No food or toys were allowed into our school...anything brought ( 2ozs sweets for three pence) on way to school had to be diligently hidden from teachers. All found was confiscated and not returned til end of week!! I cannot for life of me imagine what teachers do these days with sweets, biscuits, toys, bottles of water?!? , mobiles ...all taken into school for the little precious ones in case they dare have to face 10 mins being denied sustenance. A little stoicism wouldn’t go amiss with a lot of kids. My kids and indeed now my grandkids do not take anything to school except their lunch boxes ,and no sweets allowed by parents ,or me if I’m doing the pack-up. They take no money either and no water bottles. The school provides water at lunch time if the child hasnt brought a drink with them,... the youngest’s school still has a working water fountain in the playground ...and the kids love using it!
