Delight

I love to open the bathroom window first thing on a morning and listen to the dawn chorus, beautiful.

Also it is lovely sitting in the garden on a tea time with a cup of tea just listening to the children playing in a nearby garden. Bliss.

I like to just listen to life going on, fabulous.

Watching a moor-hen teaching her chicks to be careful of canal boats. Seeing a duckling practically run across the surface of the pond to get back to his mummy when he saw my cat. Cat was on the lead, so he wouldn't have been allowed near said duckling.

Decorating the Christmas tree every year.

Praying Regina coeli each year from Easter to Whit instead of the Angelus.

The countryside in May. I have just picked a large handful of Aqualegias from my garden, then walked up the lane to scoop up a handful of cow parsley - we call it Keck in Northants - and together they look absolutely stunning.

Any time I see Wisteria growing over the front of a house.

My very tall 14 year old DGS coming in & pretending he can't see me as I am so much shorter than him ( I am 5,7"- he is enormous!)
One of our cats who just adores me & runs to meet me when I get in & then insists on a cuddle before I get my coat off.
Watching the birds on the feeders while I am upstairs ironing. Also watching our cats watching the birds knowing they cannot get near them!
My youngest DGS coming for a kiss when they arrive before being reminded.
So many things!!!!

My garden springing into life, being with my grandchildren. My cats. Sharing a FaceTime with my friend in Majorca who I only see once a year.

Watching a vixen sitting in the middle of our lawn and her 3 cubs frolicking around the garden in the evenings - a regular occurrence. The smell of wisteria and birds singing when I start my paper round at 5.30 in the morning. Bringing in the washing after a nice blowy day in the garden - smelling of fresh air.

I love seeing toddlers and babies playing and laughing. I have to tear myself away otherwise it looks a bit creepy.
DH and I were recently thrilled to see a kingfisher on the river nearby. Gorgeous.

All the above - birdsong, hugs & kisses from Grandchildren, the scent of new mown grass etc but my special pleasures are :-

The feeling of warm sun on my face.
Swimming in warm turquoise seawater.
Warm sand between my toes.
The sound of ice cubes clinking in a glass.
The smell of food sizzling on a BBQ.
Listening to street musicians.

yes I know - I need a holiday - what a good job i'm off to Barbados next week!

A field of wild flowers, being with friends or family.

The view across the water meadows from my window - constantly changing with the seasons, but always breathtaking. The sunsets are responsible for my standing at the window for so long that I smell the dinner burning!

Opening my window, years ago, one dark night and coming face to face with a beautiful owl. He was sitting on the sloping tiled roof, about six inches away, and gazed at me, unafraid. I backed away quietly and rushed to call DH; when we crept back the owl had moved off the roof was a silhouette on next door's TV aerial!

Like many of you I enjoy watching the birds in our garden but they are being a bit destructive at the moment. A female blackbird is trying to feed her very large 'baby' who is bigger than she is. He is giving her a hard time and she is frantically going through the soil, uprooting my seedlings in the process.
In another part of the garden we have a large planter full of strawberries and a great tit spends ages pulling out the coir lining. The greenfinches haven't left much for him though!

Oh yes the smell of washing having been dried outside

Watching the birds on my feeders & next doors bird table, lots of blackbirds & a robin around, I have coal tits coming onto my feeder & the other week a nuthatch.

Listening to the owls hooting at night, hearing the geese morning & evening overhead.

Walking round my garden & watching it bursting into life, part of my garden is covered in forget-me-nots at the moment, looks fabulous.

Driving around my local area on a sunny day, either on Dartmoor or towards the coast. Walking down the lane to the shop & being greeted with a smile & greeting from dog walkers etc

So many more I could list & that's without mentioning my family

Seeing our garden burst into bloom as a result of all DH hard work.
Watching a family of Great Tits fledging from under the roof tiles where they have nested.
Lambs gambolling in the fields with their mothers.
Finding a young Badger in our garden, even though it was lost and had to be collected by the wildlife warden. They are such beautiful, and feisty, animals.

A good football match

Watching the sparrows feeding their babies on the patio, they are so cute when they wiggle their wings to let the parents know they want food. Also knowing our dear eldest daughter who has been so unwell over the last two years( she has a congenital heart condition that has deteriorated ) and had a long operation 6 weeks ago to help her condition is now well enough to drive over to spend the day with us. next Tuesday.

My day was made by the utter joy on my five year old DGD’s little face when she saw that the seeds she’d planted have germinated

Seeing a dog running in the park. My dog died two years ago and I haven't replaced her. Used to love watching her run too. Poetry in motion!

All the cats & dogs I have owned over the years have been a delight to me. I too love watching dogs running & playing with their pals.
Our last dog died 2 weeks ago, but through him I discovered lovely walks in East London.
I also delight in a massive expanse of sky. We live near Hackney Marshes & we see the most beautiful sky patterns.
Really cheers me up .

So many beautiful things in Nature. They all delight me. What delights me most, though, is seeing my 2 year-old Australian granddaughter's face pop up on my iPad. "It's Grandma!", she always cries, then, "I'm eating my Weet-bix." We have a chat while they have breakfast and it's my bedtime. I haven't been over there since she was born, and will be visiting in November. She thinks that I live 'in the phone', so it will be quite a shock for her to see me 'in the flesh!'

The natural world mostly delights me. Today a pigeon stood on my window ledge and peered into our lounge for several minutes, seemed to be curious and taking everything in. I wonder what s/he was thinking. I lived in the country until recently. Early one morning I noticed a sheep on its back on the adjacent field, lamb next to her and mother not moving. I climbed over, she was still alive and so I got her back on her feet. When I had climbed back over the wall into my garden, she approached and bleated several times. I was really touched for I felt that she was thanking me.

The Robins and Blackbirds have kept me happy for the last couple of weeks,
