I missed that post, I thought it was the cold shoulder one, with which I agree.
Do not give them oxygen..
So pleased for your son callgirl and for you and his family of course.
Turned much cooler here tonight, it is very pleasant.
I am invited out for a meal tomorrow so I hope it is nice as we intend to eat outside.
It will be a lovely change.
TOYA.

Doodle Fri 05-Jul-19 21:04:38

Great new callgirl. So pleased for you all.
Another lovely baby. What a cutie Ellie is.
Good for you maw. Hope you have a lovely time.

As an aside, Lara was right. There was a post suggesting that some people should be blackballed using that exact word and I think that was why the post was deleted.

cornergran Fri 05-Jul-19 20:42:23

Certainly a lovely girl nannyfaraway, delighted to meet her.

Wonderful news callgirl, what a relief for you both. Day one of not itching here, hooray smile.

Good for you maw, best to let these things take their time and it seems you are at the point when you can. Never been on Eurostar but that and a steam train, or trains, sounds just right.

Busy old day today, although out to look at planes this hollyhock caught my eye. Loved the colour. Whisper this but I much preferred it to the planes wink.

TOYA and yes, be good everyone.

Nannyfaraway Fri 05-Jul-19 19:35:05

Thankyou all for the compliments for my Grandaughter. I think she is beautiful and advanced for her age but I'm biased?
Callgirl that's wonderful news about your son.
Maw that sounds a great holiday. I'm sure you'll have a good time

MawBroonsback Fri 05-Jul-19 18:05:38

I am taking the plunge and going on my own, but in a group. I dot fancy going on holiday with just one friend, in case we are no longer friends by the time we come home! The worst that can happen is that I will just have to take a deep breath, pin a smile on my face and hope others are kind to me!

callgirl1 Fri 05-Jul-19 18:02:28

Thank you everyone. He`s coming to London with us next Tuesday and Wednesday, so now he can relax and really enjoy it.
MawB, that holiday sounds lovely, are you going on your own or with someone? I miss being able to plan holidays, people tell me to go on my own, but I still haven`t plucked up the courage.

MawBroonsback Fri 05-Jul-19 17:37:54

Hattie will go to her favourite holiday camp known as kennels where they love her and I think she enjoys the company. She always wags her tail when we arrive so I don’t think she is at all unhappy.

Charleygirl5 Fri 05-Jul-19 17:34:22

callgirl that is fabulous news- you must be so relieved.

Maw that sounds great- where is the lovely Hattie going- somebody must look after her interests!!!

soop you will enjoy the catch-up. I also am looking forward to seeing Serena and Andy so I must sort out an early supper.
TOYA

soop Fri 05-Jul-19 17:28:48

callgirl1 Ring that bell! Wow! That is the best news we could hope for. We shall most certainly update David. flowers wine cupcake

Our guest stayed for a very lengthy blether. I've done very little else, and now I'm chasing my shadow.

Please forgive me if I wish you all a pleasant Friday evening and sneek away to see what's happening on the tennis court.

I particularly wish to see Andy and Serena playing for the first time in the doubles. Have no idea what's been happening on any of the courts. I shall no doubt catch up.

TOYA (((hugs))) smile moon

MawBroonsback Fri 05-Jul-19 17:24:22

Brilliant news-the best- Callgirl! I am so happy for you all!
Now to share some holiday plans - at last.
I have not felt able -or indeed the urge- to go on any sort of holiday since Paw died, other than visiting the family, but perhaps under the influence of Mini Magnums I have just booked a week in the Hartz mountains in Germany in September by Eurostar/DBB/and steam train!!
My parents met in that area at the end of WWII and Paw and I always thought we would try to find “ their places”.
Just to do things properly though I have upgraded to first class travel - one has standards after all. ? ? ! grin

callgirl1 Fri 05-Jul-19 17:19:54

Ellie is very pretty, a proper cutie!
Thank you all for your good wishes for my son, he rang a short while ago to say that he needs no more treatment. He has to have another scan at the end of August, but can officially say that he`s in remission. He says he rang the bell, LOUDLY!
Carillion, all my best wishes to your husband for next month.
Corner, glad to hear that the vinegar was helpful.
Galen, how`s your ankle today?
Soop, next time you pass through Muasdale, will you tell David about David junior please?

Charleygirl5 Fri 05-Jul-19 16:08:21

I cannot remember what mcem said- was it reported? What a bloomin' cheek if it was considering what was written elsewhere.

I have stocked up with food and ice cream so I am about to watch tennis until it possibly finishes today. I do want to see Serena and Andy play.

Ellie is another cutie and very advanced for her age.

TOYA

soop Fri 05-Jul-19 15:46:08

Nannyfaraway Ellie is bonnie. Very cuddlesome. smile

Tanith Your family photgraph is lovely too. What a handsome wee boy. smile

callgirl1 Please update us when you have further news of your son's latest appointment.
We said hello to David. Misty day at Muasdale.

Cariliion Not too long now before your husband has the treatment he needs.

anno that match was very entertaining. Rafa deserved to win. He is a gentleman. His opponent is something else.

We have a visitor pulling into the drive. I shall have to pause for a bit and return later.

annsixty Fri 05-Jul-19 15:11:56

Another beautiful baby ?

Nannyfaraway Fri 05-Jul-19 15:11:26

Hopefully you can see. I've managed to post a photo of my Grandaughter although not the best one

Nannyfaraway Fri 05-Jul-19 15:07:23

I have finally managed to sit down and post. Been out at a friends house now watching Wimbledon on Television.
Someone I can't remember who asked me to tell you a bit more about my Granddaughter. She is called Eleonor Ellie for short and is 8 months old. She can already feed herself and has learnt to wave goodbye. She tries to talk and loves looking at books. She is generally a happy baby but gets very frustrated when trying to crawl because at the moment she can only crawl backwards.
I will try and find a photo. Haven't got many on my phone as my daughter doesn't like too many on the internet.

dragonfly46 Fri 05-Jul-19 15:05:41

Just thinking about Callgirls son. I really hope his results are positive.

MawBroonsback Fri 05-Jul-19 14:52:45

I too missed whatever this was about but it seems that some people are able to get away with unkind and toxic comments and others who perhaps advocating taking no notice (“cold shouldering”?) are come down on like a ton of bricks. hmm

annsixty Fri 05-Jul-19 14:50:50

Is the blackballing comment referring to cold shouldering.?
I don’t think it is the same thing at all and feel dreadful that my own postings instigated this.
Please clarify Lara.

soop Fri 05-Jul-19 14:35:39

Hello LaraGransnet I haven't seen the 'blackballing'comment. I've been with a pal in a care home and need to catch up. This lot in the kitchen are thoroughly decent people. Any so-called bickering doesn't emanate from within our forum. I appreciate that you must abide by your rules. In future, we'll keep disparaging comments strictly non-verbal. Sorry about the lack of cake. Will do better in future. smile

LaraGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 05-Jul-19 14:19:24

Hello, sorry to poke our noses into the kitchen <looks around hopefully for the damn fine cake> but there was a post higher up (which we're going to delete shortly) suggesting that gransnetters get involved in 'blackballing' other users. Please be reassured we will not allow this. Any post that is reported is looked at in isolation and it doesn't matter whether a post is reported once or five times, we will only delete it if it goes against our guidelines or isn't in the spirit of Gransnet.
Happy Friday everyone. sunshine

NanaandGrampy Fri 05-Jul-19 14:02:33

Afternoon all !

Drove into the city to get both our separate EE phone accounts merged only to be told when we got there that you had to do it on the phone ( despite our trip came about because it said that you could do it in store online) . So we stopped for a cheer up bun :-) and a coffee !! Then came home and did it by phone.

Thanks for the opera cake Carillion I'm saving it for afternoon tea :-) . Cant have too much cake !!

Fingers still crossed for your sons apt Callgirl , hope its the best news !!

Your picnic sounds the best part grey . I'm partial to a good picnic.

Sorry to hear about your leg Galen , I'm a big fan of manuka honey ( not on toast ;-) ) . is the next cruise booked yet?

Well, I am in charge of emptying the indoor freezer and finding out what mystery packages we have in there …. I may be a while !!

On the plus side now Grampy will get my phone bill !!!

Doodle Fri 05-Jul-19 13:36:37

callgirl. Hope all goes well for your son this afternoon.

Thanks for the cake carillion. (if you find any missing it might have made its way to the Argy blush)

I also have lost the ability to do strike through since an upgrade. It’s really annoying.

Off now to wipe up the coffee splatters on my t shirt (your fault kitty for making me laugh on another thread)

Charleygirl5 Fri 05-Jul-19 13:02:45

Carillion at least you have a date for DH and it is not too far away.

I know full well what the secret ingredient will be, so thanks, I will steer well clear of your gorgeous food- anyway I am putting on too much weight and being a Wimbledon armchair viewer does not help.

Carillion Fri 05-Jul-19 12:26:12

Charlegirl, next time I send you a piece of choccy cake it will have a secret ingredient in it, I promise you'll love it!
DH operation is booked in during middle of August. ?
