Maw you are not alone. I hate Sundays although today we went for a cheese afternoon tea which lifted the mood a little.

The mood was even more lifted by the wonderful picture of Ruaridh. My DiL has been sending my pictures of my two DGC also this afternoon. It brightens the day.

Thanks dragonfly. Reminds me that it seems to be a while since we saw maw's littlest who's just a bit older than Ru.
(My week now includes a visit on Thursday to our local Citizen Kane club for coffee and biscuits and a showing of Yesterday!)

Hello Ruaridh, aren`t you a gorgeous young fella? I`m in the cuddle queue!
Ann, that`s very curious, but I`d probably be inclined to go with the majority, although, since my hubby died, I`m rather disinclined to believe doctors.
It`s been another warm day, but not as muggy, and there`s been a breeze all day, much more pleasant, hopefully tonight I`ll get some sleep.
Kitty, sorry about your BIL, glad there weren`t any other casualties.
TOYA!

Evening all, remember me....i don't seem to have made it in here for ages.. I’ve just ground to a halt after a particularly busy spell, all good things in and of themselves it’s just that a few too many of them all seemed to come at once! Have just waved goodbye to some very good friends of over 40 years standing, we really enjoyed having them with us for a few days. They are such easy guests to accommodate in every way and the weather was kind to us, which always helps.

Our church Flower Festival was this weekend, it did add a bit to the general busyness of last week but was a great event and much enjoyed in the town. This years theme was “I am”, depicted imaginatively by all involved. This included hundreds of paper plates, “I am creative”, beautifully decorated by local school children.

I heard a mention of chocolate, will leave some Malteaser Tiffin on the side, it’s deliberately cut in small pieces to facilitate 2nd helpings!

Well done to your boys, “n&g”, proud nana moment is definitely in order. I had one of those myself earlier when dd2 sent a photo our lovely 12 year old gd proudly holding a trophy awarded at her footie gala today for being “young trainer of the year”. kitty, your life sounds a bit too complicated with one thing and another. Hope you don't have to go off on a continental caravan mercy mission. Your poor gd Ann, what a time she has had, no wonder you've been so worried for her.

I’m really sorry, my eyes are drooping, tonight is not the time to try to remember who said what. Wishing you all a restful evening and a good nights sleep. I’ll leave you with some Flower Festival photos. X

Beautiful photos GrannyQ

cornergran Sun 30-Jun-19 20:50:40

Beautiful images grannyq which along with the adorable ruardih have done much to restore my equilibrium.

We’ve been with friends, known them for 32 years, and have come away saddened at the deterioration in both their health and approach to life. They feel very alone although family are close by. The spark has gone and it’s so frustrating not to be able to help them. I feel better now than when we left them, I guess the change was simply a shock.

I understand the enthusiasm-less, lethargic mornings maw, never know where mine come from, I deal with them by reminding myself that they pass. Hope you’re feeling lighter now.

Blimey ann what a kerfuffle for your granddaughter. Hope her Mum sorted it and you’re all content with the treatment plan.

Goodness kitty, your brother in law would try the patience of a Saint. He’s not being too sensible that’s for sure and no, don’t even think of rescuing his caravan, you’ve enough on your plate at home. Hope the doctor didn’t keep me Lester waiting too long and all was well.

I’m weary now, it’s been a long day so TOYA everyone.

PS soop should there be a chocolate crumb left I have been very good, promise grin.

My GD is home again after two more i/v doses of ab/s.
She has oral ones for 7 more days.
She is also to be seen re tonsillectomy after being told side effects may preclude.
We ate just plessed she is home. She is so much happier.
I have had a reasonably good day and may be in touch with a very good friend from childhood through her son on facebook
I have tried seversl times to contact her to no avail.
She left to go to uni and then her mother died , she went abroad to marry and now is back,
Bearing in mind we are both 80+ it is amazing we may be in touch again.

Charleygirl5 Sun 30-Jun-19 21:09:38

corner if sunshine is going in your direction, take a chair outside each day next week with a good book and enjoy it.
The odd trip out shopping and then back to put your feet up.

Seriously, that is sad if friends look as though they are going downhill rather rapidly. I know I forget my age.

I agree, Kitty you must not entertain the idea of flying to France to rescue that man's (using a polite word) jalopy and caravan.

TOYA - I am about to have an early shower and join Tara in bed to read my book.

Good morning all.
A really bad night and I am still in bed having a cup of tea.
It is grey and windy and generally unpleasant.
The good news is that I got a message last evening with a phone number to ring my old school friend and that has cheered me up.
Not heard from GD yet this morning but she was extremely tired last night so I hope she is still sleeping.
Have a good day everyone ,TOYA

NanaandGrampy Mon 01-Jul-19 09:36:43

Morning all,

What glorious weather we had all weekend. I didn't even switch on my laptop so I am playing catch up this morning with you all.

Glad to hear your GD ann is home but what a nuisance that the docs cannot agree on what is wrong with her. That would concern me too, and I think we need to push diagnosis back if we are not happy with them. Its very easy to just take it as a given that a doctor knows best and I am not always convinced that is the case.

Loving the pictures GrannieQ ! I love that sort of community stuff. A village nearby has a Teddy Bear week and people have made life size teddies out of straw and dressed them in themes, we drove through yesterday and saw the Teddy postman, vicar a cracking replica of the queen and many more. I wish I had had my camera to hand.

We had an unexpected visit from the little boys and there was much water , BBQ food and alcohol involved lol .

So I am off to tackle the laundry mountain that appears after a weekend with 4 extra people.

Ill catch up more later x

Sorry you have had a bad night Annsixty - still in bed with another brew sounds like a good place to be - and why not?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 01-Jul-19 10:17:21

Beautiful photos in the kitchen.

Annsixty stay in bed as long as you please.

Still warm in SE Essex, but we have a breeze.

I had an early doctors appointment this morning so I am rather ontop of things for a change. I have another month of Lansoprazole then if no change it's the dreaded camera down into the stomach. As much as I know I am being silly I am already panicking at the thought.

I am dragging my sorry a**e to the gym in an hour, really do not feel in the mood but needs must????

Shortbread and strawberries on the side, cream in the fridge!!

TOYA

Bellanonna Mon 01-Jul-19 10:32:57

Lovely to see so many pictures. Ruaridh is gorgeous and his eyes seem to be smiling. I’ll join the cuddle queue too, please.

tanith Mon 01-Jul-19 10:35:13

Oh my such lovely pictures that little one is so adorable, I see the kitchen is full of ups and downs as usual I’ve not popped in for ages but just wanted to mark today.

It would of been our 24th wedding anniversary today and I’m really feeling the loss of DH not sharing our day. I think the family aren’t mentioning it for fear of upsetting me but honestly it would be nice to talk about him today, it’s also his birthday on Wednesday so at least all my ‘firsts’ without him are in the same week.
I’m going to keep myself busy with ‘stuff’ thanks for this lovely place all of you ?

Bellanonna Mon 01-Jul-19 10:45:23

Oh Tanith this is a very hard time for you. You are right to keep busy but maybe phone the family too and let them know you’d like to talk about your DH. Thinking of you ?

Dear Tanith my heart goes out to you. Share your wish to keep your husband's memory alive together with your family. Sometimes people fear causing distress by discussing such memories. In fact, the reverse is true. Start the ball rolling...a special day is worthy of celebration, even though tinged with the sadness of loss. Open up your heart. flowers

soop Mon 01-Jul-19 11:56:14

Some lovely photos being shared in the kitchen.
grannieq the shapes and colours in your images are mesmerising. Fab! As we used to say.
N&G Oh HAPPY day! I hope to be reincarnated as a member of your family in due course. grin

GrannieGravy It is perfectly natural to not want a camera down into the stomach. I know how anxious I used to become prior to the procedure. It is worth remembering that, before you know it, it will be over and done with...this too shall pass. flowers

Bordersgirl No worries - as they say - I have saved you several pieces of chocolate. Come with me...wink

Ann Your granddaughter has been through a hellish experience. No wonder you feel restless. Please update us when you have further news.

For tennis fans...Yay! It's the first day of Wimbledon. I may skip shuffle off from time to time in order to shout my support and offer advice from my umpire's chair. No matter, I shall also be TOYA and not too far away from our kitchen. sunshine

Charleygirl5 Mon 01-Jul-19 13:39:34

tanith definitely a difficult week especially if your family are trying to help you by not mentioning DH. There is always loads of stuff to do!

I have watched most of Heather Watson's game and she did well- I feel I cannot sit in my chair for 2 whole weeks!

Ann your GD needs to have the opinion of the fellow who operated on her cleft palate. When she feels slightly better she could ring his secretary.

GG I think it perfectly natural you do not want a camera down your stomach or up your nether regions either!

Tara and I have been trying to move in permanently to N&G but we have not succeeded yet. Those two little boys are having a fabulous childhood.

I do hope the Panaches are okay.
TOYA

Keeper1 Mon 01-Jul-19 13:53:36

Hi, I am a newbie to this site I am so pleased to have found it. I am 63 and I have four grandchildren. I am currently off work due to having had to undergo emergency pen gallbladder removal. I am well on the mend though, but being off gave me the time to mooch around on the internet and find you lovely people x

Charleygirl5 Mon 01-Jul-19 14:00:34

Welcome Keeper!- as you may have read, we are rather partial to cake and chocolate so any crumbs are very welcome here. It may take a day or two to get to know us but I personally think it is worth it.

Carillion Mon 01-Jul-19 14:28:31

Hello Keeperl and welcome to this lovely, kind place. Hope you are recovering well, gallbladder ops are preceded by much pain so keep your chin up. Sending you some millionaires shortbread and a big glass of fizz...for when you're better, of course. X

annsixty Mon 01-Jul-19 16:00:51

I have had an hour long chat with my old friend , last heard of nearly 60 years ago, although I had sporadic contact with some members of her family for a few years.
The gears rolled by, it was wonderful, we hope to meet up sometime although she is not in the best of health.
It totally made up for a grotty weekend partly because of my GD but also because I have felt completely let down by a friend, who I thought was a good friend, of 45 years .
She suddenly seems to have no time to spare for old friends.
It is amazing really but not totally out of character, my H used to say of her, she never accepted an invitation straight away, she always waited until the last minute to see if she got a better offer!!
