Christopher Nolan - Director of the dreadful (imo) Dunkirk.
"Best known for his cerebral, often nonlinear, storytelling, acclaimed writer-director Christopher Nolan was born on..."
This (above) is why many people feel they have to fawn and critics give rave reviews. Heaven forbid they don't know greatness when they see it....
I thought the film didn't do justice to the event or people/heroes of it. And as for the soundtrack drowning out everything..
Why was LaLa land so hyped up? That was a bit of a damp squib too imo. A real non-starter.
I didn't feel much for the Greatest Showman either. It was OK, but quite schmaltzy imo, and intended to appeal to a younger audience. I have friends who rave about it. Hugh Jackman is always watchable imo.
