Grandchildren have departed, peace is very welcome after a couple of busy, people filled days. There is an air show we thought we might drive to see complete with Red Arrows but it would have been a rush. We decided neither of us has the energy so its feet up and do, well, probably very little until tomorrow when Mr C needs a chauffeur for an unreasonably early appointment with the dentist to finish the crown installation. .

soop I agree Brodie does not look at all scrawny but if you think he is bordering on elderly he will have worked out ages ago there is a steady supply of decent food kept dry for him so if he does not fancy a hot meal, he need not exert himself.

My next door neighbour is cooking something delectable- I wonder if she would like an extra bod at the table whenever she is serving? I am not too sure where they are from, some Asian country but they are good neighbours, pleasant and helpful.

May sound a silly question but how do you high light some ones name on here.

It is a humid day. There is tennis to watch later. Andy and Feliciano have made it through to the final at Queens. Feliciano also has the singles final to play. What amazing stamina. I shall be cheering them on at full throttle.

Charleyg Tara missed you. Aww! Our boy, Brodie visits the outdoor chalet several times each day and night. He has certainly come to appreciate the finer things of life. We stand looking through the window and marvel at his ruggedness. We think that he may be borderline elderly. It's difficult to know with feral cats. He certainly isn't scrawny.

Welcome, Jessity TOYA means...thinking of you all. As you will realise, the kitchen gets awful busy on occasions. Some of us lot (including me) can barely catch up. It seems fitting to close each day with TOYA, especially when there are few Granspals dealing with a variety of buggerations.

callgirl1 I meant to say that Brodie's shortish/flattened ears are possibly an indication that he has wild cat genes. He visits at least three times daily (and during the night). We are extremely fond of him.

Grannygravy I had to do that several years ago to my D and 8 week old GS.
It was for 3 years but actually she came home twice a year so it quickly went by.

venall no cake lasts longer than 2 minutes when kindly left in the kitchen. Not that the takers are greedy gannets- oh heaven forbid definitely not. That does sound nice, shortbread with my morning coffee would set off the day.

Apparently the T will be 25C in London- I can tolerate that. Tara left the country ages ago, mumping and moaning.

Morning All. Noisy birthday get together yesterday for our Littlest. A busy, sunny day full of noise, laughter and love followed by a meal with one of ours and his daughters before bringing two grandchildren back here for a sleepover. They are still sleeping, as is Mr C, so an opportunity for me to catch up a little.

Hello to jesscity, bordersgirl and venall. Hope I haven’t missed anyone, not too good at keeping up at the moment. There seems to be plenty of cake about (smile).

Not sure what today will bring once the children are on their way, suspect very little .

That sounds very good Jesscity! When are you baking? There’s a Nigella moist chocolate loaf cake by the Aga.

bordersgirl57 hard to pick a favourite cake, probably Yorkshire Parkin, need to think ahead for that one as it’s best left untouched for a week, despite temptation, so that it gets properly sticky.

And there’s a very good Mary Berry recipe somewhere for a gorgeous chocolate cake...... While we’re deciding, how about that old favourite, Victoria sponge filled with plum, apricot and rum conserve and softly whipped cream?

If that had been Mia she`d have been demanding that I share the fish! She`s booked in at the cattery by the way, so no need to worry that she`s being neglected!
