Am I the only one?

I’m with CanadianGran, everything washed in cold water using laundry detergent designed for a cold wash, clothes always come out nice and clean.I suspect it’s better for the fabric too.

I wash clothes on 30 degrees. We change all our clothes every day, so nothing is dirty.

In summer, I change the beds twice a week, more if the weather is really warm, so they are washed on 30 too. Towels are washed after we (my husband and me) have used them, so 30 again.

The only things I wash on 60 are tea towels and dishcloths, which are changed every day of the weeek.

We do need that thumbs up button.

Haha gonegirl, when I double sock, which is often, I will wear the outer sock, which is usually a thick wellie sock, once or maybe twice again.

Yes, they pong but they will be shoved in a welly so no one will know.

I wash everything at 40 with non biological powder

I only wore my thermal socks for half a day yesterday, so I hooked them over a drawer and left them to air overnight. They seem fine today. (ponged last night though)

Does anyone do a sniff test on their laundry? Obviously not pants and socks...washed after one wear of course.

Fennel are you having a joint replacement? I had all that palaver before having my hip replaced 2 weeks ago. I think it's a bit excessive, but understand why they are concerned about infections and went along with it.
Usually I have very little truck with the modern obsession with obliterating germs. My washing is almost always washed at 30 degrees. My house is cleaned to an acceptable level (i.e. mine) I am 80 next month, am in excellent health and rarely get even a cold. I have raised five children who are all fit and healthy. Life's too short to worry about bugs, as long as you don't have medical problems or a weak infection threshold.

I just bung everything in at 30 as suggested by the washing machine booklet for mixed items. Use non bio liquitabs. 40 mins in dryer built in to the programme.
Somehow we've survived. What is supposed to happen if you don't wash everything at high temps?

Well my mum always said I was a mucky pup, and it seems I am.

My bedding is washed when I can be bothered, probably about once a month or longer.
I like the smell of our mucky bedding! (No there haven't been dogs on, they don't even come upstairs.) when I do wash it it will be on sixty degrees.

Dog bedding and towels get washed more often than ours. Husbands stonemasonry overalls get washed with dog stuff at sixty degrees.

Everything else at forty degrees, just shove in and hope for the best.

My whites are very white BusterTank, and I wash at 30 degrees with a biological liquid, but I only wash whites with other whites, and that’s why they stay white. Some people put everything in together and that results in grey whites.

Bedding, towels and tea towels / cleaning cloths ( kitchen and bathrooms) are washed at 60 degrees. All clothes washed at 40

I use biological washing powder and Bio Tex and wash whites and cottons at 60 and coloureds and synthetics at 40. I never wash anything at 30 nor do quick washes. I use oxy white directly on stains such as grass then soak as well. My dd tells me off and does quick washes and only washes whites at 40 I don't comment but they do not always look spotless. I also like to dry washing on the line which will bleach away minor stains. My dd tumble drys everything due to lack of time. When she was in hospital having second dgs and I was looking after elder dgs I boiled up all his white school shirts at 90 after soaking in Bio Tex first and got them a lot brighter.

I wash my whites on a 60 wash . Everybody comments on how white my whites are . Washing your whites on a lower temperature won't keep them white but more of grey . Plus you can't get stains out on lower temps ..

For all who are worried about these little critters it's quicker and cheaper to put the bedding in the freezer for an hour.

Bedding and towels are washed at 60°, and occasionally the white sheets get done at 90°. Most of my clothing (I often wear dresses) goes through a delicate wash at 30° followed by an extra rinse and full spin. Sometimes I will do more robust clothing in a "normal" 40° wash.

I don't use bio detergents.

This topic is a coincidence, because in preparation for an operation next Tuesday I have to shower using an anti bacterial wash, then put on clean undies etc and clean bedding. For 5 days. Which is a problem because we haven't got 5 lots of bedding.
We'll have to do a wash after 2 days, and I suppose it should be 60 degrees.

Try white vinegar. Add 1 cup of it to the rinse cycle. This is very effective for killing bacteria It is also an effective fabric softener, and helps to keep colours bright.

Everything at 40, non bio us Fairy pods, I'm allergic to bio washing products. I have a washer/drier no-where to dry outside any more , I do use 90 occassionally to stop any build up of lint around the heating element (as advised by engineer) , empty machine so no I don't wash on high temperatures.

The hottest my washing machine will go is 60 and I use this for towels and bedding, if it would go hotter I would use it for them only. 40 or 30 for everything else.

I wash everything except towels at 30 degrees, towels at 40 degrees. I use biological washing liquid for everything except wool in winter and I use an appropriate wool liquid for those things.
I don’t see the need to wash things at 60 unless you’re washing nappies, unlikely nowadays I think. If something has body fluids on ie vomit then I wash with the laundry sanitizer to eliminate bacteria.
