Well, the recent period of good weather prompted a mini flurry of Spring activity here smile

I shaved my legs (had to be done in the bath, can't do that "flamingo" thing in the shower) toenails painted (by MR P, he can get nearer to them than me, and as long as he has his glasses on and good lighting, the result isn't too bad wink

I even found and i*on#d my cropped trousers shock (after checking to see if they still fitted, of course, no point wasting energy!

So, so all ready and good to go!

Except it is now dull, overcast and a tad chilly................sad

lemon a poem and good advice - might try that myself ?

Pittcity Mon 27-May-19 07:52:14

Yesterday was my fault.
Too much sun on Saturday, consequently covered myself in high spf yesterday...result high winds and rain!

Pale limbs don’t look too great I know,
Who wants legs as white as snow
What you need to do,my love
Is buy yourself some self tan Dove.
( It’s Dove Summer Revisited....and is brilliant, gives a very natural look, no orange.)

Doodle Why, you’re a poet! Is it catching? I may have a go.

My CH has been off since mid March.
I like cool.
Hardly worn any jumpers over winter and can truthfully say that I've worn a coat/jacket fewer than 2 doz times since Christmas.

Doodle grin

We could be in danger of going from bad to verse!

Lilyflower Sun 26-May-19 15:25:23

Still using my double winter duvet and sometimes with a hot water bottle.

Still wearing my winter coat at times.

Still in vests.

Still have the heating on.

Brrr!

phoenix I jut had this vision of you in gallons of mucky water scraping away and all these hairs.....oh, I can't go on.

Phoenix of the pallid legs
Go back to wearing longer kegs
Of too much tan you must beware
Especially if your legs you bare

On milky arms and pale skinned face
Factor 50 you must place
Protection from the suns strong rays
Is what we’ve all been told these days

But if the fake tan route you try
Those in passing crowds will cry
“Her skin is fine and white as snow
But her legs a fiery orange glow” ?

I agree with Kitty .
There is big advantage about being older not to have to shave your legs.

phoenix Sat 25-May-19 21:20:20

Sparkly Sorry for the offensive word, I can assure you it is a rare event!

Doodle

Thank you so much for your rhyme,

So kind of you to take the time,

My trews come to about mid shin,

Brushing against my milky skin

Hairless, but a little wan,

Should I consider some fake tan?

Not orange, just a subtle glow,

To take the edge off, don't you know,

To overdo it is a crime,

Not ridiculous, just sublime!

SparklyGrandma Sat 25-May-19 20:52:15

Ironed, shock horror, pheonix ?

Doodle Sat 25-May-19 20:49:02

Sorry, not a patch on your ice cream ditty but the best I could do ?

Doodle Sat 25-May-19 20:48:32

Phoenix your crops are way too long
Your legs are short and somethings wrong

With trews too long your legs won’t tan
No sun gets seen, they’re pale and wan

Crops need to be up off the ground
Mid calf is best so most have found

What you will need to make it right
Is extra inches to your height

We’ll have a game of Tug of War
And pull and stretch you even more

Problem sorted, no longer too wee
We’ve stretched you out, you’re 6ft 3 ?

An ideal husband- one who paints your toenails! Good to go, Phoenix.....?

Pittcity Sat 25-May-19 18:40:09

Phoenix, it's fine by me as I caught a bit too much sun today!!

phoenix Sat 25-May-19 18:18:07

BlueSapphire have a look at Cotton Traders, their shorts may work as crops for you!

I'm 5'2, and their crops are just about ok, but would probably look better on someone taller!

BlueSapphire Sat 25-May-19 18:12:22

I need some cropped trousers, so will have to look at the M&S site for short ones as being only 5 foot nothing the 'normal' ones are full length on me. I put my winter clothes away on May Day bank holiday and declared summer. But I have yet to do my nails...although first day of wearing sandals today. And swapped to my summer 4.5 tog quilt first week in May too.

Good luck with your hip ok Greengran. I had mine done 4 yrs ago, in retrospect it was a walk in the park and I got my life back. Tip: lots of cycling on a static bike was a huge help, plus 5 months of physio.

I am getting the first new knee in a month:'s time. Putting on my hard hat I will say that a lot of the success is due to the wonderful French health service, no waiting lists and so.much help and assistance. Reason for staying in France for most of u s retirees.

Didn't buy any summer clothes last year and may not buy any this year except perhaps a couple of plain T-shirts. These days tend to buy skirts in charity shops - try to get good names and they look fine. Get fed up with trousers all winter so prefer skirts and dresses. A bit of nailvarnish on the toes, a bit of lipstick and ready to go..... with decent sunglasses which cover up a multitude of sins and are quite flattering. Ready in 15 minutes unlike the 60s when it took me most of the day - false eyelashes took about half an hour on their own.

Mic74 Sat 25-May-19 12:55:30

that's one of the reasons I want my bath reinstated. cannot do those little things in the shower.
