7pm and the Bra is off.....

*Ready meals *Your painful ribs sound like costochondritis, which I get occasionally. It usually affects your ribs by your sternum, but I get it all round my ribs. It is apparently quite common in older people. Mine comes and goes every need months.

I have rather large boobs (even though the rest of me is OK) so I'm actually more uncomfortable without a bra than with one. I get a bit raw underneath if I don't have one on. ?

Eight years ago I had a breast reduction. I went from 38J to 38C. Unsurprisingly, I had developed curvature of the spine and my GP suggested the op. It was a major operation and I was in hospital for 11 days due to blood loss and continued bleeding which was being drained.
A painful episode but so worth it.. I lived in France at the time and the hot weather was torture for me before my op. Afterwards the relief made it all worthwhile. I hardly wore a bra after that as the surgeon( a Professor of Surgery)had done such an excellent job. I still silently thank him when the weather is hot or I am trying something on that actually fits.
Having said all that I still love the feeling of taking my bra off in the evening,( started wearing a bra again when we returned to UK) so liberating!

I too do not wear my bra indoors. I just hate bras and why should I worry when at home alone?

Used to have bra discomfort in the evening, but taking Starflower Oil for breast pain completely fixed that. I can't wear underwired types, but something like the Berlei non-slip, and taking out the boning pieces in the sides, and I don't know I am wearing one, except for the better shape in the mirror!

I have always been rather well endowed in the boob department, as a teenager used to wear jumpers and tops two sizes too big to hide them. Back then there were only standard size bras, and none of them fitted me - I really thought I was deformed. When proper cup sizes began to appear in lingery shops it helped. Back then I found a small back with a double D cup worked well.
Having given birth to and breast fed five children and with advancing years, they are much larger, (as is the rest of me), but with a very much southwards pull. Bra wearing is an essential for me - I have always so envied women who have tiny breasts and do not need to wear such items.
However, around 6- 7 every evening, I do put on my nightie - underneath that I wear a soft pull on bra. Even at night I cannot really go without some support, however minimal.
Yes, I also like to wear nighties, not PJ's - find these more comfortable and also better to accommodate my stoma bag.
My children all know that Mum is in nightie and dressing gown by 7 pm every evening (even when I visit them I still do that).
Think I am entitled to that lovely comfort each evening. Supper things all washed up, breakfast tray laid for morning, me in soft bra, nightie and dressing gown in my lovely electric recliner armchair with knitting to hand.

I can't wear them since my surgery so I wear swimming costumes under my clothes. Not the supported style the sports style. I find them so comfy and also help to reduce the bulges under my clothes as they give me a little bit of control around the midriff.

As for the loo, I just pull to one side. I must own around 12 of them in different colours. Easy to wash also as I tumble them although it says not to. And they last and last.

Me too! And now I’m older often don’t wear one all day if not going out to meet up with friends

Once I am indoors and don't have to go out again that day off it comes and on go my comfy PJs what ever the time of day I have some "day time PJs" and "night time PJs" all with loose baggy tops so I am not constricted in any way.Total bliss

I love putting my pj's on between 7-8 - not so much to take my bra off but to get my jeans off. They are mostly comfortable during the day but come evening my legs itch, the waist is too tight and my legs feel cold. Cosy jammys, warm dressing gown and that feeling of all restrictions gone - pure bliss!

My old gran thought so highly of her bras that she used to hang them from the mirror of an old dresser near the front door so that visitors could see them.

I can't wear a bra any more, I seem to have something wrong with my ribs they're really painful to the touch so if I do wear a bra I have to have it too loose to really do any support anyway.

I havent worn a bra since retiring from work four years ago.... I wear tight cami or t-shirts....hated bras from day 1 of wearing them at 15...never saw the reason for being trussed up like a chicken ready for oven . Gone for good...let alone the 7 pm deadline. Free yourself ladies .

My problem is that I seem to have abnormally slippery shoulders

Oh me too anno I adjust the straps so they are nice and tight and within half an hour they work themselves down . I am forever hoiking them up !

I am just the same. I bought some soft sleep bras to wear in the evening- I am not comfortable without anything.
It only started about 6 months ago- very annoying although I notice that if I am out I don't notice it so I think it may be that I am slumping on my lovely comfortable sofa that is the problem.

Our back garden is very secluded I often hang the washing out or bring it in, in the nude if you think how nice it feels without a bra it’s bliss with nothing on at all. My birthday suit is the best one I like to wear.

Suffering badly from pollen count, bra makes breathing difficult so not wearing one, not good when you are 44dd no support but now I am folding arms and let them take the weight,must look a sight

Mine is of long before 7pm.
In fact I only wear one if I need to.

Don’t wear one at all if home all day.
I am not big busted, so don’t feel the need for one.
If I can get away without one, then I will.
Feel very restricted wearing one all day.

I’m with blondiescot I don’t wear one unless I’m going out and even then sometimes in the winter when I’m wearing several layers I might venture locally without one.

Recently, mine is off when I am no longer going to be in ‘company’! If I am not going out and just gardening in a day, I garden with the boobs ‘running free’. I don’t think bras proved so uncomfortable when I was young (even though I had cheaper wired bras), maybe it’s to do with the tissue changing, but they have become a garment that I’m often bothered by!

annodomini - have you tried a racer-back style?

DanniRae I'm a "Prima Donna" fan. Always expensive (currently £40 in the sale at Figleaves) but could be 70- 100 otherwise.
BUT I can wear them all day and evening and fit me better than anything else. They keep everything in place with more style than most.
Would rather have my perfect bras underneath inexpensive clothes than struggle in ill-fitting underwear.
One of mine is maybe 6 years old and still in reasonable condition.
I do always hand wash them though.

I have hated them all my life! Mine is certainly off by 7pm and PJ's on. You are not alone. Infact I dont know any of my friends who enjoys wearing them either. My mam used to say that if we come back on this earth again she was coming back as a MAN! No bras! x
