Thank you that is kind , love shortbread . Being Scottish and living in England I do miss a lot of items from Scotland , not shortbread obviously

soop Fri 21-Jun-19 14:54:46

A very warm welcome to venall. You may have the chaise with a view of the sea through the window. Also, providing that lot haven't scoffed it all, please help yourself to some of the Scottish all butter shortbread that I brought home from the Highlands. grin

Izabella I am sorry to hear the news of your husband's dear friend's death from sepsis. It is a wicked thing. It takes hold swiftly and needs urgent treatment without delay.
May I also add that I think your posts are of great benefit to us lot. Since joining Gransnet, I have learned so much from the varied and complex issues that other Granspals are prepared to share. flowers

Welcome to Bordergirl...you will enjoy the ambience of our kitchen. A word of warning...should lemongrove try to tempt you to visit the Argy Bargy then you will need one of us lot to escort you. It's a den of iniquity and may well turn your head from pleasantries to other stuff and nonsense. wink

What a lovely post from Panache. You are inching ever closer to embarking on a new chapter in your lives. flowers sunshine

Fabulous photos of blushing brides and handsome husbands. You all look amazing. N&G Your granddaughter, 'Queen of the Universe' is the image of you. smile

I no longer have photos but this was the pattern of the dress my sister made for my wedding..it was in white satin, trimmed with pearls. Based on the green dress. She made it without the frill, dropped the hem by six inches and added a train. I loved it.

NanaandGrampy Fri 21-Jun-19 10:12:32

I cut my dress up and made a christening gown for my daughter who will be 40 this year .

I’ll have to find a picture x

cornergran Fri 21-Jun-19 10:12:31

Mine are black and white too. Most look like something out of a horror film. It had been snowing, so dark sky and tombstones. A couple of weeks ago one of our daughters in law asked why she hadn’t seen them. I was forced to find one, the rest remain hidden grin. Don’t have my wedding dress, it seemed logical to me that as I was never going to wear it again I didn’t need it. Yes, I know - odd. Would it fit now? Nope! I did keep some trimmings, some lace from the bodice and a piece of the train. Some of the rest was made into a christening gown for a friend also a pram cover for ours. I didn’t wear a veil, hated myself in one, shocked my ma in law to be, that was 1969. Times have changed smile.

Bellanonna Fri 21-Jun-19 10:01:29

Lovely pics Kitty. Sadly mine are all black and white (1968}

annsixty Fri 21-Jun-19 10:01:07

For any lovers of Frazier on tv there was an episode of Daphne trying on a wedding dress which was about 30 inches from neckline to hemline, made in white plastic type material with lots of holes and worn with a veil
Perhaps that is the look she is going for kitty
Will you all be flying over?

aggie Fri 21-Jun-19 10:00:09

Lovely Photos smile , I have mine in an album somewhere . My dress was in the dress up box , might still be there , one DD would have worn it , fitted her everywhere except the ... ahem .. chest area , it is too big grin

kittylester Fri 21-Jun-19 09:58:22

Try another one. This is one of 6 new fangled (and terribly expensive!) colour photos we had done.

kittylester Fri 21-Jun-19 09:54:56

It is. Blast it!!

kittylester Fri 21-Jun-19 09:54:35

First, a message for izabella. The Alzheimers Society Knowledge people have investigated whether DNRs are legal abroad. They are not. And, in fact, they are not legally binding here.

Yes, Ann, the wedding is in Las Vegas. I dont get it either! confused

I've posted a photo of the very expensive veil! It might be sideways.

Bellanonna Fri 21-Jun-19 09:28:59

Lovely pictures of both of you, and your new spouses!

Nannytopsy Fri 21-Jun-19 09:28:28

I said I have the dress Ann - did not say it fits!! ?

Bellanonna Fri 21-Jun-19 09:27:19

I still have my size 10 lacy dress too. Although covered it was very dusty last time I looked and certainly wouldn’t fit me now, nearly 51 years later.

Charleygirl5 Fri 21-Jun-19 09:27:10

kitty 36 shillings was a lot of money then!

callgirl would Mia not be happier staying at home especially if Lynne is there and you could twist somebody's arm to feed her and change her litter tray. She would really appreciate her mum when you come home.

I cannot do that for Tara because she would rip the house to pieces wondering where I was. It may be okay for a couple of nights but no longer.

I really think -you lot- should value what teeth you have left and not start munching at least until after 12 midday. I do realise it is a lost cause with alcohol.

annsixty Fri 21-Jun-19 09:25:05

I can go better than that NannyT
I still have my 1958 dress, it would fit around my leg now.
I have put a “ little bit “ of weight on since those days.
I thought the wedding is going to be in Las Vegas kitty did I imagine that?

NanaandGrampy Fri 21-Jun-19 09:21:43

Morning all !

Its a sunny one here today and please keep your fingers crossed for a warm weekend as our girls are spending it with us without grandchildren etc. Very excited to be just the 4 of us.

Love the picture NannyT , we should all post our wedding picture :-) I'll follow your lead ….

Made me laugh Galen , now I know how to deter those pesky elephants that must be what's trampling down the marigolds !!

I must head off to make a lasagne for tonight and get the wine chilling- happy day all !!
