouldn't have released the story should know that their publication has at some time or another called me and asked for information on abusive MPs. It is rank hypocrisy

Whitewavemark2 Sun 23-Jun-19 10:08:53

Oh some on this thread see it as ordinary omegal extraordinary..

Incredibly irresponsible to normalise it.

omega1 Sun 23-Jun-19 10:03:38

Sounds like an abusive relationship to me. Its a pity people don't recognise it for what it is. Its not just an ordinary row when plates etc are being thrown about .

trisher Sun 23-Jun-19 10:02:00

I have mixed feelings about this. Calling the police I fully endorse, the recording and the press are another question. But if you live next door to Boris it must be a constant temptation to do so. The trouble is I suspect that this story may have entirely the opposite effect, leading the Tory faithful to think 'Poor Boris' and vote for him even more, as they reach the conclusion it's all a left wing plot to keep him out of No.10 and stop Brexit.

Grandmabeach Sun 23-Jun-19 10:01:59

Exactly my thoughts Gemmag.

silverlining48 Sun 23-Jun-19 10:01:44

I agree with your comment about scrutiny.

silverlining48 Sun 23-Jun-19 10:00:48

I agree crystal.
