Todays planned garden centre visit has been postponed as wee needed to take one of ours home after school. Not sure if I'm disappointed or relieved 
It sound as if you need an afternoon nap greyd, maybe a comfortable chair in the shade with a nice cuppa and a 'real' piece of cake? These ultra early mornings are not fun at all.
Trying not to worry about our poorly friend, reading between the lines she is pushing herself too much and is likely to trigger yet more problems. Nothing we can do to change her, so I'm trying to convince myself that as an adult she is entitled to make her own decisions while hoping they don't backfire on all of us.
I should be cleaning. I was going to iron but the ironing board collapsed under me - apparently terminal so we'll collect a new one on the way back late afternoon. Oh well, the collapsed one has served us well, shame to see it go, it feels like an old friend.

Right, loud sighing from Mr C seems to indicate I've been sat long enough while he has carried on with cleaning the bathroom. Isn't it wonderful the message a sigh can convey

Morning all, I’ve also been awake since before dawn, in my case with a furiously itchy arm - a wee beastie got me at Harlow Carr yesterday. I’ve been taking industrial amounts of antihistamine for almost a week now, after that bee sting malarkey, but clearly my levels are still ridiculously high. Hey ho, its going to be a long day!
Now I’ll whisper this quietly so as not to offend anyone....sport does nothing for me. There, I've said it now, I do enjoy that other folk get so much pleasure from it but that’s as far as it goes. Having said that, years ago, on several occasions, we were given tickets for Wimbledon and I did enjoy that, well it would have been rude not to!
Some beautiful garden photos around in the kitchen these days, they are always lovely to see. swanny I too am woefully behind, I manage to read or post but very seldom both at the same time....where does time go? Belated birthday wishes, yes these occasions do draw us back to reflect on life and where it’s taken us. Sounds like you’re a positive person with lots to enjoy in your life, i can understand that gap you sometimes feel though. ?
Fab cake, Izabella, is there any left? Ann I’m so sorry you have the bill business to sort out. It does seem very steep considering all the circumstances. Good luck as you go into battle, if you end up having to pay it well so be it, but don’t give in with out a fight. But as I write that I realise you may just not feel you have the energy for that right now. ?
Now Greyduster and Corner, don’t you know that lurking around near plant stalls is a very dangerous business? I too find it very hard to resist and as I'm easily swayed have to studiously avoid going anywhere near our “man on the market”..... oh goody, it’s Tuesday market today. After a busy weekend with 2 grandchildren here over the weekend, we had a little jaunt to our RHS gardens yesterday. What a delight, I’m totally in awe of those who plan, plant and tend it all to ensure there is always a veritable feast of textures, colours and scents to enjoy. I’ll attach some photos, must away now. After my early start it would be rather ironic to be late for this mornings activity!! Have a good day, kitchen folk, whatever it holds for you
So this is ridiculous! I have been awake since just after three when I felt as if something had bitten me on the leg. I switched on the torch on my phone but couldn’t see anything and there is no mark. So here I am, downstairs in the conservatory eating biscuits and drinking coffee, having signally failed to get back to sleep. I have watched the sun come up, had a walk round the garden in my pyjamas.......
I could do with a bit of that lovely cake, Izabella! It has a definite wow factor!
Lovely photos, Corner. I had some crocosmia in my garden but it got so out of hand I had to dig it out before it took over. It wasn’t as nice as that one though! It looks like the variety they call ‘Lucifer’.
Soop that’s rather an exotic looking specimen in your photo. My house leeks are flowering at the moment and i always think they look rather ‘alien’ too.
Nice to see you again, swanny! Happy birthday for yesterday. Don’t do too much reminiscing - I’m sure you have lots to look forward to!

Well I've got as far as page 5 in this reincarnation of soop's kitchen, after failing to find where I last posted! Welcome to the new members - you won't find a comfier place to be I don't know what I've been doing to be so far behind with the kitchen activities but I've missed you all dreadfully 
Today Yesterday was my birthday and after dinner out on Sunday with my beloved little family then DIL and DGS visiting after school today (DS was overseeing kitchen renovations that are running late 
) I have been reminiscing over the last (cough) 'erm' years. DH1 and I were married nearly 53 years ago and so much has changed since then. He is on partner number ? now. I remarried briefly and mistakenly nearly 40 years ago, divorced and since then have focussed on other things/people. I've learned a lot since then but still miss the companionship of someone special. Enough - I'm getting maudlin'. TOYA to all kitcheners, you are special people 
Evening All. Just been outside deadheading (or as Littlest says beheading), lovely still evening, still warm but not stifling. I’m not sure I could be happy without a garden, tiny though ours is.
Those plants look good greyd, I’m sure they will thrive. We constantly say no more plants then manage to squeeze one in somewhere. My theory is that gardens expand to fit the available plants.

Wow izabella that cake looks wonderful, sadly no crumbs left now, probably as well for my ever expanding girth. As chocolate covered strawberries count as part of my fruit allowance I enjoyed those greyd, I also hid some for your grandson, can’t deprive him .
You’re doing so well with your new home panache, it’s going the right way. Take care.
Struggling to keep awake this evening so may retire with my book. The photos are from Saturday mornings pit stop at a National Trust. Sadly not my garden .

I spent part of this morning making chocolate covered strawberries to take over for GS after school. I am not sure he actually deserves them after this weekend, so I will leave some of them in the kitchen. Please help yourselves.
I have just been into the village to post a card for DS and DiL’s anniversary (the other two don’t do anniversaries, sadly) and couldn’t resist buying a couple of plants from the greengrocer. One is salvia ‘hotlips’ which I have wanted for some time but couldn’t find space for. The other is some sort of chrysanthemum type thingy (you can see how horticulturally challenged I am!!) which should, with luck, provide some interest into the autumn. So DH will have some digging to do when we get in this evening. I suppose I could do it, as my leg is much better (I don’t think it could have been a torn muscle afterwards; just a pulled one), but it keeps him off the streets ?!
It seems we have all come down off the ceiling after the weekend’s sport! By gum, it were excitin’! I don’t suppose GS will be persuaded to dig out the cricket stuff and relive the highlights with me. He likes diving about, like Ben Stokes, so you never know! I will look in later!

Bellasnana So near...and yet.... I could feel Roger's aching disappointment. Both played an amazing game. It could not have been closer. There were moments when I turned away during the longer rallies. A fabulous fortninght of tennis. Who won the mixed doubles? I couldn't find the match on our television.
