Shameful confession!

I don’t think I ve ever watched a film more than the once it has never ever entered my head to go again as I already know the story from the first visit why would I ?

I have not seen it and don't feel the need to

The best feel good musical film ever is Calamity Jane it's just crammed full of brilliant songs and a great innocent storyline. It doesn't matter how fed up I am, that film cheers me up every time. I'm taking it to my desert island with me!

Not only have I not seen this film, I’ve never heard of it. I’ve never seen Titanic or The Sound of Music either. Never lived in a town with a cinema or theatre and haven’t ever felt deprived. I love a good novel but don’t like a story dramatised.

Seems like I'm hard to please - I didn't like The Lion King either I did love Jersey Boys, We Will Rock You, Billy Elliot and the wonderful Miss Saigon.

Oh, how can you not like It’s a Wonderful Life! It’s essential Christmas Eve viewing!

I know it's not a musical but everyone in my family loves It's a Wonderful Life" but I don't like it. They all cried at "Up" but not me - and I cry at anything and everything!

Bradfordlass, I confess until you mentioned Barnum, I had no idea wat TGS was about.

I am not a film goer, once every couple of years and I never even considered reading 50 Shades of Grey. I knew from the start that it wasn't my kind of read.

I dont know how the 50 shades hype started!? I think it must have been on the coat tails of the twilight hype?

geatest showman doesn't appeal to me. neither did la la land, mama mia and several others including titanic and that indian hotel film.
don't intend to watch any of them even if they come on to sky movies (ok i know some of them have already).
they're just not my sort of film.

I couldn’t agree more Bradfordlass with both the Greatest Showman and bohemian Rhapsody I was expecting the story with music not just a glitzy adult Disney razzmatazz fairy story I like some meat on the bones

The thing about both films and books is that people go to see the former and buy the latter without being aware of the content.
So how can one truly gauge popularity by that?

If there's enough hype, people will buy into anything - doesn't mean they enjoyed the product.

I found TGS so far from the truthful history of PT Barnum himself, and the way the film was put together with modern concepts, rather than accurate contemporary Victorian attitudes, entirely false and 'Hollywoody'

So although I watched it to the end (had to, was writing a review) I didn't like it at all.

I had to be fair in my review and point out that 'truth' is (hopefully) found in documentaries, rather than schmaltzy fictionalised movies.

I watched LaLaLand on a plane and gave up after 20 minutes, but I loved the Pitch Perfect films which were great fun.

My DGDs watched The Greatest Showman ad nauseam and try as I might I couldn't stay awake!! Our choir sings a great arrangement of 'A Million Dreams' though, which sounds good (we don't screech). As for Jenny Lind, voice of a nightingale .... more like a corncrake!!

So many people raved about Les Mis I tried it and hated it but the TV series without the awful songs was excellent. I'm not that keen on Abba but for some reason enjoyed Mama Mia (the first one). It might have been because of Meryl Streep but it was mindless feel good entertainment, apart from Pierce Brosnan (cringe - fingers in ears).

I took my DGDs to see the Lego 2 movie last week and had no idea what was going on until the human mother appeared. I had been through the same scenario that very morning (fighting siblings and banning the lego!) Then she compared stepping on lego with bare feet to childbirth. Yes, yes, yes, I got it!!! Sorry for the spoiler but I'm sure most of you won't see it, or want to see it.

I couldn't get into la la land either .I did try hard (on two occasions)..but I couldn't get interested enough to watch it

I thought Mama Mia was complete tosh, Lala Land a heap of ordure and struggled to see any merit in The Greatest Showman or Les Mis. Couldn't make head nor tail of Space Odyssy and Wicked sent me to sleep, thankfully. Perhaps I am just odd, because I could never stand Bruce Forsyth, Morecambe and Wise or Ken Dodd.

I`ve only seen 2 musicals on stage, Phantom and Mama Mia, absolutely loved both. Am booked to see Les Mis in July, hoping to enjoy it.
After all the hype and praise for Dunkirk, my daughter bought it for me, but I was bored rigid.
One musical film that I have watched numerous times, and still love, is The Jazz Singer, starring Neil Diamond. I never tire of it.

Watched Greatest Showman on the plane because a friend had said it was so brilliant, I thought the choreography was good, some of the songs were good but still found it a chore watching until the end. Another friend once recommended Eddie the Eagle ( yes I know it's not a musical) and I really didn't fancy it, but watched it on a plane because I promised I would and absolutely loved it.
Favourite live musical is Jersey Boys, but also loved Notre Dame de Paris which unfortunately had such a short run. Sister Act is great too. I like musicals but do feel a stage version will almost always outstrip a film version. Never seen Les Miserables and really don't fancy it at all. Not read 50 shades, life's too short to waste my reading time on badly written tosh.

Absolutely hated Greatest Showman - only watched it because DGDs brought the DVD to watch in the school holidays. What a load of rubbish....
Loved Les Mis, both the musical and the BBC series.

Loved La La Land the first time I watched it, so when it came onto DVD got a copy and watched it agsi . Hated it !
Stopped watching and gave the DVD away.

I couldnt read 50 shades, so badly written, and I usually LIKE trashy novels.

LOVE singing in the rain. HATE mama mia, I mean despise it to an irrational degree. Am neutral about frozen, it was everywhere a few years back so I just decided to embrace it I suppose.

Dunkirk doesnt appeal, neither does la la land.

I hate Charlie and the Chocolate factory (and all Rold Dahl actually) both the old and the new version, but quite like the new Alice in Wonderland which is odd because its so similar to the new charlie & chocolate factory.

Am not a big disney fan so surprised myself when I was blown away by the beauty and the beast stage show! I was mesmerised by how the live actors moved just like cartoon characters! Loved it!

The only proper Ballet I have been to was Nutcracker. Most tedious couple of hours of my life.

I also hate panto So am not quite sure where my tastes lie on the low/high brow spectrum LOL

I enjoyed Wicked. Not enough to see it multiple times but enjoyed the show.

I hate Les Mis. Its just "yack". Its the most "luvvie" show on earth... but then so is Cats which I LOVE

I like phantom. I HATED Lion King.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what I enjoy
