Panache I am so sad to hear your news and horrified how it was delivered. When DH was told we had a nurse sit with us for a while. I hope you can find some support via your GP and MacMillan, Marie Curie etc. They may be able to assist with a second opinion. Thinking of you and MrP.

Panache What a truly dreadful way to break this news to you. I too hope you get good support from your GP. My FIL had the same thing and had hormone treatment which kept it at bay for at least three years. Unfortunately he then developed bowel cancer, but through those years was quite well. Much love to you both. ?

What a poor way to deliver such bad news, panache. A time to talk to your gp I think. I wish we could help but keep talking to us.

Seven minutes is a woefully inadequate time to be given. I wish you had been shown more of the care and compassion you show to so many in the kitchen and indeed to each other.

That is harsh news to digest Panache.
Might I suggest you seek a second opinion re treatment?
The DH of an old old friend had prostate cancer diagnosed in the early 2000’s which subsequently spread to his pelvis.
He was being treated at Poole Hospital with a new drug specifically being tested for his type of cancer.
He had many years of remission (about 15) but sadly died in December 2017 (in fact of lung cancer) in his 70’s.

At Mr Panache’s age I would have thought that the cancer would only be progressing very slowly and therefore there is every reason to undertake all the treatment at their disposal.
Do not be written off!

Be as blunt as you like panache. This is the place to spell it out. I am so, so sorry that you have had this news today. I guess we were all hoping things would be ok. I think you have been very badly dealt with by the hospital. It doesn’t sound a caring environment at all. I am not surprised you are worn out. All this is too much for anyone. I hope you can get some better support from your GP who sounds a more caring character. My heart aches for you both. Praying for some rest for you tonight and some comfort for you both somehow. x

Am totally devastated and can barely write but I did promise.
Indeed it was excellent service and caring from the Ambulance Service,they did us proud.A different story at the Hospital which was more like a cattle market.We were barely given 7 minutes,shown no care or compassion although the verdict was prostate cancer having spread to the bone.Very little on offer just some hormone treatment as reading between the lines,the diagnoses is that poor.He has suffered long without grumbling and my heart bleeds for him as he has been caring more for me than himself.
Only a short period IF he can put up a strong fight.
As you can guess at the moment neither of us have any fight left.

callgirl I had the fish eating at my feet at the Ideal Home exhibition a few years ago. My feet looked and felt fabulous afterwards.

Of course "poor little Mia" got the sympathy, she deserved it. I hope she sleeps well tonight.

My stairlift broke down about 4 steps from the top and I had a difficult time easing myself off safely and getting on to terra firma.

Doodle, I`d love to have that treatment with the fishes, but I`d be worried about them overdosing on folks`s bits of skin, unless they change the fish over each time.
Yes CharleyG, our bathroom is downstairs, thank goodness, the problem would really arise if the stair lift went wrong at the top and I couldn`t get down, Ugh, messy!

Have just this minute arrived home. Sun shining on a flat-calm sea.

A very successful day at the Vale of Leven hospital. I've a super new breast thingy that looks perfectly natural under my clothing and I am therefore perfectly well balanced.
During the chemo, a lady from Beatson cancer care stopped by and invited me to have a full pedicure. It was sheer bliss. A first class treat. We then had fish and chips at Loch Fyne Oyster Bar. Score 10/10. Called in to see pals in the village and gave them a special bottle of Malt as a thank you for all their ongoing support. We both had a very wee "snifter". Yay!

Feet-up time.

I can well understand Mia being put out- it is her house after all and it was an imposition for you to sleep in her bed- really how could you?!

I carry my washing in my arms when using my stairlift to avoid that disaster. I am more likely to get a cat tail stuck in it because Tara ambles up before me but stops a couple of times to have a wash. You were lucky the fellow appeared at 10 am- it could have been 10 pm. At least Mia will get a good night's sleep tonight,

I'm glad the engineer arrived promptly and sorted the chairlift out Callgirl1 You'll sleep better tonight and so will Mia. How dare you take her bed.

Soop and Panache, I hope your days weren`t too long drawn out and stressful.
The stair lift engineer arrived about 10 am, the first thing I did when he`d gone was go up and change my clothes! I`m a nightie short now, it was a bit holey and oily when he got it untangled, so it`s now in the bin. I didn`t get much sleep on the settee, Mia was put out, kept glaring at me from the arm, she was waiting to take possession of the settee for the night!
