Soops Kitchen , kindness and cake served with love. Come on in !
(1001 Posts)Oooooh I’m all excited now......
Please dont take that in the wrong way we have had and still have some very serious issues in the kitchen and I shouldn't have been lighthearted about it.
I am off now to put my head in a bucket.?
ann, you are right to maintain friendships. I'm happy to call my ex-DiL my friend although the marriage has broken down and both she and my DS have new partners. I'm also friends with my ex's sister and her family.
Its a dreich day here and not as warm as yesterday. The weeds are flourishing as the lady who helps in the garden is unwell. The strangest sight is a very large shrub rose sticking out the top of an equally large cornus mas shrub. I originally planted them too close and now they seem to have a kind of symbiotic relationship.
Welcome Carillion if our dear soop was here she would be the first to say that, she loves new friends in her kitchen.
The whole of GN well mostly, is very warm and friendly but we regulars to the kitchen are particularly so.
You will learn all about us if you stick around and get to know our happy times and our sad times but especially about our illnesses? we love to share about those ?.
Hello everyone. I only joined the forum three days ago and it's taken me sometime to read around and understand what a nice place it is.
I have been a bit lonely since my DH wanted to fulfil his dream and move to Brittany -and I'm not complaining!...but realise it's been a bit quiet because learning a new language and being a Brit during Brexit has been a bit challenging.
Having said that, I understand that this forum has many already established friendships and I think that's wonderful and it's heartwarming to see how kind people are.
Don't know what else to say really other than it's nice to now have the chance to share in a caring and fun place.
Thank you! X
Dull, murky and to me chilly this morning.
I am going out for a pub lunch today.
Now you will have to keep up at the back, I am going with my exDiL and her current partner's mother who has come over to look after the two children 14 and nine while ex goes on a cruise with her patrtner to celebrate her 50th birthday.
I truly believe in keeping relationships on an even keel
The same cannot be said for my S but that is him and this is me.
Have as good a day as you can everyone, we are promised a 51% chance of rain.
It is a bit dull and murky here today. I have no idea if we had thunderstorms during the night because I would sleep through a hurricane. Tara was not bothered because she did not disturb me until after 7am.
I am meeting some GNs for coffee this morning so I must at least throw on some clothes.
Did you give DH a quick tap with the leg of lamb Grey? I think he may have deserved it!
Lovely roses - in this weather I might be tempted to cut them and enjoy them inside.
Very sad to hear your news Nannytopsy - my sympathies to you all. We have been through it here too; it’s very hard to bear.
Kitty lovely news about your DD and her partner! I wish them both great joy! I expect that is exactly what my DD and ‘sin in law’ will do if they ever get around to it (unless they’ve done it already; I wouldn’t put it past them!) but it’s only been twenty six years - plenty of time yet!?. Hope you get your roof sorted out soon. And please can you send your roofer up here - if anymore cement falls out of our ridge we will be needing one!
Corner we have had the same trouble with some of our pots and we can’t keep up with the water butt. We did have a little sunshine, but now it is persisting down again! And will be tomorrow. I did manage to nip out and photograph one of my roses which just opened today. It looked terrible last year, but looks lovely this. I hope it doesn’t succumb to the wet weather like the other one has done.
I am coming down with a bloomin’ cold, just when I least need one. I have a hospital appointment tomorrow and I said to DH “my nose will be blocked up by tomorrow!” He said “Well, the doctor’s not going to be too worried about that end is he?”
Thank you for your support, which I shall always wear....
I hope the Soops are enjoying their well deserved holiday.
Not sure if I will be able to look in tomorrow and there may be a new kitchen by then, so leave the door open a little, please. I’ll find you!
Might it be a fatty lump N&G ?
Or a thing like a spot caused by a blocked hair follicle?
Grace used to get these hard little lumps and I found it hard to leave them alone and then the lump would suddenly disappear.
You would want your vet to at least biopsy it wouldn’t you?
Poor doggie- I hope you are worrying about nothing.
Evening all ,
Don't worry Corner the sun left abruptly and now we have a severe weather warning till tomorrow sometime !! So good job we spent that couple of hours in the garden when we could lol
Sam has a lump on the top of his paw Maw, I thought it might be a tick, or an infected tick bite but its a solid lump. No sign of an entry wound and the antibiotics seem to have made it very slightly smaller. He's stopped worrying it , so at least we can take off the cone of shame. For now we're just waiting to see what happens as the next stop is surgery which seems excessive for what it is.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time dragonfly ! How was the food at the Ivy?
Time for a coffee and a very nice chunk of chocolate swiss roll ( a slice is not enough !!) - See you all tomorrow x
Very sad news Nannytopsy my sincere sympathies.
What is the matter with Sam, N&G?
A poorly pet is such a worry. Big licks from Hattie ?
As always the kitchen is a mixture of sad news and good news, but always a kind reaction.
If only......
TOYA xx
I’m so sorry nannytopsy, very sad news.
That sounds an excellent birthday dragonfly, not surprised you’re tired, good tired though.
Please no mention of sunshine and evenings sitting in the garden n&g. We had to physically empty some garden pots which were full of water today, the drain holes just can’t cope with the deluge. Hope the weigh in was positive.
A mix of news kitty, your roof sounds a major pain but how lovely to have a post wedding party to look forward to.
TOYA, be good everyone.
Nannytopsy, my deepest condolences to all the family. It all sounds very familiar, sadly. I lost both sisters and a cousin to this cruel disease. ?
Such sad news Nannytopsy and I send my sincerest sympathy to you and the family.Heartbreaking indeed.
We have just got back from a very exciting weekend. We went to a virtual reality/interactive show with DD and SiL - War of the Worlds on Friday night up in the big city. It was amazing. Then to top it all walked across London Bridge at night.
On my birthday we had lunch at the Ivy in Brighton with DS, DiL and GC on Saturday and on Sunday went to the upside down house near the 360 tower. Very strange to be in a house with the furniture on the ceiling. Will try and post a picture.
Now we are back to reality and a rest. It is surprising how tired we get these days.
Nannytopsy so sad to hear your news. It is always sad when someone dies but especially so young.
Ann also sorry to hear about your friends. We met some friends last week the same age as us and we all have something or other wrong with us.
Panache great to hear from you and that the move is going forward. It is lovely that you will be in your new place by the end of the month.
Sadly they didn’t get to the hospital in time but to be honest, she wasn’t conscious.
I hope we get some warm evenings soon - hardly sat outside for weeks.
Sorry to hear that awful uews grannytopsy.
N&G it could be a cancerous lump which is not necessarily painful. Hopefully Sam's vet has no doubt thought of that. That is the reason I agreed to have Tara's lump inside her mouth aspirated but hers turned out to be bloody. Naturally she will not let me near her mouth since. My job is to feed and cuddle her not to prod her little body. She is enjoying the warm, sunny weather and has vanished until 7pm tonight. I do hope that thunderstorms will send her home earlier if they come in our direction.
TOYA
Sorry to hear your sad news Nannytopsy ???
Nannytopsy my thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.
Morning all !
So sorry to hear your sad news NannyT !! I hope your family got back in time.
I'm not sure yet what will happen to Sam Charley , no kennels though, he's not that sort of dog. I suspect either my other daughter will have him or my sister . He will be well loved in either place but we do hate to leave him as he clearly would prefer to be with us.
His paw remains a mystery , he has an unexplained lump on it , which doesn't seem to worry him, now he has lost the cone of shame he hasn't returned to licking it and surgery seems a bit drastic for something that doesn't seem to worry him. So its a waiting game to see if it disappears or gets worse.
Yes Ann , we had a glorious evening, warm enough to sit in the garden until 8 ish , I'm hoping for more of the same .
Time to get my act to together as its that day again, I can only hope for a better result than last weeks increase . HOW did that happen ?? LOL
Happy day all x
That is really sad, topsy. Did your dd get back in time? Condolences to everyone.
Very sad news Nannytopsy
Sincere condolences to all.
Sadly my DD’s sister in law passed away early this morning. Such a vibrant young woman who will be missed.
