Louis Mountbatten was murdered by the IRA in the 70's. I had a feeling his name would have entered the equation somewhere. Very pleased about it and a tribute to the late Lord Louis.

It’s reported that Archie’s parents have chosen for him not to have a courtesy title, so neither Prince nor Lord. I like that.

I like the name too, though for me it’ll always be first and foremost the name of one of our cats!

It's not Archie Wales but Windsor.

I appreciate Charles is the Prince of Wales so it must come from him to his sons, but Harry Wales has Archie Windsor as a son. Hmmm.

The Queen is Mrs Mountbatten, with Mountbatten children..and she/they are of the house of Windsor. They do like to complicate things with names, don't they?

It's a bit trendy. There are lots of Archies about at the moment.

It doesn't sound very regal, but Harry's family will not be putting in the work that William and family will have to do in the future, so a departure from more aristocratic names is probably fine for them.

I dislike 'Harrison', but then read BlueBelle's post and the penny dropped - Harry's son.

My beloved grandfather was Archibald, always just know as Arch, never Archie!

Awful names.

Although Archie is a good old-fashioned name, I also thought it was a nickname for Archibald. I'm a bit surprised they wouldn't give a more formal name, then shorten it. I tend to think of farmers when I hear the name.
Oh well, he is a sweet babe and will grow into his name! Maybe he will be a famous gardener like his grandfather.

It's nice to see something a bit different. Could have been a really weird American name, which I probably wouldn't have liked so much. They are happy with it, their choice.

.........mmm! don't really like it, I do think the name sounds great on a woman strangely, Archie Panjabi, the British Asian actress, for example. On a male not so sure, particularly as it's short for Archibald and that's really horrible. Would Cary Grant have got anywhere with Archibald Leach for a moniker

I think it’s awful. I know diminutives are fashionable in some circles (though I wouldn’t have thought it was Harry’s circles), and I would find Archie tolerable if his full given name was Archibald - not that I like it. Give the child a proper name, call him by any nickname you like.
