...for what it's worth, from an electrician who was working at Windsor Castle, that MM had her baby yesterday and it's a boy.
I pooh-poohed the news but he said that he overheard a footman being told by a woman in the room next to one where he was working.
He said Harry being at the Marathon must have been to put people off the scent as the couple said publicly that they would not make any announcement until several days after the birth.
It remains to be seen whether he's telling the truth...hmm

Yawn, yawn, yawn
Hollywood publicity in action as others have said upthread.

Grammaretto Sat 04-May-19 08:54:08

He's cancelled his trip to Holland.....

My German visitor asked if we take much interest in the Royals. I replied that it's difficult to avoid.
My DS's birthday today. He was DS3. The midwife examined me the day before and said she was sure it was a wee girl.
He was just under 9lb.

I nearly flooded out the delivery suite when my waters broke
Maggie; Now there's a thing! My kettle broke today! sad Is that a sign for all the crystal-ball gazers to interpret? It's a posh Russell Hobbs too! , but now retired. grin

Beckett Sat 04-May-19 09:16:50

Anniebach - so you complain because she has disappeared for so long but then say there shouldn't be daily bulletins! I have no interest whatsoever but I do wonder how people can have such an intense dislike for a woman they have, presumably, never met and the only information known about her is what has been published in newspapers (and we all know how accurate newspapers are don't we).

Anniebach Sat 04-May-19 09:25:51

Beckett when has any member of the Windsors when pregnant has made an announcement to say they will be no
Announcement?

Beckett Sat 04-May-19 09:33:15

AB No idea - I don't take that much interest in the lives of people I don't know

Grammaretto Sat 04-May-19 09:45:39

Ah but Beckett why do you tune into GN if you are not interested in the lives of strangers?
The media know a thing or two about human nature.

Beckett Sat 04-May-19 09:55:00

Grammaretto to read interesting discussions not to slag off a woman who is not only having her first child but is also have to deal with moving to a new country and into a lifestyle she is not used to.

Anniebach Sat 04-May-19 10:04:45

Harry is certaintly use to the lifestyle, would it not be sensible for him to teach her the ropes ? It worked well for
William and Kate.

Beckett Sat 04-May-19 10:14:58

didn't Kate receive a slagging off at first - remember "waity katie" and comments about her background

BlueBelle Sat 04-May-19 10:36:59

If I was Harry I d emigrate from all this public shit and leave them all to it I think it’s awful it started as a bit of teasing fun but has descended into 7 pages of real cattiness and bitching I don’t understand what the girl has done to everyone to amass such vitriol

Grammaretto Sat 04-May-19 11:25:44

I mustn't have read it all BlueBelle
I thought this was a jokey thread.
I doubt if their highnesses will be checking it out anyway.
I think there was talk of the couple going to live in Africa.

Anniebach Sat 04-May-19 11:38:50

Not cattiness, I admit attention seekers irritate me, and attention seeking is what so many actors do.

I like tradition , if it works why change it,

Miep1 Sat 04-May-19 11:57:17

RUFUS2 sorry, my mobile doesn't tell me how to do bold, my housemate/best friend, luckily on exactly the same wavelength, has had to leave the room on occasion when I am speaking to various people...they take my words at face value, she knows better. Vive Barry Humphries - or was it Clive James?

BlueBelle Sat 04-May-19 12:44:09

grammaretto I thought it was jokey and that’s why I joined in but then it turned into a let’s have another go at Meghan thread which is horrid she’s wrong if she’s in the worlds eye she’s wrong if she’s out of it if she holds his hand she’s needy if she didn’t she d be cold I feel incredibly sorry for her I think they should both find a country to live and be happy in away from all the bitchy press and sour people
I hope they do go to Africa to live and work people would be appreciative and a lot kinder there

Why can’t people just be happy for a young girl and her husband having a first baby

breeze Sat 04-May-19 13:23:25

Maggiemaybe I wish she would hurry up. I'm running out of gin shock

Annie my son is an actor. Come to think of it he is a complete attention seeker grin

Rufus good excuse with the kettle out of action to have a G&T. My kettle works but I don't want to wear it out. Hope you're not boiling a pan of water on the fire as I type smile

Whilst I think any pregnant woman is due some respect and privacy; I also think if you sign up to be a member of the royal family, and your life style is paid for by your 'subjects' smile you have to show a little respect back and know that they are interested in what is happening to you. You can't have it both ways. The same goes for actors. You know if you go into the profession and court publicity for your work, you're going to get people invading your privacy. If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen and go be a greengrocer or something. Public interest can't be switched on and off to suit you.

Anniebach Sat 04-May-19 14:10:11

BlueBell she is not a young girl, she is a worldy woman 3 years off 40. I am not being unkind , I do believe she knows how to play the game , she knows how to manipulate the media. There wasn’t any announcement from William and Kate , she was pregnant, she was in labour, they had a son/daughter/son, stood for a few minutes outside the hospital then silence . She and William respected the fact that there were many people waiting to see the babies , just as there are many people who turn out to greet them when they make public appearances. It’s all part of ‘the job’ .

Gonegirl Sat 04-May-19 14:13:49

Some of these posts sound like that thing that I can't remember the word for now. You know, when you judge others by how you would feel yourself.

kittylester Sat 04-May-19 14:15:22

I agree annie. Its part of the deal, I think!

Grammaretto Sat 04-May-19 14:16:50

I think the point is they aren't bothered by all the speculation and rudeness. It's par for the course for them.
It's us who get hot under the collar, fret and take potshots at each other, not them.

breeze Sat 04-May-19 14:21:24

Anyone know where Jamelia is? I like her posts and just realised I haven't seen her online for a bit.

breeze Sat 04-May-19 14:27:24

Grammeretto they should be bothered. Our Queen is an incredible woman who seems to fully understand that she was born into privilege and although some things remain private, she also understands you cannot hold that position of privilege and ignore your people.

Sadly, some of the younger royals do not have that good ethic.

A good example of 'entitled' that applies to a lot of young people these days.

breeze Sat 04-May-19 14:28:33

And yes, before I get jumped on, she didn't handle the Diana thing well.

kittylester Sat 04-May-19 14:29:14

jalima is around breeze.

breeze Sat 04-May-19 14:31:04

Someone say something funny shock even I've gone all serious. Help!
