Resisting chocolate!

It's all done and dusted - don't worry about things that you cannot change because the time has gone. Just control it next time if you feel you have to over indulge and think about how guilty this time made you feel.

My DH used to be the same DanniRae. I have seen him eat a packet of 5 doughnuts - no he's not a greedy slob, just has a very sweet tooth. He has never been even a pound overweight. No running or exercise either. However, type 2 diabetes has been the price to pay and he rarely eats anything sweet now.

From all your replies I realise that I am not alone in my love of chocolate.
I think my sister-in-law has the answer.......she loves chocolate and eats loads of it whilst remaining very slim. How you may ask? Well she also runs regular marathons and trains hard in between!

I've managed to get down to one 'after eight' every night.
I really savour it,finding just the one really is sufficient.
This is the first year that I haven't eaten an easter egg.....
(only because I have two weddings coming up and can't fit into my frocks!)

No one wants to be a martyr so just enjoy it. It only happens twice a year, Christmas and Easter so is not going to do you any harm.

Our DGS left yesterday and their parents didn't take all the eggs from the egg hunt because they don't want the children to eat too much chocolate so someone is going to have to eat it! DH and I will enjoy some in the evenings and worry about it afterwards. Oh and we still have some cake to eat too.

I never buy chocolate but I won an Easter egg in a raffle and ate it all on Easter Sunday because I was left alone with it! I cannot be trusted with chocolate and should not be allowed near it.

I used to be able to just have a small piece and be satisfied to put the rest away for another day, but lately I can’t! I had a chocolate chicken on a nest with little eggs around it. I ate all the little eggs the other day, and last night I intended to have a bit of the nest, but ended up eating the lot. Then later I had a Fry’s Peppermint Cream! ? (Well I am a pig in the Chinese horoscope!)

I'm exactly the same morethan2 there is no situation or mood for me that is not improved by chocolate. Salad and fruit do not have the same effect, I only wish they did.

I love chocolate, the only reason I don’t eat more is because I’d be sick. I too eat it mainly in the evenings why is that? I’m not saying how much I ate yesterday because I’m ashamed. I eat it if I’m upset, I eat it if I’m worried, eat it when I’m tired or bored. Funny enough I never eat it on holiday and I don’t miss it. So it can’t truly be an addiction. I’m just weak willed

We bought two eggs for a friends children before we went away for Easter, but forgot to take them with us. We had to buy more when we reached our destination.

We came home and within three days the chocolate eggs and their contents had been eaten, enjoyed by us both bit by bit on coffee breaks! They'd have only gone to waste otherwise.

I could wring my hands about being weak-willed but I shan't. I enjoyed them, so did OH. We have no chocolate , cakes or biscuits in the house, so they were unexpected sweet treats.

Today is a new day.

I was bought an egg, half of which is still in the fridge and I couldn't eat the half in one go.
I am not at all bothered about chocolate. Now wine gums or midget gems are another matter entirely !

Oh dannyray I am so weak willed. Not only for chocolate but for food that I really enjoy. I very seldom say “oh that’s enough thank you”. It’s usually another roast potato, more chips, more biscuits. I love jelly babies and sugary sweets. I am not hugely overweight but have quite a small build and find most of my weight piles on round my hips and thighs. I have decided to cut back every day this week and see if I can lose some weight. I have 2 squares of dark chocolate and one chocolate covered ginger after dinner with my coffee and am sticking to that this week.

I was diagnosed with diabetes in January but vowed to eat a single (as opposed to a six pack!) Cadbury's creme egg at Easter. After the months of sugar-free/low carb stuff it was absolutely delish! Thankfully one was enough and I haven't felt tempted to further indulge.

There are lots of things I can't resist but chocolate isn't one of them. Don't get me wrong, I like it but it's things like cheese, bread and wine that are my downfall.

I ate mine in one sitting last night! It was delicious and I enjoyed every mouthful . Today I am back on my SW diet.

I think it’s far more important to eat what you enjoy , do it without guilt and then get back to more healthy habits. Life is too short to give up chocolate totally ??

I had two given to me. They were each consumed in one sitting even though I had to force the last few bits down. And yes, I had the self loathing that inevitably followed.

But if I had a third, I would be starting on it about now.

Why feel guilty unless you are eating it by the ton?

Golly, you are very well behaved in my view! I have no trouble devouring a whole egg on my own

I am quite fond of chocolate too, but if I am going to eat it- and not feel 'guilty' then it has to be the best quality 70% real chocolate (and not the sugar and palm oil mix most Easter eggs are made from).

Throw the rest of first egg away, give the other away ;) what is done, is done.

I know what you mean. Don’t be disgusted with yourself, you hadn’t eaten all of it, that takes some doing. Remember, you need to take your actions in hand and amplify the positives. (I would have eaten the lot and then felt guilty!)

I was much, much worse! I spent years buying my children's Easter eggs in advance and eating them before Easter, replacing them and eating them as well......I just could not resist and eventually had to resort to buying them as last minute as possible. At least you ate ones meant for you!

I'm so smug. Apart from tiny bits handed me by the DGC I have managed to resist. Even the best chocolate eggs don't taste as good as they used to.
