Oooooh I’m all excited now......

Urmstongran Fri 17-May-19 10:42:36

Enjoy your 3 generation holiday GG13 Bet the 4y old is SO excited to wake up to go on an aeroplane! I shall miss your supportive posts on the political threads (which, by the way, I am always well mannered in my posts - I hate the nasty responses but they are out of my remit).

Oh Maw you do sound flat. Do you think you may be a little depressed? Might it be a good idea to discuss your low mood with your doctor? The fact you have little joy in life might be an indicator?

Please don’t leave GN. You are one of my favourite posters. You are witty, clever and kind and would be very much missed.

Unkind (or nasty) comments are horrid and knock your confidence. I’ve had two like that directed at me and they really upset me. One was via a p.m. and quite shocked me. But then I am a bit of a mollusc!

Greetings from Norway.
The weather has been glorious. Of course I packed for cold weather!
I haven’t bothered to go ashore as I have everything I need on board.
I hadn’t realised how much I need internet, until this week!
You can’t get it up the fjords so I e been without for the last few days.
Don’t really want to go home!

Very wise words N&G I will certainly take them to heart.

I take no notice of the keyboard warriors - they must be lacking something in their lives and I know they would never dare say such things to your face.

Pleased you are feeling calm Swanny. I think the thing I take most to heart at the moment is a friend said to me 'it is what it is'. I cannot change anything and acceptance is much easier to cope with than worry.

MawBroonsback Fri 17-May-19 10:27:16

Thank you all - really kind! Lovely sentiment N&G.
I am planning to wash windows and use my lovely new toy - a Kärcher window vac thingy so that is sure to cheer me up.
It is true that activity is one of the best therapies - but I’ll just have a cup of cafe first!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 17-May-19 10:22:04

Nannaandgrampy

What a wonderful sentiment in your last paragraph. Much needed on parts of this forum ???

Swanny Fri 17-May-19 10:19:31

ann thanks for asking. I had the scan yesterday pm and could actually feel my legs shaking as I walked to the bus-stop. Silly I know and, despite the fact I won't get the results for at least a week (depending how soon I get a GP appointment), I feel much calmer today.

N&G wonderful sentiments in your last para to Maw flowers

TOYA

PS In case this comes up twice I think it disappeared into the ether the first time as my connection dropped (in the middle of a big city!) so rewrote it smile

annsixty Fri 17-May-19 10:14:55

I am going to take that advice to Maw and use it myself.
Thankyou * N&G*

GrannyGravy13 Fri 17-May-19 10:12:19

MawBroon I will PM you x

NanaandGrampy Fri 17-May-19 10:08:53

I agree totally about the GN outside the kitchen Maw it’s a bleak , bleak place with no space for lively debate that does not descend into the pits of hell .

No-ones point of view is simply respected for what it is , it must be destroyed and then the poster decimated.

So in the words of my grandad - don’t let the b@stards grind you down!

I’m sorry to hear the joy has gone out of your life but I think it’s a blip not something that will stay forever. One morning you’ll be watching young Finley explore this amazing world and you’ll find yourself taking joy in that tiny moment and then it will grow.

I think joy , very much like despair needs nurturing . So consider this a tiny pot of joy to pop on your window sill , water it with one joyous thought every day and before you know it you’ll have more joy than you can handle. Take cuttings and pass them round ??

Swanny Fri 17-May-19 10:06:25

Maw I occasionally scroll through other forums (fora?) and read anything that catches my eye, but am constantly amazed at the bickering and downright nastiness displayed by some GNers. I think some deliberately set out to antagonise and I'm left wondering 'Where did that come from?' I also feel some opening posts are designed to elicit that kind of response and envisage the originator sitting back enjoying the upset they have caused. However then I feel sorry for them, if that is all they have to do with their lives confused

Thank goodness for the kitchen (((hugs))) flowers brew xx

grannyqueenie Fri 17-May-19 09:57:59

Quick pop in, I’m chasing my tail and thus far the tale is winning! Lovely to hear better news from Panache. Good luck to those on granny duty! Wishing happy hols and safe travels for those going away, a lighter day for those with heavy hearts and speedy recoveries for any who ail.
After seeing maws comment, thought I’d attach this image, of course we all know this in this kindly space! As always toya, enjoy your day x

annsixty Fri 17-May-19 09:55:24

Swanny how are you?
You were concerned about a scan last week.
Better news about the Panaches for which many thanks.
Maw flowers this too shall pass.
To those going on holday or visiting, have a lovely time.
To those not well, hope things get better.
TOYA.

annodomini Fri 17-May-19 09:52:27

It's good to know that the Panaches are having the help they have long needed and that Pr P's pain is under control.
Maw, dinnae fash yersel! Those backbiters are nothing - cowardly bullies, the kind that punch you in the school playground and plead 'It wisna me!' You still have many good things in your life - all those lovely GC, wonderful daughters, Hattie and...us. These posters are mere blips and not to be taken seriously. I don't go on those threads because I can't be bothered with the hassle. I am thinking of taking up mindfulness - how about you?
Marydoll, it's good to see you back in action, though presumably taking things easy which tends to be my default state.
Have a great weekend if you're girding up your loins for the arrival of GC. I wish I was, but when they're older, they have busy lives at weekends as well as revision for GCSEs in the case of my DGD.

Swanny Fri 17-May-19 09:34:38

Have a wonderful holiday GrannyGravy sunshine party

dragonfly46 Fri 17-May-19 09:34:29

Brilliant news Panache so pleased things are now looking up. It is about time you both got the help you deserve.

Loved all the photos everyone.
I would post pictures of my DGC but my DiL is worried as it is so public.

That is a tricky one Topsy would the council build on your garden? I have never heard of the council viewing private properties before.

We are off to Cambridge today to stay with friends we have known for over 50 years. Typically DH's sciatica has reared its head again after our hectic trip to London and Brighton but hopefully they will understand.

kittylester Fri 17-May-19 09:31:06

maw, I have been finding gn, rather bleak of late too but without your reasons. Just stay in the kitchen a while.

MawBroonsback Fri 17-May-19 09:23:11

Safe journey and happy landings GrannyGravy - where are you off to? (Wasn’t paying attention ???)

MawBroonsback Fri 17-May-19 09:21:41

Thank you Marydoll it is ridiculous that total strangers can so blight one’s day isn’t it?
In the same way, you kind words are having the opposite effect flowers so thank you.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 17-May-19 09:15:33

Panache what a relief it must be for you both to finally receive the help you so desperately need.

Good that Mr.P is getting appropriate pain management.

Well kitcheners I shall be absent from this friendly supportive refuge for a while. We are off to sunnier climes with D and GC, unfortunately her partner is unable to join us due to work commitments and illness in his immediate family. Consequently I feel Mr.Gravy will partaking in a lot of beach games, swimming and mini golf. I have purchased some old school travel games (snakes and ladders, Uno, drafts) along with playing cards and a little book pre marked with noughts and crosses and the “box” game.

It will be GC longest flight (4 1/2 hours) hopefully as he loves planes it will be uneventful and with 3 iPads and a variety of story books and colouring we shall arrive cool, calm and raring to go??????

Will peep through the window wi-fi permitting.

Soop I expect you to rest and take care.

Annsixty take each day as it comes.

Nanna&Grampy enjoy your little ones and hope the dentist visit for Grampy is ok.

Kittylester enjoy Wolfe

Urmstongran get well soon, sorry I cannot support you in the coming week, I will try to look in.

Victoria Sponge on the side ???

TOYA???

Marydoll Fri 17-May-19 09:15:28

Maw, the backbiters are in the minority and we would never give them the time of day in real life!
It's so easy to hide behind the cowardly cloak of anonymity.
It is easy for me to say, just ignore them, but try and do that.
You are correct in saying they know nothing about you, you are in fact a much loved and respected member of GN, so don't give up on us, we would miss you.
You have always been kind and supportive to me personally and I would miss your interesting and amusing posts. Hang on in there.
flowers

MawBroonsback Fri 17-May-19 09:05:12

For no immediate reason I am finding life bleak at the moment.
I have had a decorator in papering etc my bedroom and new curtains are being made and it is looking lovely.
Why do I bother? It brings me no joy.
I had a lovely day a few weeks ago buying some linen tops at the Sahara pop up sale. They hang in the wardrobe and bring me no pleasure either.
The friendship I find in the Kitchen is something I would be sad to lose. But elsewhere GN depresses me with its backbiting and hostility. Who would have thought that someone who has never met me, knows nothing about me and to whom I probably would not give the time of day, could be so vitriolic in their comments? Why put myself through this? What is the point of it all?
So rejoicing in reassuring news from Panache and others whose courage in adversity puts the backbiters to shame, I will just say TOYA and wish you a pleasant day. ?

Bellanonna Fri 17-May-19 08:56:31

Panache , thank goodness you are both getting the care you need now. I’m glad your husband's pain levels are being managed better, and that you have the help you need. TOYBoth

NanaandGrampy Fri 17-May-19 08:54:55

Morning all,

Just girding our loins for the weekend ahead but first Grampy has the dentist ! I shall wait in the car as even sitting in the waiting room strikes terror into my heart ?

I hope you survive Wolfe’s visit Kitty !

Glad to hear things are improving Panache.

I guess it depends on how badly you wNt to sell Nannyt but bear in mind you take your memories with you and if you are now planning a move it is already no longer your house. I know how you feel , we were stunned when we thought we had sold our house to a family only to find they had bought it to let .

No ladders here for Grampy Soop after his spectacular fall from Grace a few years ago that laid him up for the best part of 4 months . I cannot cope with the role of Florence Nightingale again lol .

Well, I had better go and finish the prep for the arrival of my little boys, dependent on the weather we will either be going to Africa Alive tomorrow to their new exhibit HogSnorts OR the Norfolk Show to hug a micro pig, enroll Cooper in the llama racing and let Jackson quiz the vintage car owners !!

Happy day all.

kittylester Fri 17-May-19 08:50:41

X posts panache. It sounds as though things are a little more positive for you. That is good news.sunshine

kittylester Fri 17-May-19 08:45:59

Oh topsy! What a dilemma. The people who now live in our last house (3 story, 6 bedroom Edwardian semi) have extended it in all directions and it is now difficult to see the original. It is on one of our routes home from Loughborough and I go out of my way to avoid it. It is so depressing. I suppose the upside is that you could take all your lovely plants with you.

I hope your brother gets well soon.

Wishe us luck - we have Wolfie again this mor ing. We have almost recovered from last time. grin
