Although I love them, I never ever cook kippers at home due to the smell and DH's attitude to the smell grin

When we are staying in a(n) hotel, as we are currently, I always take the opportunity to indulge.

I was most surprised this morning when the woman on the next table came over and congratulated me on the really good job I had made of de-boning this morning's kipper.

I knew there must be something I would be good at.

Do you have a hidden skill.

I can touch my toes ! I also , so I’ve been told, make very good shortcrust pastry .

sharon103 Thu 30-May-19 16:22:09

I'm a very good detective when I need to be. grin
Menopaws, your recipe for yorkshire puds please. Mine are horrible and don't rise and so I buy frozen ready made but love homemade ones.

I can do an underwater handstand. Thought nothing of it and did it spontaneously one day at the swimming pool. The accolades of the GC made me delighted (secretly) so I now let it be my badge of honour. I'll settle for anything!!

My dog can manage to find a tennis ball to carry home on almost every walk...even found one on a quiet country lane. We take one with us but he prefers to carry a ‘found’ one.

I am so glad this isn't about all the skills we don't have.

Shizam Thu 30-May-19 17:05:12

I can wiggle both eyebrows and my ears, although not at the same time. Just tried. And can do a great Presley-style lip sneer. Agile face. Unlike the rest of me!

Bazza Thu 30-May-19 17:30:00

I can make a piece of thick grass shriek when held between my thumbs. I’ve not been able to teach my grandchildren to do it, much to their disappointment.

My sister is the only other person I know that can do it.

When I listen to someone talking to me I am quite good at hearing what they are not saying. If that makes sense.

widgeon3 Thu 30-May-19 18:52:43

Oh, all you talented people. Am trying desperately to think of some hidden quality that I could boast about
In my 80th year, am still fascinated by people... they approach me in the street to tell me their family history.......does that count?

Grammaretto Thu 30-May-19 18:56:54

I can get people winking! I just tell them that I can't wink which is true, and they all demonstrate their own ability or perhaps it's to show me how?

NanaandGrampy Thu 30-May-19 19:01:16

I can finish palmist any one of Grampy’s sentences even if I’ve just entered the room - we are as one lol

Wiltshiregrams Thu 30-May-19 19:11:11

Apparently I make the best toast and butter, according to my grandsons. Proud of that one.

Nannyxthree Thu 30-May-19 19:12:34

I can find things in the fridge or a cupboard which definately weren't in there when OH looked!

gillyknits Thu 30-May-19 19:33:02

I can whistle and hum at the same time!?

Grandmama Thu 30-May-19 20:42:58

I can make a stem of grass whistle by stretching it between my two hands and blowing (it sounds quite loud)

Also I can blow up a paper bag like a balloon and then bash it so it explodes like a burst balloon.

grannylyn65 Thu 30-May-19 20:51:17

I write very good comic verse

GeorgyGirl Thu 30-May-19 21:07:11

I always seem to be the only one in my family to be able to relax my eyes enough to 'see' 3D pictures!

Marmight Thu 30-May-19 21:17:22

I can touch my toes too; I just can't get back up again.... grin

NotAGran55 Thu 30-May-19 21:28:42

I can pat my head and circle on my tummy at the same time , in addition to wiggling my eyes and moving my hair back wards and forwards - not all at the same time I must add .

Jessity Thu 30-May-19 21:39:04

Hooray for such a feel good thread!

I can do the top digit of my fingers like Bradfordlass, raise just one eyebrow, touch my toes with hands flat on the floor and make a Yorkshire puddings (I’m a Yorkshire lass so it’s an essential).

Thank you kittylester for helping us all to feel so talented wink

I seem to have a special skill for identifying very nice, sappy cats.

Most of the cats I have selected have turned out to be sappy things that love spending time with people.

Our mechanic has a very nice, floofy cat (long-haired male). The cat loves attention and quickly learned that I am a sucker for a sappy cat. Now, every time we go to see our mechanic, Smokey (the cat) has to come and see me and ask if I will pick him up.

00mam00 Thu 30-May-19 22:22:19

I can also put a long piece of grass between my thumbs and make it whistle, GCs cant.

I can flare my nostrils.

NotSpaghetti Thu 30-May-19 22:55:27

I'm your go-to person in an emergency or crisis... can I count that as a skill???

CanadianGran Thu 30-May-19 23:02:56

Party trick... if you bend one corner of a piece of paper, I can pick it up off the floor with my mouth.

Also bend my arm around my head and touch the ear on the same side. I actually just tested this and can't quite do it... must practice more and limber up!

Also make a very popular apple crumble.

loving this topic! I'm so impressed with everyone!

I can here every one conversation when we are in a room or restaurant but still keep on track with what my husband is saying and answer him as well as listening to another 20 seprate conversation
