Resisting chocolate!

I can't buy even bread/buns or fruit in advance let alone sweets/crisps etc.This even applies to breakfast cereals. I have to buy on the day a few hours before guests arrive. Sadly I had to give money inside an Easter card to the GC. I have to shop daily, still walking is good.

I think I might have sickened myself of chocolate. Result!

I was the same but managed to break out of the habit by distracting myself with something else. I still give myself the rule of nothing sweet after lunch, only fruit and I allow myself 4 squares of chocolate at night. Needs will power at first but now it’s just normal. Will still have pudding etc when I’m out though!

When I am given chocolate I eat it all very quickly & I enjoy it. Then I can get back to normal.
I have half a box of white chocolate Lindor balls to finish tonight & then I am all done. Yum!!

I ate a full bar of the new darkmilk chocolate last night its so good.

I’m lucky ....think I maybe the only person I world who doesn’t like chocolate. My failing is crisps ...so I just dont buy them. Your daughters should’ve known better than to buy you the eggs in first place if they know you’re always fighting the temptation. Could’ve bought you a book token or cinema pass...or taken you out to lunch.

Like you I try not to buy them but fortunately DH does most of the shopping. Also I am very fussy about chocolate so I am not tempted unless it's dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa solids and no nuts or fillings. Most of the Easter eggs etc are milk chocolate so I leave them alone.

I tried eating white chocolate too as I've always liked Milky Bars but I found it became very sickly and I can only eat it in small amounts.

Boxed chocs are really awful except Guylian shells!

Nah! Life is too short for guilt. We won’t lie on our death bed thinking “I wish I’d eaten a bit less chocolate” or “I wish I’d lost that extra 7Ibs!

Why feel guilty? It's not like you do it every day is it? A bit of what you fancy does you good (even if it is a whole easter egg) Personally I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's once a year so what. I hope you enjoyed it. I certainly enjoyed mine with no guilty afterthoughts.

As a chocolate lover who lost 6 stone I recommend you allow yourself a small, portion controlled amount of chocolate every day. Not easy with an Easter egg but once they are gone buy some of the funsize bars and allow yourself one as a treat everyday. I have mine with my evening cuppa. This worked for me. If I had told myself no chocolate I would have wanted it even more!

The awful thing now is that all those pricey Easter eggs in the shop have been drastically reduced in price - it would be a sin not to buy them! However, if I eat chocolate in the evening I sleep terribly so managed to resist the (really cheap) eggs in Sainsbury yesterday and will have to stick to my 10 - 6 diet without chocolate.

Didn't buy any Easter chocolate. However, saw Chocolate Hot Cross Buns in Aldi yesterday and bought pack of four. Thought they were the ones with chocolate chips - no, they are what they say - hollow moulded chocolate hot cross buns. What am I going to do with them ? .... oh yes, I know

I feel a bit better now knowing I'm not the only chocolate scoffer. I finished off the big bag of Easter chocolate last night that my friend gave me and I have a big Galaxy egg and a choc buttons one upstairs. Well, half of a buttons one to be honest. At about 11 pm I fancied some more chocolate so I fetched half of the shell to eat while watching tv. I might pop up in a minute for a bit more

Went out to the shop looking for a box of grass seed and accidentally (on purpose?) went down the sweetie/chocolate aisle on my way to the till, and whoopsie a 3pack of Fry’s Peppermint Cream ended up in my basket! How did that get there?!

This reminded me of something funny from years ago.

I used to share the school run with a friend. It was easter so I took an egg in the car for my friend's daughter who would've been about 10 at the time.

It was a warm day so I said 'You should put that in the fridge when you get home'. She replied 'Oh no. This is going into my safe. If I put it in the fridge Mummy will eat it'

Ive had 2 easter eggs sat on my fireplace for weeks now,
elder GS ate some of his and put it back on fireplace.

Younger GS has not seen his yet(and probably wont)
(I have! saved him the little chocolate fredos that were inside it)!

Since I came out of hospital last July ,after an operation, I have had a terrible craving for chocolate.Before then I just used to fancy some now and again. It’s hard to try and stop this as it does become addictive. I am trying hard, but not helped when given an Easter Egg by my friend’s daughter ( nothing from my own daughter! ) who I was staying with at Easter. Needless to say I enjoyed eating it, but must now make myself stop buying it,or at least try!

Yes, guilty here. I bought a packet of Jaffa cakes for the week. They did last two days but I don't even really fool myself when I buy anything with chocolate in.

Did you enjoy it, in the moment? If so draw a line under it and move on. If not, why not? Don't deprive yourself of the good things in life. Remember 'moderation in everything, including moderation itself'. X

An Easter egg is so thin it does not actually contain as much chocolate as you think.

I do intermittent fasting and therefore don’t eat anything at night until lunchtime the next day. I used to be a constant snacker, but this has cured any cravings I may have, as I know I’m not allowed to eat. This means during my eating window of 6hours, I eat what I like. No more worrying what I can or cannot eat.

Just saw some little Lindt bunnies at the garden centre, reduced to only 25p. I actually didn't buy any! Admittedly I was quite stuffed full of fish and chips at the time. Craving for one now though.

I just love Hotel Chocolat and a box of Easter chocolates given to DH and I by our DS and DDIL were quickly demolished. Luckily it’s too expensive to eat regularly but only today we went to an outlet store where all their Easter chocolate was reduced. DH could not help himself and £33 later ...........
